The NCAA's/schools' long time argument that the athletes are students first and definitely NOT employees in any fashion is really biting them in the @$$. When they then try to restrict the "student" athletes from doing things other students are allowed to do, they lose. It's that simple.

Someone calls out some of your BS stats and you shift. He shot 46.6% from the field last year, not 44%. In fact, he's only shot worse than 46% from the field one year, his freshman year. He actually shot worse than that from the line last year at 53.3%. You're right that he did shoot 9 shots per game, unfortunately 3 of those were 3 pointers which he did not hit. What changed between last year and the year before? TJD and his excellent passing out of the post went pro. That plus just trying to shoot more shots lead to his 3-point percentage dropping a ton. I have no problem with him shooting less 3s but that doesn't make him bad at finishing at the rim, like you tried to claim.

Debatable. Last year returned 7 players while this year is only 6. Both teams lost their best player. This year is returning more starters 3.5 (counting Cupps as 0.5 starter) vs 2 from the year before. Of course, those are starters from a bad team.

Considering the talent + experience on the team it should be competing for the B1G championship, ranked, with a 4 seed or better, and getting to the S16. Then I look at the coaching staff and my actual expectation become some disappointing blowout loses, middle of the pack in the B1G, unranked at the end of the season, and missing or barely making the NCAAT. If they do make it, it will likely be an early loss. There will likely be a customary 3+ game losing streak or two in conference play. I expect we'll hear many of the same excuses as last year.

If Essegian is waiting to be offered a starting position at a high major school, he'll be waiting a loooong time. He'll need to move down to get that.

I think that's giving him too much credit. He was here over a year ago and all his predictions then were based on social media follows and likes. Because of that, he missed on a lot of calls. If it was Ya or someone directly connected to Woodson, he would've had better info. Yeah, it's weird.

Yes. Unless the NCAA gets an anti-trust exemption it'll continue to lose power by losing court cases. I think the only way that exemption happens is if it and the schools agree for the the players to become contract employees, unionize, and reach a collective bargaining agreement with the NCAA. Like professional sports.

Remember that this was before Woodson had coached a college game. So he was sold the same bill of goods as the fans were, that it would be a 4 out, 1 in offense. Also, Johnson's stats coming to IU were pretty good.

Sparks was probably pushed out. I very much doubt he thought he'd be a starter at IU when he came in last year. With the number of transfers each year, there is no way every player thinks they'll be a starter at their new school, especially if moving up. Some may be ok with that. Different people having different expectations/goals/priorities and all that.

I'm not sure I understand why that would bother you if he's successful and wins a national championship (you did say no amount of success). I look at it as it makes his chance of success unlikely to achieve that level of success and unlikely to achieve a level of success that is good enough to keep his job. So if he doesn't put in the effort he won't be around much longer. I'd be ok with low effort if it does actually work out with him being successful.
