A few things: Zrno was not a signed recruit. CDD and IU would not be allowed to talk about him or the situation. Nowhere in the story does it appear the IDS asked any tough questions. It comes off as if he's just a mouthpiece for Zrno's agent. A few questions off the top of my head that could have been asked: You say you first tried to contact coach on March 18th yet decommitted on March 19th. Do you think you gave him enough time? It was the middle of March, well before the transfer portal opened. Why could you not give him more time before decommitting? Why are you coming to us with this now? What do you hope to achieve? Different coach with different valuations for players and he needs to build a team from the ground up. Would Zrno still listen if the money being offered was less? What do you think Zrno would offer to a DeVries coached team? The article could have at least pointed out that Zrno did commit very quickly but chose to not do so. He doesn't. He played 1 year at D2 then 3 at D1. There is a lawsuit trying to get time spent at D2 to not count but I don't think that one will win, since D2 is still part of the NCAA. That is different than JUCO and NAIA not counting against eligibility since they are not part of the NCAA. Swope would need that lawsuit to win or win a lawsuit of his own to get another year of eligibility. I'm highly skeptical that happens.
