I can guarantee that we won't be relying on freshman Moreno as our center next year. -

Hoosiers had both the SMU Classic and their intrasquad meet this weekend. https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2024/10/10/mens-swimming-and-diving-no-4-6-hoosiers-split-squad-for-opening-weekend The 9 men IU sent to the SMU classic won, even with a relay DQ. They had a bunch of NCAA B qualifications and the 400 medley relay got an A qualification. https://smumustangs.com/documents/2024/10/12/SMU_Classic_Full_Results.pdf https://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/news/louisville-women-indiana-men-top-smu-classic-owen-mcdonald-impressive-in-indiana-debut/ Anna Peplowski interview about her great season last year and the Olympics. They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
go iu bb replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This thread was in full swing during the spring and early summer. It's been quiet recently because there hasn't been anything new. I don't know that you're the one who should be calling people out since you were calling all season for Woodson to be fired and emailed Dolson about it multiple times. Even now you're not exactly positive as shown by this one from yesterday in another thread: -
It just means what we already knew: IU hasn't beat a good team yet. Thankfully, they have taken care of business and beat each of them handily. The Nebraska game will be the first good team and I think IU gets it done.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
go iu bb replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm not sure I buy that bolded part. IU has been recruiting him for more than a year and got in when he was ranked around 100. UConn jumped in after he blew up. So that doesn't really seem to fit that statement if he ends up there. The rest of it I believe, since we have 3 years of Woodson's inside out offense as well as him on record saying that the offense needs to be run that way, that they shoot enough 3s, and his job isn't to get 3 point shooters (Kopp) shots. Supposedly they've adjusted the offense this year and the Mullins have seen that in a practice but maybe it wasn't enough. The old and low energy mentioned in other comments also makes sense. I'm going to wait for the announcement before declaring Mullins gone, though, but Woodson doesn't have a good track record in these types of recruitments. -

I see we're at stage 8. Last week was positive IU on the board now the assumption is he's gone. -
National Letter of Intent is being removed. It was basically worthless anyways since recruits are pretty much always released from it if they change their minds. There have been rare times when a coach/school wouldn't release a recruit from their NLI but they would get shredded in the court of public opinion each time and back eventually back release him so all they did was hurt themselves. Without this formal step of signing and then requesting a release, I wonder if other sports recruitment will become more like football where a "commitment" is more a sign of the current leader rather than an actual commitment. This is a swimming article but I'm pretty sure this applies to all sports: https://swimswam.com/ncaa-removing-national-letter-of-intent-nli-program/ Speaking of swimming, IU has very good teams pretty much every year and this year the men have a legit chance at winning the national championship.

The Hoosiers pick up a big distance swimmer commitment. #2 in his class who already has an NCAA point scoring time in the mile (A final). https://swimswam.com/gabe-manteufel-2-in-the-class-of-2026-hands-verbal-commitment-to-indiana/ -
Man, the byes certainly aren't in IU's favor. So far 2 road B1G games against teams coming off a bye week and for our bye week so does the other team so no advantage there.

1 more win ensures a winning season, even if the bowl game is lost.

Trading the undefeated guy for the guy that just got upset big time by Vandy? I'm not sure that's a good trade. :)

UCLA was also coming off a bye week. IU's first 2 B1G road games are against teams which had 2 weeks to prepare but they should end up 2-0 regardless. Just another sign of progress. -
He's a total DB so that won't happen. He'd probably just double down.
-
Context (and nuance) are beyond his ken.
-
He's still bitter that his 3-4 record and total post season flameout with a team that had top 10 talent as the interim HC didn't land him the full time position. He's been spewing spite ever since and this is just the latest example. Nothing to see here.

Yes. I refer to them as the offseason snipers since that what we've seemed to hear the past few years is that player x can't miss during the summer/preseason practices. Then reality hits when the games begin. Hopefully it's real this time but I won't hold my breath.

IUFB vs Maryland - Saturday, 09.28.24 @ Noon on BTN
go iu bb replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I was excited about the team heading into the season but if someone had told me we had 4 turnovers and no take aways against Maryland, no way I would have thought we won. If they told me we not only won, but won by 2 touchdowns I would've thought they were lying. This team has been even better than I expected. Without those turnovers I agree with CCC and think that it would've been an even larger blowout. -
Maybe, just maybe, Nebraska is overrated. What a shocker.
