But why should they? IU's weak non-conference schedule this year didn't cost them a CFP bid.
-
They play 9 B1G games. It just happened that this year the 2 teams from last year's national championship game weren't as good. They still finished 7-5, 6-6 so they were decent. Most years you won't have that. Even with that, IU's SOS ended up close to that of ND and SMU, 2 other teams that got at-large bids to the CFP. I've long said that if they win all 3 non-con games they just need to win 3 B1G games to go to a bowl so making the non-con games easy wins is important. Cignetti has done an amazing job in year 1 but those schedules were already made. Even if they weren't, I wouldn't have a problem with it. He now needs to make the program a consistent winner. I believe he can do that, but a couple more years of easy non-con wins will help with that. To put it briefly, getting the most wins possible is better than playing tough non-conference opponents. The SOS will work itself out since IU plays in the B1G.

Playing IU has been a cure for poor 3-point shooting for the last 7 years. -

Replace "https://x" (everything before the .com) with "twitter" before pasting. I do it at x/twitter then hit enter then copy/paste the URL after that. That is the most consistent way I've found.

This year UI had only 2 road losses and Iowa 1 home loss. Great chance for IU to show if they can sustain this or not. They could go 2-1 in that 3 game stretch or 0-3. I doubt they go that 0-3. 2-1 or 1-2 are more likely. The first 2 games are difficult but winnable. A win at Oregon is unlikely.

That's not difficult The offense is terrible So is the defense
-
Not bowling this year and it looks like they won't next year, either. Getting rid of the conference divisions was terrible for them while it's looking good for IU. Too bad, so sad.

2024 IUFB Prediction League - Game 13 at Notre Dame (CFP 1st Round) 12/20/24 8pm ESPN/ABC

lol, he includes Dan Dakich as though people at IU wouldn't agree with him on that point. I can't wait to beat these guys. Always overrated yet always think they're underrated. Overall, their bowl record is really bad since their last national championship which is almost as old as IU basketball's last championship. After this game, ND will be 0-3 in the playoffs. If they do win, it'll likely be due more to it being a home game rather than a bowl game. -

I wonder if they mixed that up with his Passing TD since he did have 23 of those. -

Something that is pretty much nonexistent under Woodson already. -

Indeed. This is part of the reason why I didn't want a former player hired in the first place for fear that it would turn into a situation like this. The other reason is that none of the former players are good enough as coaches. I thought if one were to be hired it would be Alford. Better coach than Woodson but still not good enough and comes with completely different baggage. -

Yes. Lack of extension coupled with the lack of statement of support from the AD after last season would show that the AD isn't really behind him. That will hurt recruiting from both the portal and HS. His main supporter at IU, QB, will be a lame duck when the season ends since his term will end in 2025, I believe end of June. So QB isn't going to be able to save him this year. Rich donors? I doubt they'd be happy with the results of their big NIL contributions for this team if it's 20 wins and barely making the tournament. The attendance appears to be down which shows the fans are tuning out. Dolson will have more cachet after making the Cignetti hire in football. -

Oh, I know what you're saying. I disagree. The contract is one of the reasons why. -

Deaf ears. I've tried to make this point before a few times but it falls on deaf ears around here. I just don't see how they keep him without an extension and to get that extension there has to be a good reason to give it. The 20 wins and squeaking into the tournament isn't that. -
It's not that IU fans (obviously including big dollar donors) don't care about football, it's that we haven't been given many reasons to care about football. Turnout to games has historically been pretty bad but when the team does well, attendance increases quickly. This year is a great example of that. Basically, the fanbase has just been waiting for a reason to care. If this is list is correct, it's just further evidence of that.

I saw this headline and thought it might be an interesting look at the game, comparing the 2 teams and looking at how the strengths and weaknesses of each match up. Nope. I hope the players and coaching staff don't take us seriously, either.
