1/5th of the available NIL is pretty steep for 1 player that is only "ok." I saw he was getting offers in the $400k-$600k range and that IU has $3M available.

I wonder why. Injury or under the weather? in the doghouse? Matchup issue with that team? 12 points and 4 assists in 18 minutes isn't bad. -
IU had more than $25M in profit last year so they have the money. The question is whether they're willing to consistently spend it, which they haven't been in the past.
-
No, it does not. I don't think the portal is officially open yet so I'm wondering if they're all in the portal or have just stated their intention to enter. I also wonder if that is a distinction without a difference.
-
I'm pretty sure Woodson didn't have much to do with this hire.
-
No, but they've also not been very good historically. Not IU level bad but not very good with an all time winning percentage of 49%.
-
Oh great, Duke is involved. We're already lost. No way we can compete against Duke. Oh, wait. This is football. As long as IU is willing to spend money, we shouldn't lose a HC candidate to Duke.

Look at all these dads making jokes. Ignore @Stuhoo and his stuBoo, keep 'em coming.

(C) Kel 'el Ware - COMMITTED TO INDIANA

Nothing is going to change for Edey. He wouldn't have been drafted last year, he won't be drafted this year, and, if he comes back for his COVID year (I think he will), he won't be drafted after next year. He just isn't what NBA teams want to use a draft pick on. -
Not just recruiting experience and connections but has seen first hand how a P5 program needs to be run. I doubt his practices would be compared to HS practices.
-
Why? Care to elaborate?

To get to a bowl every year it just had to win their 3 cupcake games and win 33% of their conference games. That's it

Syracuse isn't exactly a great football school. Better than IU because everyone is, but certainly not someone IU should be emulating.
-
His last 4 years were IU level bad. The 1 good year in there was a fluke year just like IU's. It looks like he wasn't able to keep up with the changes in college football so there's no reason to think that would change at IU. This, of course, is in addition to what got him fired from Northwestern.

https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/big-ten-takes-picks-indiana-acts-like-a-football-school-will-michigan-cover-large-spread-over-iowa/ Now IU just has to spend money to make a good hire like a football school would. The fact that Fitz was seriously considered and Hart was interviewed has me skeptical.
-
I'm available. I'm willing to take a few million per year to lose games until I'm fired and given a buyout for a few more million dollars. I'll just think of all the money as a coping mechanism for all the criticism I'd justifiably receive.
-
IU: We're serious about football! That's why we had to fire our coach despite a $20M buyout. Also IU: We're now interviewing Mike Hart. We're not actually serious about football, we just like to pretend we are. We're willing to pay big money on buyouts but not willing to spend money on the next coach.

(2024) - CG Dylan Harper to Rutgers

Until he commits to IU, I'm assuming he's 100% not coming and will end up at Duke or Rutgers. -
Maryland vs Indiana - Game Thread, Fri., 12/1 @ 7 BTN
go iu bb replied to Dave from Dayton's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Even if he was to get healthy enough to play, I would think his lack of conditioning as well as full speed practice would keep him on the bench anyways. He is a freshman and we know that it can take some adjustment so having to have that adjustment with lack of conditioning late in the season would be very rough. I doubt he plays this year but if he does it will probably be from the end of the bench. -
Good. Although it is troubling that it got to the point that she had to say yes or no. That doesn't bode well for this hire. It might be more of IU being IU.
-
What sucks is that coming into the season I thought we knew what we'd get from Johnson and Galloway. They haven't played as well as expected. Ware and Reneau were question marks but they're playing better than I'd hoped.
-
Right. They just having been good at caring effectively in addition to not enough. They overpaid Allen so they were willing to spend money just not in a smart fashion.
-
I'm hoping #1. It's a positive that Dolson realizes he can't do it himself so he's seeking assistance from those with experience.
-
From what I remember, IU spent about as much or maybe even more on basketball recruiting that football. That's insane. Basketball has 13 players. Football has 85. The football recruiting budget should be significantly more than basketball not only because of that but also because it generates much more income.
-
Might want to add recruiting budget. IIRC, IU does not spend very much on that compared with other B1G schools. It has been several years since I've seen a list of that so it may have changed but I'm kind of doubtful.
