It's crazy that in college basketball this type of behavior is acceptable. Grown men acting like spoiled children throwing fits. Why would parents want their children learning how to act from guys like this?

Trent Sisley is an Outstanding Hoosier and (2025) SG - to UConn Thread

Who said anything about it being a major issue? It just didn't make any sense to be there. This site is pretty organized so I was just surprised it hadn't already been moved. /shrug But thanks for moving it. -

I was thinking along the lines of maybe a mod moving it. -

Winning a tournament doesn't take consistency. It just takes getting hot at the right time and favorable matchups. Flukes happen all the time. Hell, Davis almost won IU a national championship and he was far from consistent. Winning tournaments multiple times and/or making multiple deep runs (even in conference championship tournaments) would show some consistency but you made it sound like even just once would be good enough for you. -

I guess it depends on what you mean by "miss." If it had been another Miller hire, then maybe it couldn't recover. Woodson has been getting to the tournament and landing some 5* talent, so it shows the potential for the program is still there. Even with embarrassing losses like this one, the program is still in a better place than it was with Miller. This, plus NIL and an athletic department that finally seems to care about athletics again with money to spend should make it a more desirable position when Woodson needs to be replaced. For the record, I don't think Woodson's seat is even getting warm yet even with after this blow out. I think he'll be here several more years, at least. -

So why is this thread in the Indiana Men's Basketball forum and not the Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum? -
This alone wouldn't be the reason that FSU leaves (if they do), but would certainly be the last straw that makes it happen. This shows how little value staying in the ACC has: less money from TV contracts and the wins mean less than in the B1G, $EC, and Big 12. Even the expanded playoff starting next year will be heavily populated by schools from those 3 conferences. When it's a question between a school from those conferences and the ACC, the ACC will continue to lose out. If the B1G adds them, they would likely also add at least 1 other school from the ACC.
-
Here we go again. When FSU got shafted I thought that would be what pushed them out of the ACC since they had already been looking to get out. At very least there would be rumors about it. Here are the rumors: https://spartanswire.usatoday.com/2023/12/08/rumor-florida-state-working-to-leave-acc-for-big-ten-within-next-month/ If they do leave, CFP committee may have just killed the ACC if this happens. 1/2 of the ACC was already looking to leave and the ACC would become that much weaker without FSU and it was already weak enough that an undefeated ACC wasn't good enough to get into the CFP over 2 11-loss teams.

Right. But was someone like Sorsby worth 10% of the pool? Nope.
-
That's what I was thinking. He's probably putting that in there in hopes of getting a waiver since he used his transfer already. Oh look, it's #1 on the list: UNDERGRADUATE FOUR-YEAR TRANSFER WAIVERS (Effective for 2023-24 championship eligibility) An undergraduate transfer waiver will only be considered for student-athletes who transfer: (1) For reasons related to the student-athlete’s physical or mental health and well-being; (2) Due to exigent circumstances outside the student-athlete’s control (e.g., physical or sexual assault or discrimination based on a protected class); or (3) Assertions involving diagnosed education impacting disabilities. I hope it's more a more rigorous process than just having them say, "I need the waiver for my mental health" or "Staying at that school would affect my mental health" without giving more than that. I personally have no problems if they wanted to give unlimited transfers without sitting out. But if they're going to put restrictions on the transfer waiver process and put one of the 3 reasons as mental health, I don't want to see every player claiming mental health issues just to get a waiver. It needs to be a rigorous process. If not, it'll make mental health a joke and have a negative effect on those who actually have issues.

I saw a quote the other day that makes me think that CCC will take a moneyball approach to NIL.

Well deserved.

(2025)- Trent Sisley to INDIANA
go iu bb replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Bryson Tiller will have on OV to Kansas this weekend and will be on an OV at IU the weekend of he game. I don't think he's coming to just watch Kansas but he is considering both schools. Kansas isn't involved in Sisley's recruitment. -
(2024) PF - Derik Queen to Maryland
go iu bb replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
With some of the recruits (like what's-his-face that just committed to Rutgers) I would agree with you. Queen? No so much. He and his family have been very quiet during his recruitment. It's not his fault that other people follow every move closely, make claims that he's close to committing, claim to know the school that leads, etc. I also can't fault him for taking his time to make what is a very big decision in his life. To me, taking his time on the decision and keeping his process quiet actually shows some maturity. -
But quite a bit more accurate as a passer. The play calling may have had him running less because they didn't need it as much but he definitely had less run attempts per game than Sorsby. I haven't watched Ohio so I don't know. Anyways, Sorsby is gone.

Certainly sounds like the type of QB CCC likes, one that can run.

(2025) - PG/SG Kiyan Anthony to Syracuse
go iu bb replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
They won by 10 points with their players only accounting for 94 minutes vs 110 for the other team. That's a lot of disadvantage time. Impressive! lol -
Nothing credible. I just saw two links where it looks like they probably fell for the tweet from the fake account. One pulled the page (404 error) and the other just isn't a credible and said that it was reported that he was suspended. That report was probably the tweet. No other links I saw mentioned a suspension. He's a dirtbag but Self has no problem with that.

Foot or ankle? -
Yep, he stuck around a losing program for 3 years. Time to move up, put up big numbers at a big program, and get drafted.
-
I remember Mallory as a coach but not when he was hired, which is what I'm mostly looking at. At the chance to hit the floor running and have a quick(ish) turnaround of the program. Definitely as far as resume, no past coaches can match that. I'm glad his personality is very different from CTA and some of the others. IU was usually in the running for a bowl game under Mallory (it was harder then) and occasionally ranked, so I'd be happy with that.
-
He's the only player I'll really be disappointed is gone when he leaves. Can't blame him, though.
-
They would be short-sighted to stay, imo. More likely to hurt draft position than help and always the possibility of injury. They should go pro.
-
What I think gives him an advantage is that he was already a HC with a winning team around him. That lets him bring in a coaching staff that are mostly already familiar with each other and on the same page with a culture of winning. That's huge. Most of the hires IU has made are assistants from other schools or promoting from within. The outsiders had to cobble together a staff and the insiders mostly continued the with the losing staff already on hand. Hoeppner may have been an exception since he was a current HC when hired but I honestly didn't pay too much attention at the time to remember how he built his staff. I do remember that he wasn't at IU long before the diagnosis so he never really got much of a chance but in his short time, he showed promise of turning things around.
