They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
go iu bb replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Any coach who is in line should have an idea of what Woodson has done here. Getting blown out on 2/3 of his P4 loses. Making the tournament, yes, but only securely one time followed by a quick exit via blow out each time. Never seriously competing for a B1G title, regular season or tournament. Archaic style that neither fans nor recruits like. Fans losing interest. And on and on. It doesn't take much research to find these things out of there not already known. If a coach can't be bothered to find those things out, he shouldn't be seriously considered. IU expects more than squeaking into the tournament. If he doesn't think he can live to to the expectations of IU, he doesn't belong. Also, putting them in the tournament this year is getting way ahead of ourselves. -

Why are you defending Woodson!? :) -
I've seen plenty of articles which have turned against ESPN, Herbstreit, Finebaum, Kiffin, and the other SEC shills for their hypocrisy.

lmao. I like Woodson? No, I do not and I've been very clear about that for a long time. Pointing out stupid posts isn't a defense of him, it's simply pointing out stupid posts. Call it a grift, I have no problem with that. It's just not a Ponzi scheme type of grift. -

Incorrect. In a Ponzi scheme, the latest investments are used to pay the earlier investors monetary returns. So there are several ways in which this is definitely not a Ponzi scheme. Do you realize there are types of fraud other than just Ponzi schemes? This isn't a pyramid scheme, either. Also, you liked your own incorrect post? lmao -
I can't stand ND but I hope they destroy Georgia. It'd be great if ASU beats Texas as well to knock the SEC out of the playoffs.

The biggest **** of them all is Finebaum. Still taking shots at IU. https://athlonsports.com/college/indiana-hoosiers/paul-finebaum-doesnt-believe-indiana-would-survive-an-sec-schedule

It's not a Ponzi scheme. You should stop saying that since you obviously don't know what a Ponzi scheme is. -

I don't care if he's fired, resigns, or retires just as long as he's no longer IU's coach. I just want Woodson gone and I'm not too particular on how that happens. -

Should've. Would've. Could've. It wasn't but that doesn't mean he'll continue to get more chances. -

I don't know about continuing to get QBs from the portal. They might but we did pick up Tyler Cherry last year. 4*, #18 QB in the class. 6-5, 215 lbs coming out of HS. So highly ranked and has a good size. After the elder Mendoza is gone, Cherry will have been with IU for 3 seasons (assuming Cherry doesn't transfer and Mendoza uses all of his eligibility). Here's the scouting report on him as a HS recruit: A pro-style passer with an ideal frame hovering around 6-foot-5, 205 pounds. Possesses significant long-term developmental upside due to his physical tools, highlighted by some of the best arm strength in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Utilizes his strong arm talent most effectively on third-level throws off of play action where he has the time to deliver passes on a rope or with touch over the top. Made positive strides as a senior in his second year as a starter in the intermediate passing game, becoming much more consistent with his timing and ball placement. Also improved as a senior in trusting his footwork to avoid unnecessary off-platform throws, but does have the arm talent to make throws from an unstable base when truly required. Will need to move through his progressions quicker and become a more decisive passer in college. Does not consistently threaten the defense with his legs but is athletic enough to occasionally escape the pocket to pick up first downs on the ground or extend plays long enough to launch throws downfield. Likely will need some time before he's ready to contribute at the Power Five level, but projects as a high-level game manager with serious NFL tools. -

Is he any good though? Planning on entering the draft would indicate that he could be but there are plenty of players who are delusional about how good they are. As a team PU sucked, so..... -

I'm curious what exactly people think Buckner will do to keep Woodson. He'll be at about 3 months left in his term when the season is over. If Dolson wants Woodson gone and has the support of Whitten what is Buckner going to do? Please be specific. Realize, that worst case they wait until Buckner is gone and can Woodson in the middle of the summer. Woodson won't get another year. -

Yes, if by this year you mean 2025. The doom and gloom bunch like to think he'll get another term or will still have power as a lame duck. -

The cutoff date is Dec 28th. I believe it's a case of whichever is later. So players with a bowl game within 4 days of the 28th or after the 28th get 4 days from their bowl game. Everyone else gets until the 28th. -

The only one I've seen was Warglebargle or whatever his name was who committed to Kentucky. -

Woodson isn't great at recruiting. He's okay at throwing stacks of money at transfers without thought of making a cohesive team. -

I disagree. 85 punters probably wouldn't make a very competitive team. -

Ball State. Not a big time recruit but if the staff wants him, so I'll be glad if he commits. Did he sign with BSU? 3* on 247. 6-3 so good height. https://247sports.com/player/jacob-bell-46143253/ -

I'm pleased with the lack of IU portal entries after the end of the season. So far only Green and Jackson, who were recruited over. That's good for continuity and shows that most of the team has bought in and are happy.
