IU vs Notre Dame… PLAYOFFS!! Friday, 12/20
go iu bb replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Now take that as opposed to this one. I think the student article has a unbiased look/concern at what might happen: https://slapthesign.com/notre-dame-football-cfp-glory-hoosiers-glaring-kryptonite This one talks about stats which have no bearing on this game since they occurred under the previous coaching staff. Different staff, different players, different outcome this year. 3-2 in home night games is impressive? Okay, sure. -
Not bowling this year and it looks like they won't next year, either. Getting rid of the conference divisions was terrible for them while it's looking good for IU. Too bad, so sad.

2024 IUFB Prediction League - Game 13 at Notre Dame (CFP 1st Round) 12/20/24 8pm ESPN/ABC

lol, he includes Dan Dakich as though people at IU wouldn't agree with him on that point. I can't wait to beat these guys. Always overrated yet always think they're underrated. Overall, their bowl record is really bad since their last national championship which is almost as old as IU basketball's last championship. After this game, ND will be 0-3 in the playoffs. If they do win, it'll likely be due more to it being a home game rather than a bowl game. -

They already used that excuse for NIU. -

I hope IU wins big. Just think, all the pundits will have to either admit IU is for real or that ND is overrated. Their heads will explode. -

I wonder if they mixed that up with his Passing TD since he did have 23 of those. -

I hope he doesn't blow up against IU when we play them in the Sugar Bowl. -
Something that is pretty much nonexistent under Woodson already.
-
Indeed. This is part of the reason why I didn't want a former player hired in the first place for fear that it would turn into a situation like this. The other reason is that none of the former players are good enough as coaches. I thought if one were to be hired it would be Alford. Better coach than Woodson but still not good enough and comes with completely different baggage.
-
Yes. Lack of extension coupled with the lack of statement of support from the AD after last season would show that the AD isn't really behind him. That will hurt recruiting from both the portal and HS. His main supporter at IU, QB, will be a lame duck when the season ends since his term will end in 2025, I believe end of June. So QB isn't going to be able to save him this year. Rich donors? I doubt they'd be happy with the results of their big NIL contributions for this team if it's 20 wins and barely making the tournament. The attendance appears to be down which shows the fans are tuning out. Dolson will have more cachet after making the Cignetti hire in football.
-
Oh, I know what you're saying. I disagree. The contract is one of the reasons why.
-
Like I said, deaf ears.
-
Deaf ears. I've tried to make this point before a few times but it falls on deaf ears around here. I just don't see how they keep him without an extension and to get that extension there has to be a good reason to give it. The 20 wins and squeaking into the tournament isn't that.
-
It's not that IU fans (obviously including big dollar donors) don't care about football, it's that we haven't been given many reasons to care about football. Turnout to games has historically been pretty bad but when the team does well, attendance increases quickly. This year is a great example of that. Basically, the fanbase has just been waiting for a reason to care. If this is list is correct, it's just further evidence of that.

Has anyone heard/seen any names as possible replacements for Sunseri?

https://indiana.rivals.com/news/indiana-football-2024-transfer-portal-tracker That lists some of the players IU has targeted. -
I saw this headline and thought it might be an interesting look at the game, comparing the 2 teams and looking at how the strengths and weaknesses of each match up. Nope. More of the same just talking about schedule. Ranking CFP first-round games: Why Indiana-Notre Dame has potential to be best matchup https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2024/12/08/ranking-cfp-first-round-games/76852522007/

I hope the players and coaching staff don't take us seriously, either.

The fees for ticker services have long been ridiculous. I've gotten "cheap" tickets from ticketmaster and paid as much or more in fees making them no longer cheap. $410 in fees is taking it to a whole new level, though.

Slight correction: ASU should have been seeded 11th since Clemson is properly seeded 12th. I think that is one of the first corrections we'll see. The byes will no longer go the top 4 conference champions, but instead the top 4 ranked teams. We'll see the seeding match the rankings. I wonder if they'll also go away from weekly updates before the announcements. That kind of locks the committee in to certain rankings for teams. If they hadn't done that, Alabama might have gotten in instead of SMU. I think they got it right but I bet they wanted to put Bama in but just couldn't because of rankings from before the conference championship.
