Yep. Any idea who the rest of the severance payments go to?

This isn't just basketball related but here is info on how the athletic department fared in FY 2024: Indiana Indiana University brought in a record $173.5 million in revenue, an increase of $28.8 million from the previous year. The athletics department reported $176.6 million in expenses, an increase of $37.6 million year-over-year, resulting in a $3.1 million budget deficit. IU generated $26.4 million from ticket sales (up $1.9 million from 2023), $23.6 million from donor contributions (up $4 million), and $50.8 million in media rights (up $3 million). The biggest increase in expenses came from coaching salaries, which cost $32.5 million, an increase of $6.6 million, and $22.1 million was paid in severance, an increase of $18.5 million. https://swimswam.com/ncaa-financial-reports-texas-posts-largest-operating-budget-ever-big-ten-schools-in-trouble/

Such a joke. He may as well say, "I have no idea what I'm doing." -

They get 30 days after a coach leaves. Sometimes athletes also let their intentions to enter the portal be known but don't officially enter until the window. -

I can't speak for others but I would. I would start the Fire Beard thread the minute I saw the news and root for them to lose every game until he was gone. Luckily, the chances of him getting hired are pretty much 0%. For now, let's just fire Woodson. -

I don't know about minority but there are plenty of people on each side who feel strongly about their opinions. That division alone is why I think he would be a bad hire even if I didn't have a strong opinion on him, which I do. -

You think most of us want Beard if not Stevens? That is incorrect. There certainly are some who have said so and plenty of others who want nothing to do with him. It would be a divisive hire so even in the unlikely event the admin were to look past his baggage, he would be a bad hire just because there would be plenty of fans who wouldn't ignore that baggage. -

Why do people keep calling Stevens fat? So rude, he won't come to IU because the fans keep referring to him as a "White Whale" and it hurts his feelings. Then Scotty is right and it's the fans' fault. -
I found this kind of humorous in the article. They're just so opposed to being seen as a bad team, so instead of saying they're sixth seventh in the conference they say it this way: "two spots outside of fourth place in the conference standings"

It looks like the last game he played was Dec 10 which is also early enough in the season to qualify for a medical redshirt. -

UK, UL, and UNC have all fired coaches after 2-3 years. If there were negative takes on those firings, they were few and far between. Hell, Davis at UNC is in year 4 and has a much better record than Woodson but his seat is still hot. -

I like stories like that since it kills the narrative some push that no one outside of IU knows what's going on so won't understand if Woodson is fired. Firing Woodson now or at the end of the season isn't bad optics. Keeping him another year would be. -

We've got ~1300 pages to to catch the College Bball Thread and only about a month to do so. The Woodson defenders are always good at helping pad the page count. Plus he's unintentionally hilarious with his horrible takes. -

Suppose there was a poster who defended Woodson until the middle of this season. Imagine if this post spent the summer banging his chest over the portal "win" and telling us how great Woodson is. Now suppose this poster was telling everyone that no coaches anyone on this board is talking about would come to IU. If they did, they wouldn't do well. The best IU could do was Pitino Jr who would do a great job here. I don't know about everyone else, but I wouldn't really place too much confidence in that poster's ability to evaluate coaching prowess. And pretty much no one on this board has any real idea which coaches would or wouldn't agree to coach at IU. -

Would people actually be looking for stuff like this if he hadn't forced Woodson on IU then forced a 4th year when it was obvious it wasn't working? Probably not. I hope all of his corruption gets brought out into the open. I doubt this was the only time he used university funds inappropriately. -

Yes, but since the post I replied to and quoted was about salaries, I didn't feel the need to state that is what I was talking about. -

At one point, Woodson was in the top 10. Miller was also top 10 for a bit. -

Maybe define what you believe the expectations to be at IU at this time. -

So Rocco Spindler does end up at Nebraska after all. Odd recruitment. I wonder if this was like the Beebe recruitment for IU, where he committed and signed then tried to open it up again but was unable to. -

There are two different buyouts: - The one if May chooses to leave (i.e. gets hired away) started at $5M and will be $4M after this season. - The one if May gets fired is 70% of his remaining salary. After this season it will be at ~$11M. Yeah, it's not $20 but it's not $5M either. It is how an initial contract should be although if I'm a Michigan fan I'd want the buyout for May leaving to be higher. I wonder what Woodson's buyout is for leaving by his choice. It would be hilarious if it was $0. -

I hope this is a great year of development for the underclassmen and juniors. A lot of the line will have to be replaced again next year and it's easier to do that if the non-starters are ready to be starters rather than having to rely on the portal every year. -

We've already tried the less successful brother of another coach route once. We don't need to try that again.
