Fair enough. That I can agree with.

He should follow his dream and go back to Kentucky to be a preacher. That is the best for everyone. I want him replaced along with all the assistant coaches.

You can't hire them based only on coaching. They represent the university, whether for good or bad. Things other than coaching could also have an effect on their ability to do the job well. Millers lack of personality seriously hindered him at IU and should have been a huge red flag, for example.

From previous experience around the college CBB ranks, it's obvious Sam Cassell would be a a homerun for them and win a ton. Hiring ex-star players without college coaching experience is a sure fire way to win. That's who they should go with.

The football coaching search shows that you shouldn't put too much faith into Rabjohns' hot coaching board. Right before Cignetti was named as coach, Rabjohns and company moved him into the Other Names category. 11/28 - Moved to Other Names 11/29 - Moved to a primary target 11/30 - Named IU's coach This makes it pretty clear they weren't getting much info about the football coaching search. It seems likely that would be true about the basketball search as well.

The revenue sharing cap is the same, regardless of conference. The difference is that the B1G and SEC schools will likely go to the cap. The B12 and ACC schools may also, but it would be harder for them to do. Where IU gets the edge is that they've said they'd take the B1G average (or maybe it was the median?) going to basketball and double that. So they're willing to commit a larger percentage of the revenue share with basketball while many schools will be concentrating on football. IU has also shown that they have a large pool of NIL money for the basketball team. In addition, the large amount of money coming in to the athletic department means that they should be able to at very least keep up if not exceed other conferences in terms of facilities, pay, other staff positions such as GM to make coaching life a bit easier, etc.

Kind of the same problem as McCollum without as much success. No experience at a high-major program (successful or not). Not time at D1 but has had some success in those 5 years with his team improving. Not as much success as McCollum at the D2 level. Has been at that school for a while now but still young at 44. Pretty big risk. Are you familiar with him or the team at all? What's the style of play? Do his teams have an identity?

I really like where I'm at and the people I work with.

The Texas job will likely be open this year.

I don't think Miley Cyrus is qualified. I'd rather keep Woodson.

Please don't tell me IU is willing to pay $9M+ for Stevens but since he won't be the coach they're going to go cheap on salary for everyone else. Otzelberger is making $4M now. If they really want him, something like $5M might not be enough to pull him away. It would be a lot harder to say no to $6-7M. If IU wants a quality coach, make it very hard for them to say no. I doubt they'll do that.

Pierre Pierce. Plus following up firing an underachieving alumn to hire another alumn who hasn't performed that well at the P5 level would be a mistake.

You seem very unhappy here. Maybe another board would be more for you. I think you'd fit well on the rivals board.

Mark Turgeon - A Coaching Candidate? Or Not
go iu bb replied to #1fanofafrin's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Turgeon's winning percentage in any conference he's been in has been under 60%. So if IU were to hire him, they'd not only lose the press conference, they'd also lose a lot of games. His NCAAT record is also less than impressive. -

Mark Turgeon - A Coaching Candidate? Or Not
go iu bb replied to #1fanofafrin's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Brad Stevens as IU's coach is fun for some to fantasize about since he's a great coach. Mark Turgeon? lmao Not so much. I would also point out that in some of your other posts that merely being better than Woodson isn't the goal. That's a very low bar. Being significantly better than Woodson and all that entails (like winning games, competing for B1G titles, making it past the first weekend of the NCAAT, etc) is the goal. Mark Turgeon doesn't have that upside. -
Mark Turgeon - A Coaching Candidate? Or Not

Is a cult of one possible? Turgeon train consists of only @TheDMV as far as I can tell. -
Knock yourself out with as much Turgeon talk as you want:

A thread for @TheDMV to post about Mark Turgeon all he wants since he apparently can't not talk about him even though Turgeon won't be IU's next coach. -

The royal we is God and I, not everyone.

You seemed to be using "we" as an all-encompassing opinion of the board. There is not one of those.
-
"We"? There is no "we" as far as having an opinion on Stevens one way or another. Some people believe he'll be the next coach, some people believe that IU at least has a chance, and others believe he's not a legitimate possibility.
-
Yes. I don't think it's a predictive stat, more of an affirming one.
