Man, I never could have imagined a day where I'd be rooting for IU to make the NCAAT more because it would end their season sooner than not making it than just because I want them to make it. Crazy days.

IU is hiring Gates, Stevens to Missouri?
-
I'm thinking Woodson won't be the coach in the likely case that IU has to play in the Crown. It'll probably be one of the assistants as an interim.
-
I would give him a very unenthusiastic chance. To me, it would signal that IU is very okay with being mediocre so I would be even less invested in the team than I currently am. I'd probably just check scores after the fact and watch 1 or 2 games the first year. If I couldn't watch a game, I probably wouldn't bother to have live updates on my phone like I do now. Then if it looks like it was actually a good hire, I'd start to come back but it would be slow.
-
Probably because you have gone after others for their grammar in the past and not as a joke. It's par for the course with you. Periods almost always go inside the quotation marks in the US.
-
Even Turgeon wouldn't be as bad as the Woodson hire.

Remember, kids, KwaC is whack.

KwaC is back.

Not only do I not believe that that poster is in the know, I don't believe they're even female. I agree on the unmarried part.

Getting this thread warmed up in case Dolson hires someone like Brownell.
-
Which means they also average a 32 game season which is just regular season plus 1 game in the B1GT. Yikes.
-
When you see Craig play for IU in the Crown Tournament you'll forget all about McNeeley.
-
I'm curious where this was from. The bolded makes me happy.
-
If he's the one who's hired and is successful, he could be IU's coach for 25 years. He could be the long term solution for IU.
-
I don't remember Bo Ryan a lot of highly ranked players yet he was able to win over 70% of his games at Wisconsin and make tournament runs. I don't follow UW closely so I may be remembering that incorrectly but that's how I remember them during his time - a bunch of 3 star and below players just killing it and pwning IU in the process. Maybe the occasional 4*.

Wait, we can recruit players from the NBA? We've been going about this all wrong.
-
I get that kind of quality insight while saving $3/month on paramount plus. What a win.

I don't know, hence my question about how long it takes to get players ready to play in the system. I'm not passing a judgement, I'm asking a question because I don't know the answer. Looking at Drake and saying not long doesn't prove it one way or another. Looking at their roster, they have a bunch of seniors. It might not take long since good coaches tend to be good teachers, after all, or it might take a year or two. Probably no one on this board knows the answer, which is fine. Why would anyone here have paid too much attention to him at the D2 level?
-
He brought a bunch of players that had been in his system with him. That helped a ton.
-
It's a bad thing if we're obligated to play in the Crown Tournament as one of the automatic bids.
-
I don't have much doubt that he can develop players. You don't win at an 80% clip without being able to do that. I think it speaks volumes that that player chose to stick with him rather than move up as well as a bunch of his players following him to Drake. Kind of like the loyalty Cignetti seems to get from his players. We've heard about how efficient his offense is and I guess he gives the players lots of freedom. I would think that the necessarily knowledge and discipline to perform well in an offense like that would take some time to develop. I guess my question/concern is how long does that take? This would likely have an impact on next year but it would also have an effect on recruiting/roster turnover in the future.
-
If that were the case, who would be the next option? Brownell? I'll take McGollum over him any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
-
Huh, who could have guessed that this would be your kind of response? You're usually so happy, relaxed, and positive.

How long does it typically take players to learn McCollum's system? He wins a lot but he's mostly been at one school so he would've had an established system and probably just typical turnover. This year his team starts a bunch of seniors who followed him from D2. So does anyone here know if he typically plays upperclassmen who have been with him for a while and learned the system or is it a mix that includes underclassmen? At the P5 level, it would be very hard to get a bunch of talented recruits to come in and ride the bench for a year or two if it takes time to learn. Even 3* players.

FWIW, Rabby is saying he (and the people that talk to him) thinks it'll be one of McCollum, Brownell, or McDermott. He says the McCollum noise has been getting louder recently and he hasn't heard much about McDermott the past couple of days.
