    Last minute season predictions

I'm confused by people who think that 21-23 wins and 5th in the B1G would still bring only a 7 seed. That would more likely be a 5 or 6 seed.
  2. Gelon ended up at State Fair Community College then Trinity then Bethel. It was announced after SFCC that he was transferring to Missouri State but I don't know if that ever happened or not. I think the head coaching change was before he attended.
  3. I'm pretty sure the only college basketball game actually played on an aircraft carrier was the MSU/UNC game, probably about 10 years ago. Edit: Yes, that game was in 2011. Syracuse and San Diego State also played a game on one in 2012. Wind had an effect on at least that game, but I think both. Not great playing conditions.

    Hoosier Fan Fest

I don't know if it is or not but my thinking on why it might not be allowed is because they'd pay the entrance fee which could be viewed as giving there players money.

Since an NIL event I doubt the coaches can be there except maybe as spectators and maybe not even that might not be allowed. L

(2022) - PF Noah Clowney to Alabama

I think Mason Miller's main issue was the offense under Archie Miller.

The days of the NCAA as the enforcer are over. At this point its a paper tiger, a neutered one at that. It's main purpose for existing - maintaining the façade of amateur collegiate sports - is out the window. Incompetence and hubris has been its downfall.

(2022) - PF Noah Clowney to Alabama

While Bates and JHS aren't top 5-10 they're closer to that than 50-150.
  9. It seems like a fair assessment of the program and the questions around it. I don't think many, if any, on this site expect them to finish that low but I also don't think many would be surprised if they did. Disappointed and upset, for sure, but not surprised after the last few years. He pretty well summed up how I, and likely others, regard this team. Potential to be good or even very good but it could easily go the other way.
  10. You're right. I guess I overlooked that.
  11. IU beats ranked Northwestern. I haven't seen Capobianco in the results for either meet this season. Anyone know what's up with that? I thought he was returning for his last season of eligibility. https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2021/10/16/mens-swimming-and-diving-no-5-11-hoosiers-break-three-pool-records-defeat-no-24-16-northwestern.aspx
  12. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/armaan-franklins-freshman-to-sophomore-evolution-was-driven-by-his-family/ Franklin made his big jump between seasons. That article makes it sound as though it had very little to do with Miller and company. I have a feeling Miller's practices focused on the system and not individual skills. Basically the opposite of Crean.

That pretty well sums up how I feel about it. I wasn't very disappointed when he decided to go elsewhere because I'm not sure he will be able to avoid season ending injuries. He's still young so it may change but I think his NBA asperations just took a huge hit, at least as far as being a lottery pick. From all accounts I've seen he's a very intelligent kid so he should be able to use his mind to earn a living if basketball doesn't work out.

    IUBB 2021 General Off-Season Thread

I hope it was #1 because #2 would mean that not only Galloway isn't picking up his game but that he's being mocked about it. That doesn't seem like the positive atmosphere we're being otherwise shown. My guess that it is #1 and TJD is just laughing at the idiosyncrasies in Woodson's speech like referring to himself in the third person or, in this case, pluralizing Galloway's and Geronimo's names, as you said.

  16. Mike Santa? I don't remember a player by that name.
  17. IU wins the first meets of the season. The men beat Kentucky 171-115. The women beat Kentucky 162-138 and demolished Indiana State 253-47.
  18. More about Paegle's meet. https://www.heraldtimesonline.com/story/sports/2021/10/05/bloomingtons-kristina-paegle-medals-world-cup-swim-meet/5998471001/

  20. You can't really worry about the bad times too much since it's a pre-season intramural meet without taper, especially for the younger swimmers. On the flip side, you can also look at the promise shown by the good times. At least, that's how I look at it. Like Josh Matheny had a bad meet. Big deal, he'll be fine by the end of the season and will likely earn NCAA points. He's just a few months away from having finished 5th in the 100 breast at the Olympic trials. Fantoni and Burns both swam well, which is expected.

I had similar uncharitable thoughts when I first saw this news.
  23. 2021 recruiting: The men have the #4 ranked recruiting class, including Josh Matheny who is an absolute stud. https://swimswam.com/ranking-the-2021-mens-ncaa-recruiting-classes-1-4/ The women have the #13 ranked recruiting class. https://swimswam.com/ranking-the-2021-womens-ncaa-recruiting-classes-13-16/
