Yes, I think Goode would win in court. If a player misses all but 10 games in a season with an injury, it seems pretty arbitrary to say that a player gets another season if, and only if, those 10 games are at the beginning of the season.

It's also day 1 of the portal. Give it a little time. -

You don't think we're going to be able to get 10 kids out of the portal who are very good offensively, very good defensively, high IQ, as well as quick and highly athletic? Crazy talk. -

No, the Galloway/Leal class (HS 2020) was the last to get that COVID year. His first 2 years he played 16 and 18 games which are too many to get a waiver for another year. -
So will IU find out who the other assistants will be soon? Were they all part of teams in the NCAAT? We know Murphy's team is still playing. Anyone hearing rumors about other potential assistants?
-
I don't know but they've reportedly given so-so players $2M (Great Osobor) so maybe a first team AA PG is worth $5.

So you're calling it for him to end up at UNC or Kansas when those jobs open up in the not too far future? I doubt he ends up at either one. What does UK and UL passing on other coaches have to do with them passing on Beard? The 8 billion other people they didn't hire makes no difference when talking about Beard. They didn't hire Beard when they could have. That is the point. IU has their coach. Pining for some other coach at this point is just pathetic. Pining for one with Beard's baggage is also gross. -

Cheaper? Are you sure about that? He already has a $5M salary and his buyout is $.45M. So I'm not seeing much savings there other than the inconsequential $1.5M more that CDD's buyout turned out to be. https://www.clarionledger.com/story/sports/college/ole-miss/2024/08/21/chris-beard-contract-ole-miss-basketball-salary-texas/74853744007/ Here's an Ole Miss message board. I agree, Rosemond could be a HC. Someone posted close to the end of the season IU's record when each of the assistants had the scout. His was by far the best record. He also has a lot of recruiting connections in the south east and we were successful in getting some of them. Walsh seems to be a decent recruiter. His name was brought up by a lot of recruits we had a chance with and a few we landed. He could help someone. Hunter seems to be over rated. He was supposed to be this great recruiter but has been ok at best. An assistant under 2 losing coaching staffs that spanned 8 years. Maybe a low major would take a chance on him as a HC but I don't know with that recent resume.

I agree that it's a good thing. -
Coached under McDermott, Hurley, and Oats. Knows how to work with agents and just sounds well connected. Credited with landing 4 and 5 star recruits at Alabama. He would be a really good hire if we can pull him away from the Tide.
-
Crean, Miller, and Woodson brought in multiple players that were roughly Dakich's talent level (better, actually, but still bad) and that didn't really work out.
-
The stuff I have seen doesn't expect him to be part of the staff.

They were obviously coached to do that since both players did the exact same thing at the same time. Wrap up the offensive player then fall down when he moves. Should've been T'ed up for something so obvious. -
It certainly doesn't hurt that his son is a pretty good ball player.
-
He's been a part of the losing culture at IU the last 8 years. For that reason alone he needs to go. Out with the old, in with the new.

Yes, but only one. I don't think it's allowed to have the offense run plays to get him shots, though. -

You're in luck. I don't think Mackey ever made it college so he probably still has eligibility left. Might have to wait for him to get out of prison, though. -

Yeah, if that goes to court the NCAA will lose. -

Another year of that dork? I hope NC State misses the tournament next year so we don't have to go through this again. -

Heading into the last 2 events of the NCAA Championships, IU is in a battle with Tennessee for 4th place, tied at 264 points. IU should be able to hold on to finish 4th ahead of UT, though. They have 2 divers set to score points on the platform, Liu qualified for the A final as the 2nd seed and Roselli in the B final as the 13th seed. This should give IU enough points to hold off UT after the 400 free relay, where UT is seeded 3rd and IU 8th. This will be IU's best finish in a while. Anna Peplowski won an individual championship for IU in the 200 free. https://www.idsnews.com/article/2025/03/indiana-swim-dive-anna-peplowski-ncaa-championships-iu-bloomington Edit: Skyler Liu is the platform diving champion This gives IU a 25 point lead over Tennessee heading into the relay. IU will finish 4th overall, their best ever. 4th place! -

Yep, the middle of the B1G was pretty close to the top. Unfortunately, the top isn't very good so it'll be a B1G bloodbath this weekend and next Thursday/Friday after the great start. -

I think you're both right. The SEC depth was over valued. They didn't deserve getting 14 teams in. The top of the conference, however, is very strong and will do well in the tournament. -
Surely fans wouldn't let 1 or 2 games affect their perception of a coach? *cough* Crean against Syracuse *cough* The stats Dolson gave and Drake fans perceiving him as bad at the end of the games can both be true. It doesn't mean the fans are correct though. An important game like a tournament game will leave a more lasting impression. One can only hope that he's learned from his mistakes. Players aren't the only ones who should constantly be working on improving.
