This thread has really gone off the rails. So much hand-wringing over a top 60ish recruit going elsewhere. It would've been nice to have landed him but it's not as though he is a program changing talent. Yes, IU has missed on a few others recently which is a bit concerning but the level of "woe is me" some people are showing is out of proportion imo. If IU does as well or better than expected this season, it should help recruiting. If they tank then recruiting will tank. IU is targeting a lot of highly ranked, very talented players in the next few classes. This season will make or break those recruitments, I think.

It sounds like we should just shut down the basketball program since it's doomed anyways. I'll miss it

UM dropped a spot in the AP rankings after this win because it wasn't convincing enough and they were tied at half. That shows how bad IU football is considered to be. I can't say I really disagree.

I hope after this IU will actually spend money on a coaching search then pay good money to hire a good coach. That would be a big departure from the usual going cheap on a coaching search then overpaying a mediocre to bad coach and dishing out a bunch of money to fire them.

I have my doubts which is why I wasn't too disappointed when he decided to go elsewhere. He also didn't end up playing all that much during his HS career so I wonder how quickly he'll adjust to college basketball even if he were healthy. From what I recall, he's a bright kid and UNC is a good school so he should do well even if basketball doesn't work out.

I'm not all sad that he transferred. I think this is an addition by subtraction in his case. Outgoing are 3 mid-major players. One of those, Stewart, seemed to have attitude issues. Incoming to replace those players are 2 top 30 recruits, another in the top 100, and a 3 star. So far, these 4 players seen like good guys and are willing to work.

While I agree with him regarding Tom Allen, this doesn't need to come from a school that has been worse at football than IU during Allen's time as HC. Nebraska is a joke. I hope we kick their a$$es.

I hope he feels there's nothing left to achieve at the collegiate level after winning a NC his freshman year.

Yes. Missing top talent and good coaching.

So is this the last winnable game of the season? I'd say so unless there are massive improvements. So probably another 2-3 win season.
