    Offensive Coordinator - Walt Bell

LOL - seems like something the kid would do. That being said, it would be hilarious. I think we all know how it will go if this guy is actually here 1 year.

He is bad… here’s the information that’s available I’ve seen thrown out there: His offensive efficiency numbers by year and team: 2014 - OC - Arkansas St 76th 2015 - OC - Arkansas St 78th 2016 - OC - Maryland 68th 2017- OC - Maryland 70th 2018 - OC - FSU 106th 2019 - HC - UMASS - 128th 2020 - HC - UMASS - 126th 2021 - HC - UMASS - 127th For reference, Coach Sheridan sat 84th in efficiency this year. For further comparison, here are the offensive efficiency numbers (from good years) at IU previously: Deboer: 2019 - 17th Wilson / Kevin Johns / Seth Littrel: 2016 - 53rd 2015 - 27th 2014 - 71st 2013 - 20th 2012 - 49th The numbers from former IU coaches are the numbers we know we need to compete in the B1G, and Bell is nowhere near them. I know Bell did great things with the rushing game at Maryland, or the passing game at FSU (think they finished top 2 in ACC that year), but his offenses still stunk. You can have all the stats that you want, but if your offense isn’t efficient, can't convert on 3rd down, stay on the field, win the turnover battle, or score when needed, then what good are stats?? Hopefully something changes!

How do I cancel my premium subscription??? I originally canceled in June and I have launched 2-3 support requests for this premium account to be canceled but I’m still getting charged. This has been happening since May. I know $12 isn’t a lot, but it’s getting pretty annoying that no one will help me and I cannot find a way to change my billing information.

Whoa whoa whoa. As a 25yo who was born and raised in Bloomington, got his degree here, and came back for a victory lap masters program, that is not the case! Any time the Hoosiers play a game against a ranked opponent in the Hall (not on Sundays because that’s a hangover day), that student section sneaks in alcohol and gets rowdy!!! As we learned with Duke, UNC, and MSU this year, blue blood crowds may play a larger part in a programs success than we thought, and I would go as far as saying our student section was an electric factor when we took down not 1, not 2, not 3 - but 6 ranked teams in 2019! It’s probably why Crean took down so many ranked teams (and got way too much credit for) at home as well. I may not know who the next coach will be, but I do know this: IU kids will always love to drink, and IU kids will always give other sports teams hell (especially good teams) whenever they come to town. Note: this is a comment about ranked teams at home. “Sister Mary’s State” home games are games that most people struggle to get excited for. And also Sunday games. Any Sunday game in the student section is painful.

Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

Bro.... archie actually did recruit well. In 2018 we finished 10th nationally in recruiting, and in 2020 we were 15th. He had 2 5-star recruits in a 4 years window, captured 3 Mr. Basketballs, 5 4-Stars, 5 3-stars. It’s not like we had a talentless roster - Archie just could not figure out how to coach them, or how to coach the right things. If you look at Archie’s offensive system, it’s better designed for mid-major conferences where a slight advantage in talent can give you that extra edge from a spacing, speed, and time-to-shoot perspective. That just doesn’t work in the Big 10 where everyone is basically on the same playing field.

Not to mention - South went undefeated in basketball last year, and will currently face CJ Gunn and Lawerence North in the Semi State Game this weekend. Not a bad company for his son to feed into.

Update from my original comments - strictly based on what I know and things I’ve heard: The VP of “Charitable Giving” at Cook, who regularly works with Carl Cook and Steve Ferguson on how money should be spent and what organizations they should give to, etc. is close friends with Dolson, and has close ties to my family. This is why we think Dolson’s specifically used the wording “private philanthropic funding”. Carl wanted to use this as a major tax write off and this statement was maybe his way to ensure that he could. I think Dolson has been keeping the Cook family backing in his back pocket for the day he became athletic director. As soon as he took the helm - he knew he was going to change things and he knew who he was going to to do it. I think this can be reaffirmed by his ability to move money around so quickly. A lot of trust in him in the Cook community. Dolson is very much like a lot of [old] IU fans, and he wanted better so (it is rumored) he started making feeler calls as soon as he became athletic director (before this season), and actually fired Archie last Thursday after they lost in the tournament. The team had no idea, Archie was supposed to keep quiet, and it actually leaked from Archie’s side that he was fired - I think he may lose money because of it. Therefore, they would have waited to X point in time to make the announcement rather than have all the cofuffle this week. Maybe the big name that Scott went for (to get that kinda money from Carl Cook) wasn’t Brad. But I feel like it would still have to be a big name who put out a higher level of commitment than a “maybe” when Scott went to get money. Otherwise, what was the point in firing Archie and raising the money to do it? I mean if you’re a true [old] iu guy like Scott, you know there’s only 1 person you have to go get to make the entire fan base happy, so why not have a plan in place to get the guy a year in advance? And like it’s rumored, he clearly did have a plan! I could be entirely wrong about this, but this is all my best guess based on what I know so far.

Whoa. Dolson should have been "the guy" for years... He is a true Hoosier and understands what fans want. He's doing things now that Glass would never do, and it should be known that Dolson didn't agree with a lot of glasses decisions. It's rumored that Dolson's comment "I will not be putting together a search committee" may have been a direct shot at Glass lol. Dolson is a Hoosier through and through.

Counterpoint: Carl Cook, this VP, and Steve Ferguson all work closely together for the purpose of this function. Not saying that the money would have come from this business function directly, but maybe Dolson asked these 3 to come together to discuss his proposal.

There also happens to be a “Charitable Contributions” business function at Cook Medical, and the VP in charge of that business function is very close with Scott Dolson. Merely speculating, but if I had to put my money on a person or group - that’s it right there.

I know everyone thinks “Mark Cuban”, but people forget about the Cook Family and Cindy Simon-Skjodt - the names literally on both Assembly Hall and the training facility “Cook Hall” right next to it.

Lol man. Dolson has stones. He spent money on IU Athletics for the first time EVER. We are paying assistant football coaches like Deland McCullough actual money, Tom Allen is getting paid. And now, it sounds like he has an inside track to an amazing hire because he’s not even putting together a search committee. THANK GOD for Dolson. Glass was soft AF.

All likeliness of interest/chances aside, I feel like this is the hierarchy of coaches to be considered: Dream Scenario (will probably never happen): 1. Brad Stevens 2. Billy Donovan Tier 1: 3. Scott Drew 4. Chris Beard Tier 2: 5. (A lot will disagree with this, BUT): Greg Marshall. Guy did get in trouble, but he’s an amazing coach that we would have never had a shot at before. Very Knight-like. 6. Eric Musselman - Killed it at Nevada - and went 21-5 this year! What a record! Never had less than a 20 win season as a head coach. 7. Craig Smith - Utah State head coach and COY in 3 different conferences. Very impressive record. Have no idea why his name hasn’t been tossed around. He’s like Musselman except 8 years younger. Tier 3: 8. Chris Jans - was under Greg Marshall for a long time. Currently head coach at New Mexico St - several winning seasons under his belt. This year his team somewhat under performed but he has had an impressive career. 9. Dane Fife
