(2018) SF - Jerome Hunter Transfers To Xavier
HoosierHoopster replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Wishing him luck and health too. Cam did everything he could to limit the 3 ball game, we shot it by numbers at the bottom of the B1G because of it, if we’re going to go about quoting people (above) then TJD’s quote early about how much more they now enjoy the game again under Woodson also is loud and clear…. yeah look at what Lander is saying about the clip himself. “all my boy needed was to be let loose.” Yes, I Think Lander knows what he’s talking about. Hunter went through a serious health condition, and lost a full year not just playing, practicing too, and whether he ever would play again at the level he was the summer before his injury was (maybe still is) a real question, but cam clearly held him back, he was starting to show but couldn’t under that crap that passed for cam’s offense. I’d bet on him raising his game this year, and if he does, good for him definitely wishing him health and good fortune! -

Hunter can play, CAM was an awful coach for him -

(2020) SG Anthony Leal to IU

Depth. We hear the word almost every season, but imo this team has it, with several guyscapable of having big games offensively (and defensively). -
Romeo Langford - BCM Gravelines Dunkerque
HoosierHoopster replied to Trish's topic in Hoosiers in the Pros
C’s looked like they got it together tonight, and Romeo with 27 min (second most off bench), 12 pts on 4-8 and 2-5 from deep (95-78 W over Miami) That actually has him at 10-20 and 5-10 from deep so far (5 games). Still a small sample size but he’s playing well and just maybe has the hand injuries behind him -

IUBB v Belmont - Secret Scrimmage
HoosierHoopster replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
With you, kid has that OG / Vic feel, serious athleticism, underrated shooting (he can shoot from deep and we'll see more of it), seriously strong defender, wingspan, hops, super high ceiling, and importantly, very serious work ethic. -
Not Consistent Anytime @$$'n
-
Yes Siakam has been out and OG won't take as many shots, but he's been getting more integrated into their scoring and that should continue imo, he's growing into a veteran and a key contributor

Prediction League (Game 1 - Eastern Michigan 11/9/21)

IU - 85 EMU - 63 -
He's turning into a major contributor for the Raps, he's been the steady 2-way player for them but was not a focus of the offense, that's been changing and is accelerated this season. His potential is really high, imo, always a monster defender, his offense, including from the arc, has been catching up.

Just tell her you’re the man of the house and you’ll be watching / attending any IU game you want :) hey, couch sleeping can be nice

IUBB v Belmont - Secret Scrimmage
HoosierHoopster replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Honestly not getting the handwringing. This is just a secret scrimmage, it’s closed so coaches can work on things without cameras, fans etc. That’s the point of a secret scrimmage, it’s, at least usually, not a free flowing regular game / scrimmage. And regardless, if it was actually played like a regular game and it’s necessary for some reason to make a secret scrimmage some kind of measuring stick on our shooting or progress, we shot fine and beat a solid team, and this is after sweeping the games in the bahamas, a pro team. Lol it’s a secret scrimmage! -
IUBB v Belmont - Secret Scrimmage
HoosierHoopster replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The way these usually work is that there are multiple stoppages throughout for the coaches to walk players through positioning, mistakes, sets, etc. No one has any inside info on how this secret scrimmage is going to be run, it’s a “secret” lol. -
Early Big Ten Projections (2021-2022)
HoosierHoopster replied to IUc2016's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't think it's an unfair assessment, that's not the same as my saying I can't see this team finishing in the bottom 5. And I can't. I would be really surprised if we finish in the bottom 5 -- this is clearly not the same team as last season, with the transfers, and it's coached by a very different (in my view, exceptionally better) coach, with an exceptional, new and experienced staff. Do we know where the team will finish? Of course not. But yeah, I can't see them finishing in the bottom 5. That would be more than a disappointment, it would be a real failure, with this team, and this coaching staff. -
Early Big Ten Projections (2021-2022)
HoosierHoopster replied to IUc2016's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I can't see this team (barring key injuries) finishing in the bottom 5, but it's definitely accurate to say we have a wide range of possibilities and things are fairly unknown right now. -
(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA

(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA
HoosierHoopster replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Appreciated. I wasn’t talking midrange though generally. To be a legit NBA prospect, he needs to show consistent shooting and that includes an outside shot. The proverbial big is largely dead in the NBA, you need to move more like a wing and you need to be able to step outside and knock down shots. Trayce helps us in many ways, he’s a clearly tremendous All American level player. But there’s a reason he and Woodson are talking about him stepping outside and shooting — just as Juwan did (with mixed success). And i love Juwan as a player, and he did work on his outside shot and he dud make an NBA team. For what it’s worth I’m maybe more optimistic on TJD’s ability to show an outside shot than some. He’s got a good stroke. He was clearly limited by CAM and that, uh, “offense.” I think we’ll see a decent level of shooting level from him this year side note, on my phone deliberately ignorring a meeting i’m in, sorry if what I’ve posted is already covered in the thread -
Archie vs Woodson (recruiting so far after 7ish months)
HoosierHoopster replied to Southside's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
And it's all circular really -- we win and we will land the top IN recruits, that fit what Woodson and staff are looking for. So it's really what you prioritize -- win, along with building the program with the right kind of players to wear the cream and crimson (which Woodson is clearly doing right now), with the best players we can bring in from wherever, and then we become the destination school, again, for the top IN prospects, and we balance the team with IN players who Woodson and staff recruit -- not just because they're IN kids, because they fit the team staff is building now and for the future. -
(2020) SF Jordan Geronimo to Maryland
HoosierHoopster replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Very high on Geronimo, his upside is way up there and he can shoot, we'll be seeing that this season. -
(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA
HoosierHoopster replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yes and Woodson pointed that out when they had their meeting that lead to Trayce coming back. I think we'll be seeing that as well -- -
(2021) PG Khristian Lander to Western Kentucky U.
HoosierHoopster replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Very much agree on the raw talent comment. He is uber talented, as a distributing point with floor vision, just hasn’t a) been physically ready for college ball and b) had an offensive coach who would let him run. I’d bet on him working his way in to good minutes this season and being key by next season
