Yes, though I think last season's B1G tourney and the NCAA tourney showed the team rounding into that level of form. JG and Bates' growth, along with the level of contribution of the strong incoming frosh I think will have us playing really well eventually, whether they're there this early on this season is the question mark I have, and mental toughness is part of it, but definitely agree it will help the team improve

People hated our 300-plus ranked non-con scheduling (for good reason, imo) but the 2022 noncon schedule is frankly brutal, talk about flipping the schedule on its head -- complete polar opposite in non-con scheduling. We're going to see fairly early on if the preseason predictions are on or off. I'm both encouraged by the non-con, looking forward to the power matchups, and a little apprehensive that we've bit off more than we can chew so early on. But -- even if the team loses more of these than we'd like, it does fit into that MSU-type scheduling that gets the team battle-tested early and from which it develops into a strong, tested team heading into conf play, and sets us up well for NCAA-selection, when there's no way the idiotic committee can downgrade IU based on SOS, like it clearly did this past season while favoring UM on its SOS while ignoring its poor overall record. Net positive.

So IU v UNC is the #1 v 2 frontcourt game, and we have #11 X as well early

Well, everything but the hair. Sorry -
Be careful what you wish for, lol. Def can’t feel dissed. We want to climb back up the ladder to being one of the power teams, starts here.

SIAP - Moren's Gold Medal with USA as asst coach https://sports.yahoo.com/teri-moren-wins-gold-usa-090121834.html#:~:text=Teri Moren wins gold with USA at FIBA U18 Women's Championships,-Megan Kramper&text=Indiana head coach Teri Moren,Saturday%2C March 19%2C 2022. Women's team, under Moren, is becoming a genuinely elite program. Maybe the men are too under Woodson. Having both elite, and with a bright future ahead, would (will) be special. -
Annoyingly ... :)

Probably. But then I remember when we had some Duke fans over on HSN back when Crean had IU on the upswing and they would post things like college bball needs IU relevant again. So ... we're getting relevant again, I tend to think the Dukes and UNC's see us coming. :)

I'm really encouraged by our depth -- however we might break down that depth at different spots, the depth of talent, both incoming and returning, and veterans is there. I'm not sold that we should be the pre-season pick for top of the B1G, but I am confident we'll be in the hunt with the top group, and that's a major step forward, great to see, lots of reasons for optimism going forward.

Well well well, JG working to play as a 3, working on his handle, jump shot and decision making. Hmm, seems we may have had a discussion about that possibility here … :)

B1G Standings Predictions for 2022/2023

I took finite math at IU -- because it had the word "finite" in it. Only math requirement for my major, done with math. Lol -
That's horrible, so sorry to hear this.

B1G Standings Predictions for 2022/2023

Very expensive school.... As in over $25K per quarter (NW is quarterly not semesters) My daughter got a full ride at Vanderbilt, so much better off. Not that this is any kind of newsflash, but if there's a scholarship or even just a good but significantly less expensive school out there, your niece would do well to focus on the ultimate cost of college now

Wherever we finish, if it’s 7 spots above Wisconsin I’ll be grinning. Let water find it’s level, the slow drip back has been a long one -
B1G Standings Predictions for 2022/2023
HoosierHoopster replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Agree but think it's Bates and JG. JG has that monster potential, while Bates is primed to explode offensively -
Agree, and similarly we often seem to think we're 'deep' only to find, not really, but we definitely are deeper across the floor. Galloway's injury hurts that, and I hope he recovers well and is back in action by December or so, and the wing / outside shooting is still kind of a question mark at this point, but there's good depth with experienced vets, rising sophs-juniors, and excellent incoming players with college ready bodies and athleticism. I'm stoked

Curry best player on the floor by miles, what a close out game
-
Golden State in 6? Well damn talk about stepping up, 3 in a row against this C’a team and closing them out in Boston is something — assuming they finish, bout 3 min left
-
Not many teams are gonna be able to out tough us —
-
I hope you're right. A groin pull is bad enough, but groin surgery to regular mobility to the fitness and explosive up and down for bball is a real task. It's really not a lot of time between now and October, and then there's all the practice time / scrimmaging missed. I would be surprised to see him in games before December.
-
I don’t think so. Out for months after groin surgery to me says he’s out at the start of the season and probably a while after, that’s a rough injury- surgery to get back to bball shape from

^^ And I LOVE this quote from Wiggins: "I feel like being here, it's a winning culture," he said. "They have won before, and they have dominated the NBA. When I got here, they put you in position to succeed. They always bring out the best in you. They want the best for you. You know, supportive." https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/34088217/andrew-wiggins-huge-double-double-effort-game-5-puts-golden-state-warriors-verge-another-nba-title That kind of sums it up. And side note, that's what I'm hoping to see building under Woodson at IU. A winning, supportive culture. We started into it last season. We've added a really nice 2022 recruiting class, with guys who have won and shown they buy in.
