I used to think Purdue fans were the absolute worst of the worst, but between being a follower of boxing and the toxicity within that sport as well as listening to the post-Covid musings of Walmart Wolverines, I think Purdue fans slightly moved up in my book without actually doing anything.

I get discouraged at times but I try and go back to this. I 100% believe this statement. In 2021 we were coming off a 12-15 season and hadn't been to the tournament since the Obama administration. I think Dolson handled it the best way possible given what was realistic at the time. Go to Brad Stevens and make him say no, and when he ultimately does then pivot to the most viable IU alum because going that route hadn't been tried and it would be the pool of people that actually wanted the job. We needed someone to first bring tournament appearances, general interest/excitement, and wins against Purdue back to the program and despite some of his teams' shortcomings Woody has done that.

The post about Dan made me think of Bobby for some reason too. Perhaps he does want to harken back to his days of playing for a fictitious version of Indiana. Also, I may be imagining things but did Bobby express interest in the IU job in 2021? Maybe it was Dana Altman. Anyhow, I feel like there was a guy from out west that was maybe interested at the time.

I have little clue as to where this recruitment lands but I'm hoping it's a rare instance where a legacy connection might make the difference for us. Just PUke and pUKe alone have gotten a total of three top-100 players in the '23 and '24 classes by way of kids of former stars at those schools. MSU's highest rated commit for '24 is also a legacy kid, Wilkins quickly committed to UGA, Harper to Rutgers, and the Boozer twins (both 5 stars) will I'm sure wind up at Duke just to name a few others. I would think for all the great players IU has had over time we would get lucky like that once in a while but to my knowledge that's never benefitted us.

That was my favorite IU game I've ever been to, with the Ohio State game that year being a fairly close second. I loved the team that year and I honestly thought they were maybe going to get that elusive big win at the end of regulation against Michigan. Just needed a stop on 4th and goal. That team could have easily been 8-4 with wins over a top-15 Michigan team and a 12-win Western KY team coached by Jeff Brohm, and also played #1 Ohio State to the final play of the game. The potential is there and I also am hopeful CCC can bring that level of excitement back.

The buzz around Ohio State is that Jim Knowles is likely headed to Duke. He coached there under Cutcliffe for 7 or 8 years so I wouldn't be surprised by that.

Fair question, but even if so those two would be searching in rarified air for their next guy, similar to A&M. I doubt we would have any candidate overlap with them.
