I think if he can fix his offense, he will be fine. But that’s been the biggest problem the last two year. Obviously shooters will help, but his offense is still based off of the pick and roll mainly. And in the last two years I have witnessed the laziest pick and rolls I’ve ever seen. It would be nice to see more ball and player movement. The shooting woes are likely to continue with the 3pt line moving back so TJD and Davis probably won’t have a lot of room and same for Smith slashing. That’s not really saying much and it is was apparent come selection Sunday that NET didn’t mean as much as people thought. Indiana was still really really bad last season. If you watched games and thought “this is getting better” then you’re blind. They lost 12 of 13 for a reason. The best time to fire Crean was 2011. Stevens had just went to his 2nd title game. Zeller was already committed. Indiana just had a disappointing season even with the low expectations it had. Then was the time to pull the trigger. You pull in Stevens, no one is leaving. Zeller was staying for two years. Yogi was still coming in because of Zeller. You’re still not answering the question. Duke, Kentucky, UNC and Kansas are all basketball first schools. If they went through the same 7 of 11 missed seasons as IU has, do you think they are keeping around their AD just because the swimming and golf have good teams? Kansas is bad now but they’ve been good. Indiana is arguably the worst football program in college football history. But it’s kind of a beautiful thing in a way. But I will say that Indiana was onto something under Wilson and hella confused under Allen. Wilson was at least giving us an offense to at least watch and we knew the defense would suck. Under Allen it’s been confusion on offense and continued bad play on defense. So I personally think Indiana needs to bring someone in who can sell tickets and hit that 6 win mark. Because if you can consistently hit that 6 win mark, you’re going to win 7 or 8 every now and then. Look at a team like Oklahoma State or Texas Tech. They aren’t national championship contenders but they have been crazy fun to watch. Oklahoma State has a good coach and they have an identity. So #1 would be setting a legitimate identity not crappy ELE or whatever it is. High flying offense that’s as fast as can possibly be and a defense that’s just there with some lucky breaks at times or a smash mouth offense that takes up as much clock as possible and a stingy defense. #2 would be a sort of rebranding. As in new uniforms and helmets. And I’m talking like awesome uniforms and not the basic stuff we have been getting. Sweet helmets that actually look great which we haven’t gotten. The adding of a color like black or gray as accents or even main uniform colors. #3 is creating an almost overloading of social media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube and whatever else there is. You should be able to find highlight video after highlight video of Indiana football on YouTube(same for basketball). For players and the team. That’s something that Indiana themselves should be doing as well as fans capable of doing it. Because it is tough. But Indiana has to start with an actual vision and Allen doesn’t have that. Wilson at least had a vision and it started to work. So we will see if anything really ever happens like that. It’s going to take a lot of time to build anything here. But at the same time you can spot when a coach isn’t good enough. Allen isn’t good enough. This team has regressed on defense and in discipline. But if someone wants to build IU and actually does it and leaves for Michigan or USC or something, we should be grateful they brought us that success. For some it is only about recruiting. And by that I mean, you only have to recruit Indiana kids and you can go 15-15 every year. I’ve had people on Twitter tell me that graduating kids and getting those 4 year kids is more important than winning. The next freshmen class coming in isn’t going to be setting the world on fire to begin with. It’ll likely take each of them at least a year to get going considering their talent level. But it is a weird mindset from so many fans that things are automatically better and that IU will start competing at the national level in the Top 10 because some Indiana kids are committing. The 2020 class was weak in Indiana as is. Leal is the likely Mr. Basketball and is ranked 99th in the 247Sports composite. That doesn’t mean he won’t be a good college player, Hulls was ranked 139th so. But Indiana wasn’t good just because it got Hulls. That team became what it was because of a Top 10 recruit and Indiana Mr. Basketball named Cody Zeller. Many think rankings don’t matter, but the majority of the time, they are correct. Outside of men’s basketball and football, the rest isn’t actually important to fans and boosters. Those are just sports that if they are good, you go “yay.” Men’s soccer is the best program at IU. Do people watch? Nope. Women’s basketball has started to become relatively decent. Do people watch it? Nope. There is a reason tickets to those games are $5. It took a 6 win season in men’s basketball to get a $5 seat... in the BALCONY. Which means, Glass’ success with hinder 100% on men’s basketball and football. Mainly men’s basketball where it has greatly struggled and not seen any signs of becoming not just a B1G powerhouse, but a national powerhouse. In football he hired a coach without even searching for a better one, which there were plenty. So his technical job might be about keeping every sport winning, but to keep his job, it will be 100% about men’s basketball and football winning. And if men’s basketball is winning, and I mean actually winning and competing with Duke, Kentucky, UNC and Kansas and becomes a top 10-15 team every single year under Archie or the next guy, then Glass’ job will be safe even if every other sports is complete garbage. 1. IU goes 20-16(9-11). Win 1 game in the B1G tourney and 2 games in the NIT(which I included in the record. 17-14 beforehand). 2. I would like to see a starting 5 of Phinisee, Franklin, Smith, TJD, Brunk. 3. TJD averages 14.0 ppg. Green 13 ppg. Phinisee 10 ppg. Durham and Smith 7 ppg. 4. Franklin starts half the season and plays about 18 minutes a game as a spot up shooter and spacer and ends up being the hustle guy this team needs. 5. Team struggles again offensively as Archie continues to run an offense based on lazy pick and rolls rather than ball and player movement. They just have to be better in the Big Ten period. But the program doesn’t have the talent, skill or speed. You watch our defense compared to others and you can see how slow our players are to react. Opponents are given so many yards before anyone is near them. Allen is supposed to be a defensive expert yet the same problems still exist. Throw it deep and you have IU beat, DB’s still don’t turn their heads, defensive line is weak, linebackers and DE’s are slow and DB’s are even slow.

I think a school like Boise State or UCF are good examples of schools who are fine being spring boards for coaches. And it is working great for them. At the rate this programs continues to go after 150 years or whatever it is, about time to join the MAC.

There are plenty of problems with the two money makers at the moment and I wouldn’t say it is all on Glass but that he does have to take some responsibility for it because of his position.

He’s a talented kid. And a fully healthy and engaged Hunter is going to help a team that is going to struggle offensively. But if the blood clot rumors were true, it will have to be closely monitored for the rest of his playing career. Chris Bosh was older, but yet it is still something that can end your career like it did his. And that’s definitely not something I want to see for him.

I just want the kid to play. He looked like an aggressive offensive player at Hoosier Hysteria last year which was a good sign. But after being out a year and maybe longer from legitimate gameplay, I won’t put large expectations on his return outside of a few points per game until he gets his feet wet. It may not be until his second season playing that he finally flourishes.
