I don’t think Wade is a serious candidate. -

Excellent McDonald’s example. Very easy to understand. -

Exactly…and Bennett actually won a D1 National Title. If you’re arguing for McCollum then let’s get Bennett lol. McCollum is way down the list so I think this is all a moot point…but alum and fellow fans wonder why we have to make a move every 3-5 years. It’s exact hires like this that do it. Could McCollum be a very good coach? Yes, but there’s an equal or even higher chance he’s a complete dud. No thanks when we have so many other viable candidates. And stop with the Cignetti talk and comparison..his mentor was arguably the greatest college football coach ever whom he coached with for multiple years. Cignetti also had more years in D1. -

In arguably the most important hire in our school’s history I just don’t understand why anyone would consider McCollum. A coach who has hardly coached multiple D1 games let alone Quad 1 games. Serious question. How many quad 1 games has he coached in his career? We need someone that is close to a sure thing. McCollum may end up being a great coach, but he could also end up being a complete dud like so many other up and coming coaches. Indiana can’t afford to find that out. -
A couple of titles more than likely. Hell, we had Title potential in his 2nd year. This Houston team is GRIT. They play the game the way it should be played. Hard and fundamentally sound

Do I think Brownell ultimately gets the job? No. But he’s more than a non-zero candidate. -

He’s not even listed on the latest hot board for coaches. Don’t hold your breath…though I would be in favor of the hire -

Using the poll you referenced…there multiple hires that would fracture the fan base a lot more than Chris Beard… Come on down Brownell. I’m telling you, Brownell is in the running and if he gets hired, we’re going to wish Beard was our coach. -

Honestly, and these guys aren’t even my 5th or 6th choices but you would need to go through Cronin and Buzz and maybe a couple others before you get to McCollum. McCollum may end up being a great coach…but at this particular time, IMO, we look elsewhere. -

Very good point. Rather amazing you have a few - not many - but a few of the same posters that resort to ad hominem attacks to others that are pro Beard and willing to look at him as a candidate. Guarantee these are the same people who claim they’re the “tolerant” ones too. It’s pretty tiresome. -

Mcollum is NOT the guy. He’s a candidate for a school like Iowa. Not Indiana. He could very well be a Ray Harper, or a Todd Licklighter or John Groce…this list goes on. -

I’m sorry. I just don’t have any interest in Chris Collins…nor do I think we will look at him. I think Beard is much better than Collins. -

If we’re throwing Chris Collins in the mix…then might as well throw in John Groce or Jerome Tang lol -

Yup…other than the great shot from the UVa kid, Beard wins a title at Texas Tech…and the fact that he has program in Ole Miss ranked in the top 25 in just his second year there is a testament to his coaching. Again, this search doesn’t need to get to Buzz or McCollum. I assure you, as “ISP” said, there will be a lot more pissed off fans if one of those two are hired and not Beard. -

Beard > Cronin. Certainly not everyone, but I would venture to say the majority of the fan base would feel we have a better chance of winning a title with Beard than Cronin. -

Let’s not totally discount May. Yes, today sucked but the extension is not necessarily a deal breaker imho. -

Interesting Reading other message boards from rival schools and they think May signing an extension gives Beard more of a chance at IU which scares them because, as one poster said “Beard would be scary good at IU.” Just noting who our rivals don’t want us to sign…and yes, Beard would end the final four drought for us in a matter of a few years, if not sooner. -

I’m still not convinced May is off the table…but yes, I agree, which is why I’m on the Beard train if May is off. -
