  1. I would agree that there have been disappointments among the players you listed…but I assure you Banks isn’t the answer right now. There’s a reason why he’s the last man on the bench outside of Leal. Race still did grab 14 rebounds yesterday. If Banks plays and takes more of Race’s minutes…I’m not sure we win the game yesterday.
  2. I think we should be playing 4 perimeter players with TJD down low. However, with X out, will make it more difficult to play like this, simply because we don’t have enough guards. But the 2 big lineup doesn’t seem to be working.
  3. Good adjustment and ran some offense. Finished on a very nice 30-11 run.
  4. Ideally we play 1 big in this game…issue is we don’t have anymore guards
  5. I’m beginning to think you’re absolutely right. This is just bad. He’s lost.
  6. I wasnt joking when I said earlier we don’t run an offense. We literally DONT. Our offense is try and score in transition.
  7. We don’t run an offense. It’s try and hope to score in transition.

    College Bball Thread

I was watching SC vs WKU last night. I didn’t see much of Lander so it prompted me to look up his stats. I can confidently say that IU was not the problem. Hindsight is always 20/20 but what is also clear is he shouldn’t have jumped early to college. He only plays 12.9 min/game…avg 4.2 points/ game and 0.6 assists/ game in a mid-major conference (C-USA). It made me wonder…as Lander was regarded as the #1 PG in his class…has there ever been a bigger discrepancy in high school rankings and actual play in college? Not sure if he was a top 500 player at his position. I can’t recall. I wish Lander well but wondered where we would be if Lander was actually the the player everyone anticipated him to be? I think we’d be sitting very nicely. Big miss on prior coaching staff and the high school scouts/experts that rank players.

I take it you’re a newer fan? The ‘05-06 squad was solid. They would’ve been very legit if DJ White didn’t fracture his foot twice and miss practically the season. We had high expectations that year. Killingsworth was a senior transfer so we never saw him and DJ team up. Another unfortunate injury. Killingsworth/White >> Trayce/Race to give you an idea of how good those players were. I encourage you to watch the Duke/IU 2005 highlights. Gives you an idea of how good Killlingsworth was as well as how excited our fans were for that team. Many claim that game was the loudest Assembly Hall has ever been. also Earl Calloway our PG that year resembles X. Incredibly fast. here’s the link:

DJ White in the 05-06 season with a fractured foot. Had very high hopes that season much like this years. Him and Killingsworth down low. We were preseason ranked and ranked for a good portion. Got in the tournament as a 7 seed and lost to the 2 seeded Zags in the 2nd round. That was Davis’ last year. I imagine a 7 seed now and we’re happy…my have times changed LOL.

Let’s hope X makes speedy and full recovery. This is a significant loss….could very well impact our wins and losses. Don’t know what the timeline is but let’s hope X can get back before the tournament with a game or two under his belt. I would hate to have to play a fully healthy marginally seeded IU team in the tournament that’s playing their best ball.

IUBB vs Elon - Tuesday, 12/20/22 @ 7:00 on BTN

Sloppy play and lackadaisical…Both of which have plagued this program now for years. But we won, so we won’t argue with winning…

This is correct. Let all hope he continues to be consistent. He’ll certainly have opportunities.

Outside of TJD…not sure there’s a bigger loss if X misses significant time.

Completely agree. It’s still too early to call him a bust…but we can’t pretend he hasn’t been a disappointment so far. If Bates was the player many thought he would be at this point, an injury to a person like X would soften the blow…but Bates simply isn’t.

Read the full article. It even mentions extended time. We’re not taking away anything different…simply using CMW exact quotes. Doesn’t sound promising.

We would love for him to get back Asap…however, based on the quotes I’m reading from Woodson’s show…this appears to be a long term situation. Let’s all hope JHS stays healthy and has no more back issues….but I fear this is going to be a real tough blow….I don’t think X is replaceable…certainly nobody on our bench is going to replace his offensive production and defense.

    Xavier and Race

Yikes! It doesn’t seem overly promising that X will be back anytime soon. On Woodson’s radio show he said…”We’ll wait on X if he ever gets the chance to come back…but right now we need to move forward with what we got.” Really tough. Let’s hope for the best and that he can return some time during conference play. There’s no way to sugar coat this, this is a very tough blow for the team. When is X is on, he an all conference player. Even more, his position is the most important on the court. It will be hard to replace his production. Bates isn’t there yet and isn’t a primary ball handler. This program has certainly faced its fair share of hardships and unlucky breaks over the years…almost like we’re cursed. Hope X gets healthy.
  19. Greenberg mentioned this yesterday. Said our defense was simply awful. As has been the case for years…This is another IU team that lacks shooters so if we’re bad on defense, we’re cooked.

How far away is IUBB from being elite again?

I wouldn’t be too concerned about next years recruiting class. We’ll hit the portal hard. FYI - I saw some stat (maybe ppg) where the older transfer players are making up much more production than true freshman.
  21. These just aren’t 3 losses. What’s concerning is we’ve had our ***** kicked in these games. That doesn’t happen to really good teams. We have a long way to go to close the gap.

How far away is IUBB from being elite again?

What could’ve been? We’ll never truly know. Though I suspect a couple national titles and several Final Fours…no reason to think otherwise. He also had really high character kids coming in. Matt Roth, Elston, Pritchard and Devin Ebanks.
  23. Please spare yourself. It was a total embarrassment.
