Penix is the starter for week 1. He has led the #1's at every practice since the scrimmage on Saturday. They might not announce it till next week but he's the guy.

I agree 3 or 4 years ago I called him out on a couple of things he said one week, then the opposite the next week and he blocked me on twitter. He had great ratings and I think it went to his head. TV Dan is like, radio Dan not so much

How do you know they cowered to players? The practices I was at I never saw that. I also never saw Dan at practice, now i did see him at a walk-thru but not at practice.

I do know that Franklin has been running some point to just have another ball-handler in the future.

Do they even exist?

I do not know. One day I will hopefully get to sit down Mike and I will ask how this came about. This hiring was as quiet as any I've ever been around. So I really don't know if he was our first choice or second.

I know Mike personally he worked for me at IU for two summers. Awesome dude. The nicest guy still comes to say Hi when he is in town. Quick story, one summer Tim Garl brought me Mike Roberts, Ryan Tapac, Mark Johnson, Rod Wilmont, AJ Ratliff and Robert Vaden who all needed summer jobs at IU. The job was 8-4:30 Monday-Friday. We couldn't fire these guys. Mike was there every day for the whole summer, never missed a day, an hour, nothing. Was always so nice, spoke to everyone, got along with everyone, and was a hard worker. Pretty much the same with Tapac, Johnson and Wilmont. Now Vaden and Ratliff was a different story, they usually rolled in around 10 or 11 and left for the day by 2 or 3. Then they were always upset that their pay wasn't that much. Anyway, I have the utmost respect for Mike Roberts.

One thing that excites me about this hire is Mike will handle all of the fall workouts, just like Schilling did. This is what fits Mike the best, he will get the most out of these kids, he is not afraid to get on someone. He will jump right into this role and run with it.

One thing I do want to say is this site had Mike Roberts before everyone else did. :-)

Every other year there’s going to be a McDonald’s all-American from Indiana, get that guy like a TJD, then get the next best players from the state the rest of the years.

It gets old hearing we need an IU guy, then we get an IU guy, and some people go oh not him. We’re all IU!!

I do know Romeo changed Archie’s mind on recruiting. That’s why you see Leal & Galloway. If you can get a great player fine but take good players and coach them up. Add a Lander and you’re good.

I have a feeling that Indiana is about to start being Indiana again. Have the Indiana kids, things seem to be headed in the right direction or it’s the beer talking

I’ve met the OC once, and I know Tom Allen went to Glass for the money to get a big time hire. But I worked with Mike when he was here and he loves this place. He knows what’s it like to play at IU and would probably do it for 100K

That OC is making double what Mike is. But I guarantee you that Mike is going to work his butt off. He love IU.

I think player development. He has been credited for getting 3 or 4 players to the NBA in the last so many years. Not bad for a guy at UNCG

Well this team member worked for me in the summers and I can say he's the nicest IU player I've ever met. You probably had a class or two with him or at least saw him around campus. He was very smart. He did not play in any of those games though :-)
