They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

This is what's missing with the NIL! Too much money given to kids (and their family) with little accountability! These kids were given this money because of there talent, past resume'/performances and future potential. Once these kids get this money or benefits from it, many of them most likely don't know how to handle it/manage it while still trying to put a productive product on the floor every game. -

.....the stupidist thing I've ever heard! For one, ANY coach who seriously goes to his boss, the AD and basically "tells on the the fans" to not boo anymore is a next level low! The AD's only answer has to be, "Well, make them stop yourself, start winning!" If Dolson is done with Coach Woodson, then he's definitely not going to do anything about it. There is NO WAY in H#LL you can call out fans to stop booing.....They will just boo more! -

Firing him midseason establishes optics that the University is serious about an immediate change and new direction. -

I'm definitely not trying to drag this out and sorry if it has already been officially established, but did she 100% say he is gone at the end of the year, or is it just assumed? Asking for a friend. -

I have a feeling the next coach will be won't have an ounce of trouble getting the players he wants. -

Things will definitely be getting uglier, the more we under-perform and lose. I just hope Dolson's hands aren't tied right now with some "red tape" within Woodson's contract about firing "in season"..... -

Yes, I am…..I do remember the 1981 National Championship! I graduated in 1986, but I was in middle school in ‘81 and knew then when I graduated Martinsville HS, that IU was the ONLY college I would attend and proudly graduate from! -

It’s definitely going to get a whole lot worse for him as well as all of us IU fans. We want nothing but success, positive national attention, including rankings and an attractive tourney resume’ each year. All of these things attract talent and afford more wins year in and year out! I may be speaking for many others on here, but I am thoroughly embarrassed and “madder ‘n a mashed duck!” I’ve seen success when we were regularly on top of the mountain and know how glorious it felt. In 1987 I was on campus in Wright Quad lobby with my girlfriend watching the National Championship game. When Keith Smart hit that shot to win it all was a euphoric memory that I will cherish for ever! Everyone flooded the exit doors screaming and yelling at the top of our lungs! We hit Showalter Fountain then onto Kirkwood for more pandemonium! If you were there it was absolute paradise!!! I miss the love and admiration we all had for Indiana University. We were an absolute machine! Sorry, I just got caught up in that time warp! Go IU!!! -

Somewhat…. I just don’t know the logistics or legal protocol when showing interest in a potential coaching replacement when the current coach still has a job. I mean, if Woodson has been told he won’t be returning next year, all bets are off. Bottom line, I would imagine that Brad, Dusty and whoever else Dolson has his eye on stays in contact somehow through all this. If there is legitimate interest from Brad to IU still, then full steam ahead, I say. If not, then all focus needs to be finding a new #1. -

Just a thought,…..could it be that Dolson is carefully doing back channeling and is trying to get legit interest from his top candidate/candidates before letting the ball drop on Woodson? -

.....looking back, playing or coaching girls basketball, travel and HS Softball,.....I have never been a part of any program that was so out of touch and disconnected as this program. I don't know how this current team can do it day in and day out, trying to disassociated themselves from all the negativity. The current "Optics" are crystal clear. We are a rudderless ship right now and no clear sight of the harbor! -

....I agree to some extent. Winning, especially with IU basketball used to be the norm for decades. I think most of us on here can agree that if we saw much better coaching on a consistant basis, wins wouldn't be so hard to come across. That being said, a loss with the same type of improved/better coaching is more palpable. The quality/results of our losses are where everyone is scratching their heads about. A better coached team easily puts us in the top 3rd of the BIGTEN. IMO. -

....ohhh to know the dynamics of that locker room after the game! Who knows how many players are behind Woodson or not. There could even be some "behind the scenes" mutiny, or the complete opposite. One thing for certain,....the "OPTICS" have shown how discombobulated this team is from the coaching to the players. Like I posted yesterday, the video of Goode redirecting both Coach Ya and Woodson is extremely damning for them and a direct reflection of the current disconnect of a coaching staff. When you have a player going out of his way to "save face" for his coaches shows the love and respect he has for the game and this entire team. The "optics" show Woodson has met his match and looked as though he was "tapping out"!!!......
