We get it @Stuhoo, you're concerned about his D1 experience. Totally makes sense. I'm here to tell you though he'll end up somewhere else other than Drake and will be someone's thorn in their back. I promise you. This guy just coaches and coaching matters. I'd be extremely comfortable IU hiring this guy. That doesn't mean he'll be successful in the Big Ten. And yes, it would be an "experience gamble" giving this guy the keys. But like I said, I'll be really comfortable knowing he's driving the IUBB bus just like I was when Dolson finally got serious about hiring a proven winner for IUFB. Coaching matters. There's like only one coach "in the market" (Mark Few) with this kind of win percentage. Coaching matters.

Yep, close games like that can be picked apart with what ifs. Make a free throw here, stop an easy bucket there, etc. etc. Bottom line, his team is still 1st in the conference.
-
They don't win like McCollum. Neither have any rings, notice the plural, at any level. IUBB's next coach should have a resume with championship experience. Every fan should expect that.

Yeah, well, the Dude abides.

Just, take it easy, man.

Coaching candidates Non Stevens category

Whoever hires McCollum will be getting a guy that can flat out coach. Coaching matters. -
I didn't go back and read, can someone please get me up to speed on the current status?
-
Yeah, waving the effin' gun around!

Just take it easy, man.

Hear me now, believe me later. We're gonna regret not hiring him.

Head to head: One game on record, B over A in a D2 final four game.

Except McCollum. LOL! ;-)

Potential Coaches Approval Rating (Poll Closes Thursday at Midnight)

I'm 100% sold on Ben McCollum. He's coming to my neck of the woods in a couple of weeks. I'll be there to watch his rag tag bunch put the beat down on UE. His first year in D1 and he's first in the Valley with four D2 transfers from his previous team not only on the team but starting. He' basically a point guard whisperer and if he's not coaching in Bloomington he'll be a thorn in our back. Because he'll end up in the Big Ten at Iowa or something. And he'll win multiple championships. His career winning percentage is .815 and his current D1 winning percentage is .916. The guy can flat out coach and coaching matters. -
Brad Stevens isn't coming to IUBB. He's the puppet master of THE most storied basketball program on the planet. Please move on from him folks. Dolson should take the gloves off and take a wrecking ball to any walls on the next hire. If he doesn't get any takers from the big fish go straight after Ben McCollum. Coaching matters.

Who will be HC at IU to start next season
Lebowski replied to Scotty R's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The season isn't even over and I think most of us have pretty much tuned out. Admittedly, I haven't really focused on IUBB since the Crean days. His teams executed better compared to all other coaches since him. But that doesn't mean his teams executed to satisfactory. I did focus a little a couple of years ago when TJD and JHS were on the floor. Most of us have an idea what a properly coached team looks like. Some of us were spoiled to have a coach that did that for three decades here at IU. I know everyone is wanting their particular coach but in my opinion hiring a coach that has a track record of success wherever he's been should be the focus. Having said that, Stevens hasn't coached for 4 years now and why in the world would he even want to at this point. He's an executive for arguably the mecca of basketball. Leaving that kind of the job at that kind of place of employment to coach IUBB is a demotion and quite frankly, insult to him. The guy is the puppet master for THE most storied program on the planet. He alone will make the decision to return to coaching and he alone will have his choice of where to coach. IUBB won't have any power to sway him here, regardless of the amount of money thrown at him. Calling him is fine and all but he'll be making the phone call to us in the end. May isn't the type of coach I am talking about above. He's successful, yes, but all of us know what a special coach looks like. He's really only had two or three good seasons. Shoot, a lot of y'all would be upset with his coaching now at UM, where he's currently 16-5 and third in the conference. Some of y'all have expectations to be top 1 or 2 in the conference every year and this isn't a bad expectation. May has only won a conference once during his entire career. Whoever is the next coach at IUBB Dolson needs to take the gloves off. Going after a Pitino, Self, Pearl, Calipari, Sampson, Few, etc. etc., should be on the table. I'm also not opposed to going after someone like Ben McCollum. But with the expectation level the fanbase has at IU, big time successful coaches with a championship track record should be the hired goal. I voted McCollum because I think that'll be only one we'll be able to land. And it might even be Dolson's first choice. -
Coaching matters. Wherever he ends up he's probably going to succeed. Because this guy is just getting started at D1. And whatever Dolson decides to do, his Cig hire helped him make the "non conventional" decision. I'll say it again, coaching matters.
