    So some concerns I’m having...

I think I understand what you're saying here. I do see a much better defense under CAM. If I'm being completely honest I see a much better fundamentally rounded team under CAM. And last year they progressed as the season went on. Maybe his identity is a defensively minded team? Who knows. I will say he's got to fix those darn free throws though!

    So some concerns I’m having...

They got outplayed and completely bullied on the floor. Since that Arkansas game that toughness has been missing. Honestly though, I'm not too worried about it. Confidence is contagious and once that starts to spread in the locker room again that swagger will come back. If it doesn't then this is going to be a very long season. And I would be completely surprised and utterly shocked if Zion is not the overall #1 pick in this year's NBA draft.

    Injury Updates

Can someone on here provide the current injury report?
  4. Not sure. They ran an RPO. So depending on what the defense was giving them pretty much dictated what Ramsey did. When Scott was in I would imagine the defense tried to contain the 5 yards a carry he averaged and therefore forced Ramsey's/DeBord's hand. With the exception of the MSU game IU was able to run the ball somewhat effectively (Not world beaters but average), considering. Stevie Scott was really one of the major bright spots on the offense this season. He and Whop really impressed me this season. And Scott's only a freshman. I hope he's able to improve during the off season. I was also impressed with the improvement from Ramsey as well. Peyton was a sophomore and hopefully next year he's able to take that step to the next level.
  5. I'm not sure I fully understand what you are saying. The top rushing back on the team was a true freshman and is currently ranked 21st in the nation in rushing and averaged something like 5 yards a carry. All other backs were limited in carries. I wouldn't call the line super weak. I would agree that the line wasn't what it was when it had two NFL draft picks on the front five during the time both Coleman and Howard were the exclusive backs. Personally I think the current OL is an average FBS OL. In my opinion, I wouldn't count on IU getting a line like they had during the Coleman and Howard days on a consistent basis. No matter who's the coach. It'll be nice to have that kind of luxury but IU Football just doesn't get that historically speaking. It is what it is. If I had to guess the reason for not having more rushing yards this year I would point to the passing stats. IU was more of a passing team this year. They were like 3rd in the conference in passing.
  6. I hear ya. I'm not sure I would call it underachieved. We're talking IU football here.
  7. Wilson wasn't the right guy for the state of Indiana. I wish him the best of luck on his endeavors. I wholeheartedly agree next year is a very big year for CTA.
  8. Man, a lot of folks are calling for CTA's head on here I don't see it that way at all. Compared to Wilson, Coach Allen has won two more conference games and five more games at the finish of their 2nd year. And of those first 2 years under Allen the Hoosiers were one game away from bowl eligibility. It took Wilson 5 years to go bowling or even have a chance to go bowling. IU has a grand total of losing 3 starters on the offense and 4 on the defense. That's, wait for it, 7 total starters! This team is extremely young. Like way young! Not to mention the 2019 commits is one of the best the school's had in awhile. IU football is in a division that is and will always be an up hill battle for this program. When you see a school like Northwestern winning the west division the way they did you quickly realize just how incredibly difficult it is for schools like IU, Maryland and Rutgers. If he thinks he needs to relieve his duties as DC to do other things for the team then I'm fine with that. I really think this program is going in the right direction. For example, this year they were able to get a couple of in state recruits that would typically go to some other program commit to IU. The program has an open door policy for the high school coaches in state. And from what I understand a lot of these high schools coaches really like that. He's an Indiana guy and if he actually succeeds I'm not sure he'll leave. There's a lot of upside here and I hope he succeeds.
  9. All these comments are music to my ears. Defense and high quality shots baby. Love it.
  10. 10 boards from a guard like Romeo in a CAM system doesn't surprise me one bit. I think I remember something from last year where he said he wants to see something like 7 boards a game from the guards?
  11. After that thumpin' from Iowa I changed my tune. IU might not even win 5 games this year.
  12. I'm pleased to see the higher up folks at IU made a due process decision on this matter and I hope the victim is being surrounded by good people to help her move forward. As for, Mr. Ellison, he's starting to understand what a societal paradigm shift is.
  13. They're going into the meat grinder now. But honestly after 5 games under their belt I'm looking at all home games (minus Penn St.) as a likely win. That could put IU at 6 with the potential of 7 or 8 (possible upsets against Penn St. or Michigan) wins going into the Bucket game. We're talking IU football here so my glass half full outlook is more so delusional than anything else.
  14. Is there a younger Nunge playing with Lander in AAU or something?

IU vs MSU: 9/22 7:30PM BTN

In regards to this game, if IU can run the ball and stop the run I like the Hoosiers' chances. It will all come down to the front 5 and front 7 though. I'd like to see some defensive takeaways that results into points. If that happens IU has a really good chance winning the game.

LOL!!! Here's to hope. His formula must put the Irish up there. Because Richmond, Central Connecticut, Old Dominion, UMass, and Ohio aren't really SOS power houses. Ya feelin' me?
  17. A lot of season to play out. So much can happen.
  18. IMO, Belmont really fits his style of play.
  19. Great win! Horrible weather. Power 5 opponent. Front 5 and front 7 controlled the line of scrimmage. Ramsey and Scott is exactly what Coach Allen is looking for on the offensive side. It's not pretty but effective. Ramsey's ability to run the ball is the reason why Scott racked up 200+ on a power 5 conference football team. If Virginia didn't adjust after IU's first drive, Ramsey more than likely rushes for 100+ yards. Ramsey was able to read his options effectively and Scott let his front 5 open holes for him. It was absolutely beautiful to watch. Most importantly, IU was able to run the ball and put Virginia in a lot of 3rd and longs all while the defense pretty much won this game and that will be the mantra of IU football under Coach Allen.

Kinda, but there's a lot to his story. I don't recall him going as high as 4*. But I could be mistaken. Regardless, I think I understand your point, there's another RB in the waiting if needed. If that's not what you meant my apologies for misunderstanding you.

I thought Ramsey played well. I don't see a reason to bench him for Penix at the moment. The RB position is 4 deep. So I don't think it's as bad as it might look. I think folks like Brookins and Majette will have to step it up. Scott and Walker will more than likely not be red shirted, unfortunately. And by the end of the season Walker might be the guy. And it looks like they're going get Taylor some touches as well. Personally I don't think Taylor as a traditional RB. I see him more as a slot/wing or wildcat. A type of guy you want to make sure he gets the ball out in the open.
