This team hasn't developed like I wish they would have. And the same exact issues consistently happen every season since CAM has taken over. I imagine we'll get at least one more year of CAM. After that, who knows.

This topic is to discuss any recommendations you would like to do to the current CFP system. I'll start. A 16 Team Playoff System Conference champion gets an automatic bid with the remaining spots being an at-large bid determined by the CFP rankings. All games played in the tournament will be the current bowl games established with the higher seeded team being allocated a bowl based on regional proximity to the school. First Round games will be non NY6 bowl games and start the second Saturday of December (a total of 4 weeks). All games after the first round will be NY6 bowl games. Here is what a 16 team playoff system would have looked like last year: 1 LSU (SEC Champ) v 16 Miami OH (MAC Champ) - R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, New Orleans, LA 8 Wisconsin (At-Large) v 9 Florida (At-Large) - Liberty Bowl, Memphis TN 4 OU (Big 12 Champ) v 13 Boise State (MWC Champ) - Frisco Bowl, Frisco TX 5 Georgia (At-Large) v 12 Memphis (American Champ) - Music City Bowl, Nashville TN 6 Oregon (PAC 12 Champ) v 11 Utah (At-Large) - Redbox Bowl, Santa Clara CA 3 Clemson (ACC Champ) v 14 App St. (Sun Belt Champ) - Belk Bowl, Charlotte NC 7 Baylor (At-Large) v 10 PSU (At-Large) - Armed Forces Bowl, Ft. Worth TX 2 OSU (B1G Champ) v 15 FAU (Conference USA Champ) - Quick Lane Bowl, Detroit MI Here is what the 2020 season looks like 1 Bama (SEC Champ) v 16 UAB (Conference USA Champ) 8 Cincy (American Champ) v 9 Georgia (At-Large) 4 ND (At-Large) v 13 Oregon (PAC-12 Champ) 5 TX A&M (At-Large) v 12 Coastal Carolina (Sun Belt Champ) 6 Oklahoma (Big 12 Champ) v 11 IU (At-Large) 3 OSU (B1G Champ) v 14 San Jose St. (MWC Champ) 7 Florida (At-Large) v 10 Iowa St (At-Large) 2 Clemson (ACC Champ) v 15 Ball St. (MAC Champ)

Game Thread - Outback Bowl vs Ole Miss Sat 1/2/21 12:30pm ABC

I think the running game will be a big factor in this game. If our beloved Hoosiers are able to stop the run on D and run the ball on O I like their chances to bring home the hardware. I think IU's blitz package will confuse the crap out of Matt Corral and his front 5 just like they've done with every opponent they've faced. However, having said all that this game will probably be close. (I hope not!) That's just how the Hoosiers play football. It was rare to see blow outs by this squad. That's no knock on them. That's just how they play. They fight and have grit so they'll show up like they have all season long. I think Auburn runs a 4-2-5 like Indiana and Ole Miss was held to 28 pts that game. Obviously completely different athletes on the field etc. etc. to make the comparison but the scheme itself is something not 'traditional' when it comes to packages etc. etc.. Does anyone on here know of any other SEC school that runs 4-2-5? Best of luck to the Hoosiers! -
I'd like to see all conference champs get automatic bids and schools like this year's IUFB be able to battle for a championship. In my opinion if you win your conference you've earned a right to battle in the big boy arena. Basically it allows the group of 5 to play at the table. And I think the only way that can happen is a 16 team playoff system. I mean Mack Brown is talking about breaking up the entire college football environment into two separate 'leagues' for championships!? A Group of 5 Championship and a Power 5 Championship. That's all just my opinion though and it means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Just updated the final CFP rankings and conference champs. Our beloved Hoosiers would be battling against the Sooners the first round! Only two B1G schools represented in the round of 16. SEC has 4 representing, *ACC has 2, and the state of Indiana has the most schools qualified in the CFP 16 with 3 (Indiana, Notre Dame, and Ball St.). *ND is typically an Independent but due to COVID-19 they are affiliated with the ACC in 2020.

I wholeheartedly agree about the Nebraska fans. It's a cool setup they got going on there as well.

Man, Dabo Swinney really thinks the Big Ten sucks. Well, I guess he'll be able to prove it come Jan. 1. -

I'm not sure IU would be ranked in the top 4 had they beat OSU and went undefeated. It's abundantly clear there is zero respect for them. -
Give Coach Tom Allen a MONSTER extension.

Auburn football fans are excited about #IUFB, man. Let that sink in. #LEO -
I wouldn't put it past OSU doing this exact thing.

Man, I never thought in a million years I'd see something like this. To top it off, it looks like the state of Indiana is actually a football state! LOL! Quick question here, what does that mean, strength of record?
-
Rant start Now that I've had some time to think about this I've realized something. Us Hoosier fans are now getting a taste of what it's like to be a good football team in the hunt and how incredibly awful the entire FBS/CFP system truly is. Think about it. This happens to a team every single year and this year it's our beloved Hoosiers. I have zero doubt if PSU, Michigan or Wisconsin had the exact same record as what IU currently has they'd be ranked in the top 6. Zero doubt what so ever. Bottom line, either OSU is worthy of a 4 ranking or they aren't. The CFP committee can't have it both ways. Rant over Congratulations on being ranked 12th in the CFP this week! Go Hoosiers!

I see your fun and raise you with this. Bucket game gets concealed. OSU comes down to Btown for a rematch this Saturday.
-
In my opinion, which means absolutely nothing, unfortunately the Big Ten in general is just soft this year. Both PSU and Michigan really pooped the bed for any talk of two Big Ten schools in the CFP. I foresee two 'ACC' (ND and Clemson) teams in the CFP. (Technically, the Irish aren't ACC but hey it's 2020.) Had both PSU and Michigan played well this year we might be talking about IU being ranked in the top 4 because OSU might have a loss or two on their record. But I do like what you're thinking here and the fact that we're even having this discussion about Indiana football is freaking awesome! Food for thought, I suppose one could argue the best win was the overtime win over #8 PSU at the time. And how lucky is OSU to have only played two road games this season? I mean regardless IU has to take care of business before any of this to happen. Bucket game this week. Go Hoosiers!

If this success continues we need to get used to the revolving door. Part of CTA's job is hiring the proper folk for his team. Regarding OC, last year he hit a grand slam with the Kalen DeBoer hire. He was gone in one year. A couple years before he got on base a few times with the Mike DeBord hire. This year's hire has been an awesome internal hire that kept continuity. However, that will not be the normal. Nick Sheridan will most likely move on the greener pastures after this season. Money talks. It's nothing personal, it's business. Something to think about, Kalen DeBoer was getting paid 800k for that one year IU. Some folks here have hit the nail on the head. Here's a prime example. IU's last HC was paid roughly 1.3 million for 5 years. The only exception was his last year at IU where he was getting paid 2.3 million. He's now getting paid 1.2 million to the be the OC at OSU. IU's current OC is getting paid 450k. You can see the stark difference here and the revolving door will happen should the success continue. Being able to make the right hires in order to reload so to speak will require a nice lure to entice established coaches. That's why you see fired power 5 HC going back to being the coordinator coach he specialized in that got him the HC in the first place at the top programs in the nation. I just provided the example of OC. CTA has to do this with every single coach on his staff. And I didn't even go into the Coach Mike Hart's of the team. If the athletic department is real about wanting this program to be top tier it will have to compete with the top tier programs at the administrative level as well. I will say to be fair, when Kevin Wilson got hired by OSU his base salary for his first year there was 650k. (If I had to bet the baggage Wilson brought to OSU also played a part in the salary negations.) So if you compare that to what IU paid DeBoer's first and only year, 800k, you can see IU is actually going in the right direction here. -
I'm betting Iowa. It only makes sense. Hopefully it's a home game. Side note: That would make our beloved Hoosiers playing 5 ranked teams out of 9 total games on the schedule.

Yeah, if I were on the CFP Committee (which I am not) this week I would have voted for IU to sit at the #9 or #8 spot. ISU's loss to the UL Ragin' Cajuns is a big giant blemish (like huge) to have them sit at 9. And I get the SEC love fest from all the folk that make the calls but Georgia had two bad, like really bad, losses to Bama and FL. IU's only blemish is a close loss to #4 OSU on the road. I get it, Georgia is a good football team, but so is IU. No way, in my opinion, are the 2 loss Dawgs worthy of them sitting at the 8 spot or even the top 10. If I had to guess the reason IU isn't getting the respect from the committee is due to the conference being so down this year. PSU and Michigan have really pooped the bed. Had these two teams perform well during the season I'd have zero doubt IU would be top 10 easy maybe top 6. Regardless, all this will change next week. IU has a really tough game this weekend and I hope they continue with their winnings ways. Best of luck the them. Go Hoosiers! One other thing about the CFP Committee, UNC loses and moves up 2 spots!?

The Scotland beer isn't what I thought it would be. I ended up drinking German Hefe while I was there. LOL! Have fun! Both Glasgow and Edinburgh were awesome!

Currently on a Quaff On! Brewing Co. 6 Foot Strawberry Blonde kick. It reminds me a lot of the Long Beach, California's Belmont Brewing Company Strawberry Blonde. Other go to brews: Upland Two of Tarts Guinness Draught Paulaner Hefe Sam Adams Cherry Wheat Dogfish Head beers. SeaQuench American Beauty Namaste I'm sure I'm missing others. Both Quaff On! and Upland or 812 Bloomington brewed. So I tend to favor those brewers over others. But not married to them so to speak. I tend to change up based on season. I usually have a sixer of any one of these locked and loaded in the beverage fridge.

Holy poop is this a big game for the program or what? I was thinking, is this the biggest game in the program's history? I'm not sure if there is a bigger game. Maybe the Rose Bowl back in '68?
-
I was one of them, unfortunately. I completely got that wrong and so glad IU isn't in this mess. The other coach I was pimping was Billy D. But keep in mind I'm just some dude on the internet that thinks he knows everything. LOL!

Best of luck to the contagiously confident student-athletes and coaching staff this weekend! Go Hoosiers! #LEO
