  1. Not sure if this is 'selling' anything but his first HC gig he coached a player by the name of Keith Smart. They went on to finish 1st in their division and advanced to the CBA finals. His only losing seasons were while in the NBA; two seasons at Golden State and 1 season at Sacramento. Every other place he's coached, which is a lot, he's won. Final pitch, he's better than Archie?
  2. I'll never understand these types of questions. IU will have to play in 7 more and win 6 national championships, go undefeated 3 more times, win 9 more season conference championships, win 4 conference tournament titles, and so on to be 'just' UCLA? I get it. IU and UCLA haven't won a title in a long time. And both programs have a fan base that have high expectations. But that's shortsighted in the grand scheme of things. To put things into perspective here: Currently, there is only 6 total coaches in the entire history of the tournament (since 1939 [80 total championship games played]) that have won 3 or more national championships. Two on that list are still active. There is a grand total of 15 schools with multiple titles since the tournament began and 5 schools with 5 or more titles. (One school on the 5+ list has won all of its titles with the same coach.) One coach alone has won 12.5% of all tournament championships Bottom line, schools like IU and UCLA had the luxury of hall of fame coaches. It's not like they grow on trees. Some schools have been fortunate enough, or blessed, if that's your thing, to hire hall of fame coaches multiple times. IU being one of them. If I'm being completely honest, I think our current basketball fan base is a lot like the character Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This whole Brad Stevens embarrassment is a prime example of what I'm talking about. I bet there are people on this site that still think, hope, or believe Brad Stevens is going to be the next HC at IU. Even after he put the nail in the coffin, twice. It's embarrassing and pathetic to be frank. Sorry to get all up in here and be a Debbie Downer and highjack this thread. Might be because of what kind of day I'm having but whatever.

2021 NCAA March Madness - Indianapolis

To be fair with this B1G Iowa loss, the Ducks did get a bye into the round of 32. I'm not saying that was the difference but it certainly doesn't hurt to have fresher legs than your opponent going into a game.

What I've learned during this tournament. IUBB is really really bad because B1G is getting their backends handed to them.

That tells me a lot if that's indeed true. Kind of sucks to be honest because I'm a Pacers fan and I'd like to see both of them go. Thanks for sharing.

I don't have a dog in this fight but to be fair they have 17 championship (tied with the Lakers) and 31 division banners hanging and it started 64 years ago. That franchise has celebrated opening season banner hanging ceremonies in every decade (minus the current) since 1957. And to add a little 'extra' to their accomplishments, with the Lakers it accounts for 34 championships for almost half of the 74 championships in NBA history.

I don't care who they decide hire. Just make it happen.

    Archie. Miller. Fired.

I honestly don't care who gets hired. Just make it happen.

0-9. CAM is 0-9 against them. I don't feel bad for him one bit. He hasn't won a single game against them.

I'm trying to figure out when everyone was in agreement. When he was 0-4 or 0-9 against that one effin' school up north?

This team hasn't developed like I wish they would have. And the same exact issues consistently happen every season since CAM has taken over. I imagine we'll get at least one more year of CAM. After that, who knows.

    CFP Overhaul

This topic is to discuss any recommendations you would like to do to the current CFP system. I'll start. A 16 Team Playoff System Conference champion gets an automatic bid with the remaining spots being an at-large bid determined by the CFP rankings. All games played in the tournament will be the current bowl games established with the higher seeded team being allocated a bowl based on regional proximity to the school. First Round games will be non NY6 bowl games and start the second Saturday of December (a total of 4 weeks). All games after the first round will be NY6 bowl games. Here is what a 16 team playoff system would have looked like last year: 1 LSU (SEC Champ) v 16 Miami OH (MAC Champ) - R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, New Orleans, LA 8 Wisconsin (At-Large) v 9 Florida (At-Large) - Liberty Bowl, Memphis TN 4 OU (Big 12 Champ) v 13 Boise State (MWC Champ) - Frisco Bowl, Frisco TX 5 Georgia (At-Large) v 12 Memphis (American Champ) - Music City Bowl, Nashville TN 6 Oregon (PAC 12 Champ) v 11 Utah (At-Large) - Redbox Bowl, Santa Clara CA 3 Clemson (ACC Champ) v 14 App St. (Sun Belt Champ) - Belk Bowl, Charlotte NC 7 Baylor (At-Large) v 10 PSU (At-Large) - Armed Forces Bowl, Ft. Worth TX 2 OSU (B1G Champ) v 15 FAU (Conference USA Champ) - Quick Lane Bowl, Detroit MI Here is what the 2020 season looks like 1 Bama (SEC Champ) v 16 UAB (Conference USA Champ) 8 Cincy (American Champ) v 9 Georgia (At-Large) 4 ND (At-Large) v 13 Oregon (PAC-12 Champ) 5 TX A&M (At-Large) v 12 Coastal Carolina (Sun Belt Champ) 6 Oklahoma (Big 12 Champ) v 11 IU (At-Large) 3 OSU (B1G Champ) v 14 San Jose St. (MWC Champ) 7 Florida (At-Large) v 10 Iowa St (At-Large) 2 Clemson (ACC Champ) v 15 Ball St. (MAC Champ)
  16. I think the running game will be a big factor in this game. If our beloved Hoosiers are able to stop the run on D and run the ball on O I like their chances to bring home the hardware. I think IU's blitz package will confuse the crap out of Matt Corral and his front 5 just like they've done with every opponent they've faced. However, having said all that this game will probably be close. (I hope not!) That's just how the Hoosiers play football. It was rare to see blow outs by this squad. That's no knock on them. That's just how they play. They fight and have grit so they'll show up like they have all season long. I think Auburn runs a 4-2-5 like Indiana and Ole Miss was held to 28 pts that game. Obviously completely different athletes on the field etc. etc. to make the comparison but the scheme itself is something not 'traditional' when it comes to packages etc. etc.. Does anyone on here know of any other SEC school that runs 4-2-5? Best of luck to the Hoosiers!

    CFP Overhaul

I'd like to see all conference champs get automatic bids and schools like this year's IUFB be able to battle for a championship. In my opinion if you win your conference you've earned a right to battle in the big boy arena. Basically it allows the group of 5 to play at the table. And I think the only way that can happen is a 16 team playoff system. I mean Mack Brown is talking about breaking up the entire college football environment into two separate 'leagues' for championships!? A Group of 5 Championship and a Power 5 Championship. That's all just my opinion though and it means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

    CFP Overhaul

Just updated the final CFP rankings and conference champs. Our beloved Hoosiers would be battling against the Sooners the first round! Only two B1G schools represented in the round of 16. SEC has 4 representing, *ACC has 2, and the state of Indiana has the most schools qualified in the CFP 16 with 3 (Indiana, Notre Dame, and Ball St.). *ND is typically an Independent but due to COVID-19 they are affiliated with the ACC in 2020.

    2021 IUFB Thought

I wholeheartedly agree about the Nebraska fans. It's a cool setup they got going on there as well.
  20. Man, Dabo Swinney really thinks the Big Ten sucks. Well, I guess he'll be able to prove it come Jan. 1.
  21. I'm not sure IU would be ranked in the top 4 had they beat OSU and went undefeated. It's abundantly clear there is zero respect for them.

Give Coach Tom Allen a MONSTER extension.

Auburn football fans are excited about #IUFB, man. Let that sink in. #LEO

    IU Football Ranked!

Man, I never thought in a million years I'd see something like this. To top it off, it looks like the state of Indiana is actually a football state! LOL! Quick question here, what does that mean, strength of record?
