I'm not speaking for him but I read his comment being more directed at coaching these players more than anything.

So far 16 commits from the TP. I'm glad to see this is a focus. I hope this translates to a competitive football team on the field.

To repeat, the teams he played on were stacked. And they played the toughest competition in the state. And this is a great cliff notes of him. I think the best way to describe him is an Athletic Passer that played multi-sports in high school. He'd prefer to stay in the pocket but you can utilize his athleticism in various different ways to cause havoc. The CG coaching staff did the right thing by changing up their offense for him. Potentially a Desmond Ridder type of qb. He didn't have high volume of passes in high school so I can see the need to have him develop a little which that was probably the case at Tennessee. If he's coming to IU and becomes the starter, we might see some growing pains with him but the ceiling is to the moon. I'm actually a little bit giddy about these rumors and hope that OL coach gets that front 5 to improve because this could be something special.

If Jackson comes back to the state I'd be shocked if he's playing at IU.

I think that's the case for most of us IUFB faithful. Give me a solid front 5 and I'm tickled pink. That usually translates to winning half or more than half of your games on the schedule. Personally, I'd like a complete realignment of the entire conference to balance things up a bit. Once SC and UCLA get in we'll probably see that happen. Heck, it wouldn't surprise me if IUFB somehow gets the raw deal during the realignment. But who knows.

It's damn shame college football season is ending tonight folks. Cheering for TCU but know the chances of them winning is slim to none. Hope they pull off the upset, especially all the SEC folk crying Roll Tide robbery.

You're not wrong, Beavers' OL > IUFB OL. But I think it's fair to say those schools on that list aren't the same caliber to the big three in the East division. Tulane > USC, Ducks winner over a 9-5 UNC, and the big tell, Utah (15 sacks 109yds) allowed 6 sacks against PSU in the Rose. If Nolan ends up at IUFB that's great but after a neck injury he never returned to the field. Just call me a skeptic. Regardless, I'd be happy to have him join Hoosier Nation!

Anybody notice Colorado's transfers coming in? This is exactly how I'd be 'recruiting' my football team if I were a HC in the FCS. It will be interesting to see if this translates to wins. I'm betting it does.

The OL is for sure a major issue for the team and I'm not making excuses here but Oregon State didn't play OSU, Michigan and Penn State. I'd like to see how the Beavers OL handles those three teams. Because those three teams combined accounted for 17 sacks, almost half of the total amount. Competition level of IUFB compared to Oregon State's is far more superior if you're being honest with yourself. But yeah, I get it, the line was awful this year and I would be focusing on that as well if I were calling the shots. Let's hope Coach Bostad is able to get that bunch to develop and improve.

First bullet point: It is. Not so random thought. IUFB still doesn't have enough cash in their collective(s) and the IU athletic department needs to focus on this.
  11. Since we're watching players transfer out of IUFB this off season I thought I would bring up this website to provide a different point of view on how some of these players might be looking at choosing a school. on3.com is ahead of the game by providing a NIL Valuation regarding a recruit/transfer. The site has a NIL 100 list as well. Currently the IUFB 2023 recruiting class is ranked last in the conference with an Avg. NIL Value of $8.2k. This avg surprisingly isn't ranked last. ILL and Maryland are tied at $7.1k and Rutgers is sitting at $8k. Top 5 are OSU - $98k, PSU - $50k, MSU - $47k, Iowa - $27k and UM - $22k just in case any of you are wondering. I'm not trying to promote the site. But since NIL is a brand new variable in the recruiting game I don't see why these valuations will pop up on various other sites and this will become a tool to use for the player to use during his/her recruitment. This is now part of recruiting and isn't going away unless things change at the legislative level. I don't have an opinion on whether or not NIL should be allowed; I just know it's here and part of recruiting.

    IUFB & The NIL Variable

Announcement of NIL cash from two collectives and all of the sudden players in the portal are committing to IUFB. Huh, go figure. IU Athletics need to focus on collectives producing revenue, period. It's no longer amateur athletics.

He essentially joins the Big Ten. And the weather. Man does it do the dance. That wonderful weather.

Dasan leaving? Looks like he might be an EDGE.

    IUFB & The NIL Variable

Yeah man, it looks like the priorities are elsewhere for sure. But it doesn't have to be that way. It's actually possible to run a well oiled machine for the entire athletic department.

So, the HC at Michigan is taking full advantage of the transfer portal and building his team. Definitely a strategy I would be doing as well if I'm HC of a P5 school.

    IUFB & The NIL Variable

IUFB doesn't stand a chance until business strategies and priorities are set with the collective(s). This can actually work because Indiana University is an institution that has some business savvy alumni.

Makes sense, he's from Louisiana. IUFB was his only P5 offer.

Here's the thing though, Jones knows about on3 and his valuation. He's the one that currently has the leverage. Also, Cincy might actually be shelling out that kind of cash. They played in the CFP last year for crying out loud. IUFB, not so much. All of this is just so new and unknown. It's a bit frustrating if I'm being honest. But that's where we are now and this is part of the recruitment process.

    IUFB & The NIL Variable

I'm saying the collective dropped the ball. He was wanting 300k or whatever the value was. If Dasan plays at OU he's not guaranteed his jersey sales will show the same numbers in a smaller market football program like IUFB. Heck man, it's not a guarantee he even steps foot on the field next year. But it was almost a guarantee he was the future and face of the defense in Bloomington. Not so much in Norman. He can become all that by producing but he was already doing that at a Big Ten school in a division that currently has 2 of its schools playing for all the marbles. The collective(s) messed up on this, big time. To be fair, it's possible Dasan just wanted out. Which might be the case. But in opinion you at least have to make sure you meet his demands.

I was thinking the same. I just remind myself that this is a valuation and by no means a concrete value. This website might be way off. Or it might be spot on. All of this is uncharted waters so I have a feeling these types of websites might be trying to figure things out themselves.

Emory Jones' NIL valuation is $275k. I'd be surprised if he lands at IU.
  24. Lebowski

    IUFB & The NIL Variable

What I'm getting at here is the current collective associated with IU is dropping a lot of balls. Case in point, Dasan McCullough, a regional marketing dream (Like IU Bloomington) for companies like Adidas.
