IUFB 2022 Season Thread
Lebowski replied to Loaded Chicken Sandwich's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
After watching the Illinois game I think IUFB will be in a fight to get to 6 wins this season. They could be a 2 win team or a 6 to 7 win team. I'll be really surprised to see them win 6 though. Anything over 7 wins will be considered overachieving. -
Yeah this year is a safe bet to take 3 teams (Bama, Dawgs and O$U) against the field.

No disagreement from me. I was just pointing out that the 'south' bracket has been dominant in 5A over the years. And this year Decatur Central, a southern Indy school, has a really good chance to represent the south. Or maybe Whiteland? Who knows. Point being, I would be surprised to see any of the 812 schools you mentioned here playing Thanksgiving weekend but a 'south' school still has a decent chance to win the whole thing. Because I'm from the deep south of the state I generally think every school north of I-64 is a northern school! LOL! Heck man, I would lump the Columbus schools in the 'Indy area schools' as well. But I'm sure folk from that area would probably disagree with me. I mean at this point we're splitting hairs and decoupling the southern half the state but yeah, I hear what you're putting down. The 812 schools haven't been able to get past the Indy area schools, which isn't uncommon in all classes, if we're being honest with ourselves. I mean every now and then you get an 812 sprinkle here and there. But man, central Indiana overall is pretty loaded with some quality football on both sides of the bracket. Which can be frustrating if you're an 812 guy like myself. I am in the land of SIAC, that is correct. And make no mistake, I'm a Hoosier! We call ourselves Hoosiers down here. We don't agree with the fellow Hoosier brethren folk north of us that say, 'They might as well be Kentucky down there.' We're Hoosiers dang it!

There's some truth to that. However, the south is on a 5 win state title streak. And it wouldn't surprise in the least bit to see that streak continue this year.

I'm not one to hang my hat on this but playing Friday might also be a benefit for IUFB because it'll be a short week for ILL. -
IUFB 2022 Season Thread

It all comes down to the front five on offense and front seven on defense. That's it. No improvements from last season, same results. Improvements from last season, more wins. -
(2023) OL Tyler "Bubba" Jeffries to Indiana

He doesn't know but he's making a very safe bet. It's unfortunately likely to happen. And what's even more unfortunate is if, if it does indeed happen it will likely cost CTA his job or at least put him directly in the hot seat. It will probably cause a mass exit of transfers out the door, more decommits, etc. etc. All because he was too stubborn to let go of a failed OL coach from last season. I hope to eat a giant plate of crow after posting this.

Get two schools from the ACC and 2 from the Big 12. Don't care which ones but that will basically deal a major blow to the SEC. My picks would be FSU/Miami from the ACC and Baylor/Texas Tech from the Big 12.

I think this might be the direction it's heading. But who knows. I believe the pair they just picked up from the PAC 12 is probably best that conference had to offer. I mean Oregon and maybe Stanford could really add muscle but overall it makes way more sense to pick up UCLA/USC over any other PAC 12 school. Personally, I would pick up a pair from the Big 12 and a pair from the ACC. This would probably help with regional coverages across the nation. My picks would be either Duke/UNC or FSU/Miami from the ACC and Baylor/Kansas or Baylor/Texas Tech from the Big 12. These schools (minus Kansas) compete in football but most importantly completely destroy the SEC in basketball. I really like the idea of picking up FSU/Miami because that puts the Big Ten Conference right in SEC land. The SEC is probably scrambling today to try to pick up more schools as well. And I wouldn't be surprised if the schools on the list are schools you and I have mentioned here. So it's gonna be a race to pick them up. Because yesterday the B1G just shot a across the SEC bow.

My only complaint with this move is any IU road game in Los Angeles is gonna suck for Eastern and Central time zone folk like myself. But overall, this is a really good move for the conference.

Just spit ballin' here, but wondering if NIL and getting closer to home also played roles? -

You never know. If I had to guess Coach Bell is just trying to fill the depth chart, especially if the rumors are correct about McCulley moving to WR. -
If the front five plays like last year then only one game is winnable.
-
Translation: NIL isn't working out all that well for 'Bama and the head coach sees the writing on the wall that other schools in their own division have deeper booster pockets and are serious threats.
