If we actually do that, I'm ok with it. We're talking about IUFB here. Finishing .500 would be freaking awesome with this group and CTA would deserve credit for the accomplishment of that kind of winning streak. I'm skeptical about winning out though. We'll see how this all plays out. So far, I'm enjoying this game! -

It's Matt Millen. He's just collecting checks at this point. Lol. -
https://bigten.org/news/2023/6/8/big-ten-conference-announces-exciting-future-football-schedule-formats-for-2024-and-2025.aspx This is a good thing for IUFB.

I don't think I'm arguing per se. If I'm coming off that way, my apologies. My point I've been trying to push is that IUFB isn't a program that a lot of people on here think it is and Tom Allen actually isn't as bad as folks think he is, historically speaking in the grand scheme of things. I am absolutely NOT saying "we should just be satisfied" with any of this. I just know IUFB has always been where it is for 136 years and we fans should keep that in perspective when having these conversations. Trying to have this kind of understanding helps me look at the overall picture with the state of affairs. It helps me realize that over half the coaches we fans would like to lead IUFB probably isn't going to happen. It helps me stay grounded so to speak. It lets me understand that the next HC for IUFB will probably have the same type of struggle the 30 other HCs had prior to him. Coaches have a window/lifespan and CTA is no different. If progress isn't happening and jobs are not up to the expectations then he should go. As of right now, I'm leaning he should be let go. Which is too bad because that would mean we just fired the 10th most winningest coach in IUFB's history. A coach that showed so much potential and had it worked out and had a winning percentage, not going anywhere because he considers coaching IUFB his dream job. I will however change my mind if IUFB goes bowling. Because that shows, for me at least, he met expectations of his job and showed progress. Finishing .500, again, for me at least, is an accomplishment and I'm happy with that. Tiny steps for me with this program. Finding a coach that constantly does this and wants to stay at IUFB is a unicorn, but a man can dream that unicorns exist.

I feel your pain. LOL! Go Hoosiers!

Coaches win percentage and win-loss record after Bill Mallory .473 [69-77-3] Tom Allen .417 [33-46] Terry Hoeppner .391 [9-14] Bill Lynch .388 [19-30] Kevin Wilson .361 [26-46] Cam Cameron .327 [18-37] Gerry DiNardo .229 [9-14]

Schedule https://iuhoosiers.com/sports/football/schedule First game against conference foe OSU in the books. I'm thinking 4-6 wins after losing 23-3. This week vs Indiana State Friday, September 8th I'd be surprised if this isn't a blowout with the possibility of shutout.
-
You have literally just described the entire 136 year history of IUFB. Lol. Aside from the gauntlet first half of the schedule, letting go of Bell and making a hard decision on the starting QB might have been the change that started the upward swing. We'll so though, we're talking about IUFB here.
-
IUFB's 6 losses win-loss record of their opponents: 45-9 IUFB's 3 wins win-loss record of their opponents: 7-20 IUFB's remaining win-loss record of their opponents: 9-18 Should be interesting to see how this all plays out.
-
There's been six coaches after Mallory and Cam's win loss record is ranked 5th out of 6.
-
You obviously aren't reading their resumes and when they were coaching here. I honestly think if IUFB was currently ranked 1 and undefeated you would find something wrong with the coach. Lol.
-
Ok. If you say so. All of those coaches got plucked by historically better programs than IUFB. I'm sure they're doing something right. But keep on telling yourself they weren't any good while at some of IUFB's historically best years in its entire 136 year history.

He's got IUFB roots doesn't he?

https://www.si.com/college/alabama/bamacentral/alabama-football-sports-science-center-high-performance-david-ballou-dr-matt-rhea Mike Hart, Deland McCullough, Jason Jones, Kevin Peoples, and so on. They all moved on to bigger opportunities and paychecks. Because, well, you don't care, but they were all coaching at IUFB. (Allen paid for some of his coaches with his own money.) And the program is what it is. People forget just how loaded his staff was. It was the Hiller situation that ultimately got to where we currently are with IUFB.
-
I don't think ot was luck because I don't believe in that. IMO, He's had some home run hires other than DeBoer but I get it. You want someone that is more consistent. I want that too.
-
Those are stats. IUFB executed taking the ball away. It was a big reason they won 8 games one season and finished ranked in the top 20 another season. It is the entire mantra of a CTA defense.
-
They didn't execute better then IUFB yesterday.
-
I've got a bridge to sell you.
-
Same team.
-
So, kudos to Allen for recruiting and hiring? It's not like they just decided to come to IUFB for no reason, right? Do the two you mention here "owe" anything to IUFB and CTA? Like without IUFB, their chemistry takes a little longer to build and who knows what kind of record Washington has, correct? Look, I'm not saying CTA is the right guy for IUFB but man, we fans have to try and look at the entire CTA picture honestly. He deserves credit when credit is due.
-
Man, I couldn't have said it any better. This entire conversation is hypothetical and likely won't happen. But if it does, I'm happy for the program and will enjoy the success it achieved this season. And CTA was a reason for it.
-
Let's be real honest and compare his overall resume. He has had the most wins by any other IUFB coach over the past twenty years. He's beaten teams IUFB hasn't beaten in decades. And if he goes bowling this year, he deserves credit for achieving that rare experience for the program. He's already coached 23% of the program's bowl history, and if they go bowling this year, that would jump to 29%. The program is what it is.
