(2025) QB - Julian Lewis to Colorado (for now)
Lebowski replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Umm.... Source As of 2023, Alabama and Purdue are tied for first in producing the most number of Super Bowl winning quarterbacks.[1] As of September 2017, the top five universities in terms of the most NFL quarterback passing yards were 219,064 for Purdue, 183,296 for Notre Dame, 157,855 for USC, 152,627 for Stanford and 142,524 for Washington.[2] On November 18, 2012, The Wall Street Journal reported that, "Purdue may be the ultimate Quarterback U. Since the 1970 merger (between the AFL and NFL), quarterbacks from Purdue have started 724 NFL games, easily the most of any major-conference program." After Purdue QBs' 724 NFL games, the next best schools were the University of Washington (623 starts), Miami (573), University of Southern California (547) and Notre Dame (543).[3] -

Yeah there's going to be a good IUFB crowd there, myself included. I'm bringing, +11 to the game. Most UCLA games have a decent representation from the visiting team. I think this year especially because it's the first year in the conference. But it's kind of always been like that for them. -
Well, that was quick.

Maybe it's graded by sacks allowed or who was blocking who? It's possible they personally did a good job but man, it didn't look like they did a good job at pass protection as a unit, to me at least. -

https://x.com/IndianaFootball/status/1831034840072024144 I'm just going to say it. I don't understand how. To me, it appeared Rourke was pressured a lot. Maybe they were due to secondary coverage? Or Rourke not seeing the field good enough? -
In Old Town! That place is a must see if you're ever in Scotland.

Blowout win and yet it felt like the offense was really sloppy for about half of the game. They probably or should have scored a couple more times at least. The front five has to get better at pass protection. Rourke was pressured a lot and some how managed to only get sacked twice. Having said that, they got 400+ yards against an FBS opponent, they did that once last year, so they already matched that. It was their best 1qtr against an FBS opponent in almost 2 years. And they had more yards and first downs against any FBS opponent last year. Defense is solid, 4 sacks, 1 takeaway, and 8 tackles for loss. They were flying around to the ball. A nice athletic unit. They're good there. Guys not discussed during the off season stepped up as well. I'm concerned about our FG range. Looked like Coach Cig might not have confidence in 40+ yard attempts. Who knows. -

He's one of those guys I can see getting all kinds of action this season that will payoff for him come draft day. -

If Rourke stays healthy he's gonna be a problem for B1G defenses. Dude's got a some solid arm strength. -

One quarter finished up and I'm happier than a pig in poop! So much of a different football team out there compared to last year. -

Get used to this combo all year. -
Oh man, way more positive than I thought you were going to go. LOL! Disregard my comments above. My apologies. #NeverDaunted

^ #Daunted Did they all have the President of the University and Athletic Director's full backing? Not to mention NIL? Also, Coach Cig is extremely unique compared to these hires. He's turned programs like IU around. These guys didn't. All of these cats came from established programs half of them being the same program. My biggest concern with Coach Cig is him jumping ship due to success because that's his past record. My hope is the president and AD keep him happy at all times.

Keep in mind I can be eating a ton of crow on this when this is all said and done. And I'm basing that prediction on a healthy front 5. The coaching staff. That's their M.O. since they've been together. They've been able to get the QB position to produce. That production is a direct byproduct of WR production. I don't really have a thought of numbers from the QB position but I can see 2 from the WR core catching for 1k a piece. Or perhaps just 1 WR catching for 2k? I can also see Rourke and Jackson, both being capable to accomplish it, especially with the schedule and again, the coaching staff. So I was thinking the WR. The room is deep. The single season record for rec yards is 1265 set by Ernie Jones in 1987. We might see season or single game Rec TDs broken. We might see single game rec yards broken. But then again, since the room is deep the ball could get distributed evenly and my thoughts here are completely worthless. Who knows, man. I'm just extremely optimistic for this program now that we've got a coach with a resume.

My IUFB predictions for 2024 A winning season Offensive records will be broken Defense will have more than 30 sacks and at least 20 takeaways Ranked and in the CFP discussion at one point during the season Bowl eligibility earned by November Multiple NFL draft picks

No self imposed limitations. Looks like Coach Cig is changing the way people are thinking, including the press covering him on the daily. Osterman might be seeing things on the regular that he wasn't accustom to in the past? Honestly, I don't disagree with his picks. I can see some losses to other teams and some wins to teams he has beating IUFB. For example, I feel more optimistic against MSU than Washington. His caveat is Rourke staying healthy. He did a really good job explaining why he picked the way he did. 13 winning season in 13 years, the history this coaching staff has with QBs and is throwing his chips all in on those precedents. He only brought up Coach Haines once and concentrated mostly on the offense. Personally, I think IUFB will win more close games this year because of the defense. Buckle up folks, let's hope he's not too far off!!!!

FIU's presser. Coach MacIntyre had good things to say about Coach Cig. QB Keyone Jenkins is just a sophomore and played last year. I'm assuming he'll be a lot better. 4 wins last year and looked to struggle the last 4 games. -

Well, it's game week. Finally here.

Man, I'm trying to imagine how Boulder would handle that.
-
I'm not a big fan of him but he does produce results. His entire football resume from player to coach is just filled with results. He's 31-14 as a coach right now. Who knows how many wins Colorado gets this year but I think it's fair to say the coach will do everything he can to produce results. They made some changes up front that needed to happen along with bringing in some coaches that might change some things for them. Again, not a big fan of him.

A pretty heavy dose of Jaylin Lucas on FSU's 1st drive in Dublin. Would have been really cool to see how it would have worked under Coach Cig had he stayed.
