  1. Late to this party, but my thoughts are even though the traditional system was flawed it was: A) successful B) not compulsory. So the position that college (or Olympic) athletes "were taken advantage of" is exteremly hard for me to accept. Sincere question: Can there be willing amatuers in anything? Aren't blood donors getting screwed? My kids sold candy as a fund-raiser and got squat, are they owed a piece of the action? Everyone is gonna put the line somewhere and some of you think that since college sports are popular and make money, that it must be shared with the players. Ok, I'm 100% pro free market too......but we already have professional sports. If players don't want to "donate" their time & talents to a college they can go play for the NBA, NFL, MLB, in Europe, etc. Colleges don't owe them the right play. So, I reject the argument that amatuer sports can't exist because someone, somewhere is making money. Also, there are tons of ethical issues, like why are state run education institutions sponsoring professional entertainment? Practially, none of that matters since the cat is out of the bag and not likely it's going back. I played college football and it was a sacrifice, but I still love college sports and am sad they are disappearing.
  2. There is somethign to that, but the timing couldn't be a lot worse for them. Everyone else either moved or extended. Not a lot of high quality candidates. They might be best to roll with Biff for a season and conduct a full search next year.
  3. I read that someplace early this week too, but don't recall where. I could get on board with that! Not so sure about Leavitt though.
  4. But it feels accurate. The schedule gets MUCH harder than against a short-handed, bad Minnesota team. Losing that game was inexecusable. Shameful really.
  5. I imagine that is typical, must say though I also have an OSU friend and he actually picked IU by a FG and then sent a gracious "congratualtions', which I am sure killed him!
  6. No one would have believed it. NO ONE. I just watched it happen and I'm not sure I believe. I bet if you asked to make that bet 2 yrs ago (about IU being undefeated B1G champs and #1 CFP seed) the oddsmakers woulda laughed about stealing your money.
  7. Probably, because that is where we are now. I know drama is compelling to some, but this whole episode is just the worst. Obviously for Ole Miss, but all of college football really. This will no doubt become the new normal.
  8. The mom will have an Only Fans account by Christmas.... assuming she doesn't already.
  9. The ****** is strong with that one. LSU & Kiffin deserve each other and I hope it fails spectacularly. If he was going to the NFL? MAYBE. But he's going to rival a few hours away that Ole Miss plays annually. No way you reward that.
  10. The announcers made a big deal about him making bad throws, which was true. But the real issue was making the wrong reads in the first place on those plays. More than once someone else was open and he tried to force it. Why? No idea.
  11. With the 3pt shooting he didn't have it would have equalled a 40pt loss.
  12. Everyone is blaming Kiffin, probably rightfully so. What a circus. I hate what college football has become. Guy has built that program and has a legit shot a NC.....but that is all over-shadowed by "will he choose LSU or Florida?!?" Disgusting.
  13. True. I've been (justifiably) critical of him. He's slow, weak with the ball, unathletic and makes some bad decisions.....despite that he produced tonight, so "production over potential!"
  14. Interesting 6 min video break-down of Alabama's offense: Video
  15. I certainly hope you are right, but not sure what you have seen to date that gives you any confidence. He's supposed to be a skilled big man but has looked awkward, weak and clunky around the rim. Hasn't hit many perimeter shots and has been absolutely abused on defense/rebounding. It's early and he wasn't the only one that no-showed the last couple of games, but the clock is ticking. My hope is Harris gets healthy and can take Bailey's minutes and not be such an embarrassment.
  16. Bailey is so soft. If he's not bringing mismatches on offense he doesn't bring much else. Disappointed in Wilkerson too. Fumbling the ball and forcing shots. Other than Alexis and Devries 2nd half they just sleep - walked through 2 games they shoulda won by 40+. Amazing what a difference between the exhibitions and first 3 games and the last 2.
  17. BYU has a familiar theme for their football team:
  18. I just started watching KU-Duke the last few mins of the half. I understand that KU is in some foul trouble....but they are not running any discernable offense at all. They passed the ball around on the perimeter a few times then hoisted up a three. Not once, but several possessions. The only exception was when one guy drove to the basket. That was it.
  19. I think they already do! As for Kiffin & Ole Miss, it would be a pretty bold move to fire a coach for not signing an extension during the season. They can try to spin that as 'for cause' but not a great look for Ole Miss or Kiffin.
  20. Mucho fugly. A lot that could be said, but not worth it. Hope this is the poorest they play.
  21. I didn't watch, how does Harlason look for ND?
  22. Not sure how anyone that has actually watched Texas can believe they are even a top 20 team, let alone top 12. If they have as much talent as advertised then Sarkasian should be sued for mal-practice. I expect A&M will thump them and Texas will end up in the Poulon weed-eater bowl, where they belong.
  23. Stu (I think?) mentioned in another thread that Harris is not expected back until December. I think it's an ankle- he was on crutches tonight.
  24. I was thinking about that when they mention "10 transfers, 0 returning points"......is there anyone from last year we'd even WANT back? Some talent for sure, but I don't think anyone translates to this style, do they?
