(2018) SF Musa Jallow to Ohio State
Hardwood83 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Lots of talent there. My concerns are it is such a focused group that with a few misses it could get dicey fast. Second, I see one PF and 0 Centers among a bunch of guards and wings. Ugh, I hate small ball. I don't expect a Twin Towers approach, but would really prefer to have 2 legit post players on the roster. -
Very odd timing. What fundamentally changed in the last 2-3mos? I don't doubt Smith knows what he's doing- but seems peculiar. Unfortunately, I expect O$U to get someone solid if not very good. I saw Tony Bennet mentioned someplace too. I hope not.

(2017) PG Tremont Waters to LSU
Hardwood83 replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
"Almost a Human being" Fixed it for you. Sorry to hear about Tremont. Seems like a nice kid, but it's hard to imagine LSU working out for him. -
ACC/B1G: Ga Tech or Wake would be the best fit as far as results/expectations, imo. Seems IU often gets a tougher draw due to fan interest & name recognition though. Turns out no one really cares about N-Western or Minnesota- who knew!?

(2017) SF Brian Bowen to Louisville
Hardwood83 replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Deny/obstruct/spin = little to no punishment. Confess/report/cooperate = DROP THE HAMMER Doesn't exactly foster a "culture of compliance" does it? I'm not surprised that Slick Rick, Ol' Roy and the D-bags in the UL & UNC Athletic Depts are soulless scum, but it is a little disappointing that no one in in the Administration of these august bodies of higher learning have any integrity at all. -
2017 May AAU Activity
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Is it safe to assume anyone named "Moses" is a center? Everyone I can think of has always been a big man. -
I like your optimism. If IU finishes 12th in the B1G (unless there are major contributing factors- like a meteor strike) Miller should be on the hot-seat. No, I'm not kidding. I don't expect top 3, but he has more then enough to avoid the bottom 3.

(2018) SF Nahziah Carter to Washington
Hardwood83 replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I think using (or banking) the scholarship for a Center would be even better yet. -
Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers
Hardwood83 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I was thinking the same thing. Appears they ran out of names that end in "field" or "ville" so they pulled out an atlas and went to it: Mexico, Peru and Denver.....not a lot of imagination in 19th Century North Central Indiana I guess. -
Who's declaring/transferring around NCAA 2017?
Hardwood83 replied to reconmkd's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
He's a terrific ambassador for Purdue. Right up there with Neil Armstrong in the Pantheon of all-time Boilermakers! -

Good point. I withdraw my request and apologize. -
Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers
Hardwood83 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Absolutely. I'll take one experienced 6'9" 240lb, solid defender and decent rebounder that can play 10-12 mins a game for one season, please. Also- good attitude/teammate too. -

Agreed, McSwain & Priller are only using a scholarship for this upcoming season and actually might be needed due to the thin front-court depth. -
(2017) C Mohamed Bamba to Texas
Hardwood83 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Yep. Also glad he didn't go to Duke, sick of their crap too. If last season is any indication, Smart is building a talent burning factory in Austin. Bamba won't be heard from again until next year's draft. -

Hardwood83 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
You might be right- but I hope not. That is a really short (as in "not tall") rotation and I don't prefer 3 guard line-ups. I'd like to see Newkirk (or Green), Johnson, Hartman, Morgan and Davis starting. God forbid Davis gets banged-up or has persistent foul trouble. He certainly will get tired at some point. Sucks there is no back-up center, I know Moore is tall, but looks really thin and is perimeter oriented. I do expect McSwain to play some though. He can compete physically, seems willing and there aren't a lot of other options. -

Only when they are the wrong opinions....which happens a lot come to think of it! :) -

I don't know, if they were FREE? I could always use them to mow the yard. -
Random IUBB Recruiting

I don't think Romeo is a must get, but it would be a nice announcement that there's a new sheriff in town. -
Hard to disagree with him. We all expect Davis to flourish and other guys to improve, but the truth is IU is losing it's 3 best players and no immediate impact guys coming in. Still the results weren't great so my hope is that, while less talented and high-scoring, next season IU is still a much better team.

Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers
Hardwood83 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I have to agree. Would love to see TB succeed professionally, but he's not athletic, not a good defender, not particularly tall and needs to develop a lot more skills to be a post presence. He'll get paid to play someplace next year, but I will be surprised if it's in the NBA. I think he should return to college, but shockingly, he hasn't asked for my input. -

What is this about? I know players hang out and whatever- but a conference opponent "working out" there and wearing IU stuff? I don't know about that. I sure wouldn't want IU players in Columbus wearing OSU crap, that would piss me off. -

This makes so much sense. I'm all for the free market too, if they don't want to (often) pretend to be a student for a few years there is no limitation on these kids playing pro ball- just not in the NBA. Show what you can do in Israel or Croatia while getting paid. Current set-up is detrimental to both NCAA & NBA and often the players, IMO. -

2018 Recruiting Class
Hardwood83 replied to HoosierAloha's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I'd love to see IU add a good big man for 2018. I don't expect Hakeem Olajuwon, but at least above average. I'm not a fan of small ball. Doesn't appear there are many in-state Post prospects for 2018. -

Not unless he can develop a Sam Perkins-esque game. Someone not athletic but hits open shots at a high rate. Otherwise TB better work on Post O & D if he wants a sniff of big-boy ball.
