(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
Hardwood83 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I wondered the same thing. More defections are certainly possible, especially with a disappointing record, but as of now we're only looking at 11 scholarship players for next year already. There isn't anyone I'd like to see go. -
I'd even settle for consistently decent. The huge swings from "wow, that was really good" to "that was THE stupidest play I've ever witnessed" are just brutal. Everyone has an off game, but Josh and Rojo just seem extraordinarily inconsistent, especially for the experience they have. It's not even a roller-coaster, more like a teeter-totter! either up or down, with no in between. Unfortunately, Green seems cut from the same mold. Really talented, but scary too. A grad transfer seems like it would be a great fit -along with Romeo, of course.

I agree with the consensus, he might leave early, but it ain't gonna be to the NBA. I like DD, but I can't see it.

Post Game Discussion : Duke 91 Indiana 81
Hardwood83 replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree. I don't think it's fair to rip the kid as a bust in November of his Freshmen year because he isn't ready to contribute against the #1 team in the country. We'd all love to have guys like Bagley, but there are only a handful of them a year and, according the FBI, they have a steep price-tag. -

I don't feel too bad about this loss. I would have loved to beat the arrogant pricks and their weasel coach, but they are just better than IU. A lot better talent. Missing 10 FT's and 24% 3-pt shooting will lose a lot of games against good teams and Duke is very good and deserves the #1 ranking. The fact IU played them tough and had a real shot to win late is encouraging. -

I don't take it as bashing, but this is the type of game Crean often won, but then would turn around and look bad losing to Iowa at home. The inconsistency was maddening, but to be fair, the guy had his team show up for big games.....usually. -

This is how I feel too. I really want to see IU have a big, deep, athletic front line. Sure, "positionless" is all the rage and 'Nova won with four guards, blah, blah, blah. I still think Bigger is better and, as we saw last night, size does matter. Bring in the big boys Archie! -

SH 81 - IU 68 Gonna be in NYC for work this week, so I bought tickets for this game about an hour before tip-off yesterday....THAT was a buzz-kill. -

I have to agree. Archie wasn't my first, second or third choice for HC, so I'm predisposed to be critical.....and I got nothing. He's pressed all the right buttons to this point. Of course, what really matters begins next Friday. -

I agree with this. From what we've seen of the upper classmen, who strikes you as a leader? Newkirk, Johnson, Colin, McSwain, Priller, Morgan? They all seem like great guys...but not THE guy. I can see Hartman taking the role a little, but Green has "it" much more so then anyone else. -

Boooo on your cold logic and realism. We want wild-eyed enthusiasm and unbridled optimism! -

That is surprising considering he's a top 10 player. On the other hand, they have learned patience. Sometimes the financing takes some time to come through and probably another couple hoops to jump through after last months arrests. -

I have a hard time seeing JM going pro. Graduating and transferring, who knows? I also agree that Davis isn't a realistic threat to leave early either. I would guess the scholarship comes from a current guard moving on. -
That script "Indiana" look is super cool. I prefer to keep the names off the back and keep a more traditional look in general, but have no problem with alternate jerseys. For instance, we've sucked so badly in the B1G conference tourney, it can't hurt to change it up, right? As some others have said there are plenty of examples of iconic looks that stand the test of time. Tweaks are fine, but wholesale changes or going super trendy are unnecessary. Please, nothing like Baylor (neon), Oregon (seizure inducing) or Maryland Football (looks like a 60's acid trip).....I wouldn't stop watching, but it would really suck.

I didn't see it either, but similar thought. It's very early, plus, if we are much more defensive minded they might not be the prettiest games. From what little I've seen of Dayton games over the last few years winning ugly may expected. -
That article renews a little of your faith in college basketball. No mercenary players? Stars that want a degree? Winning consistently? And a coach that is an impeccable dresser? Wow, checking all the boxes there.

I disagree, it's not "ignoring" the free market, it IS the free market. Most, if not virtually all professions have requirements to enter them. Using age/experience is a valid one and certainly not arbitrary. If some outside organization (govt) regulates, that is anti-market. Allowing the business (NBA) to set their own rules is the way to go. Besides no one is saying these kids can't go pro in some other country if they want.

It can't be bad news that's he's there again, right? -

So I clicked that link above. There is a picture & caption with the story.... Am I understanding this correctly? Lamont Evans appeared as a defendant in Federal Court wearing a Nike running suit? I have no first hand experience in these matters, but I'm going out on a limb and calling that a mistake for a host of reasons. Does he have legal representation? Did they not mention wearing plastic clothing might not send the right message?
-
Is this a poorly worded headline that should actually reference breaking Federal law? Otherwise, why would a NY Grand Jury concern itself- or have jurisdiction- over NCAA violations?
-
Sign me up! Call me kooky, but I'd take consistently solid- over huge swings from great to abysmal any day. The inconsistency from possession to possession, let alone game to game and season to season wore me out.
-
I agree many are selling IU short, but #3 is probably too high. The talent, experience and coaching (I hope) point to a solid team that competes against everyone and wins it's share. I think 21-9/20-10 seems about right with a top half finish in conference. While IU doesn't have a lot of dynamic players- neither does most of the rest of a mediocre B1G. If the Hoosiers just quit doing some of the incredibly dumb stuff we've been subjected to over the last several years (unforced TO's, inexplicable defense, etc) and simply play hard and smart, they'll be fine.

I wonder how many parties could/should sue UNC for this mess. Can't tell me wholesale academic fraud doesn't impact a whole lot of people negatively. In today's litigious environment, I'm kinda shocked some ambulance chaser hasn't put together a class action. Come on- there has to be a big pot of money sitting in Chapel Hill.

I agree with "Kevin" responding to DV's tweet above. My list of who I want get what's coming to them: # 1through 257 Kensucky 258- UNC 259- Dookie 260- Kansas 261-Syracuse Anyone else is gravy. Let em burn!
