    Corruption in College Basketball

No doubt the "system" needs to change. If the NBA adopted a MLB draft policy it would help a LOT, IMO. I would go a step farther and say paying the college players isn't going to solve the problem, either. Kentucky, Carolina and Duke aren't cheating to help poor, disadvantaged inner-city youth. They cheat to win games and all that goes with that (prestige and mostly, money.) Creating some elaborate pay scale that gives players $3k or $5k or $15k a year won't change that. This issue isn't any different then any other cheating scenario. Why don't you or I cheat on our taxes, our wives or at a board game? A) It's morally reprehensible to us (clearly NOT the case with many/most top NCAA programs) or B) the risk of getting caught/punished is too great and not worth it. IMO, that is what needs to change. Go scorched earth so the risk of getting caught out-weighs the reward. It won't be simple, with agents and AAU etc involved. But it CAN be greatly improved if there is the will to do it.

    Late Season Optimism

I agree. True "projects" should be rare, but that isn't the same as a kid that needs a couple years to develop. I expected a little more out of Moore this season too, especially once DD went down, but big men often need some time to get it together. How likely is it IU will fill his scholarship with someone that will contribute more? Almost certainly not for next year- and after that is a total crap-shoot. I hope he sticks around, really works hard and tears it up in the future.

    Corruption in College Basketball

I understand, you have evidence to back your opinion too However, is it possible you thought/said that same things about Pitino & Louisville until recently? I'm not totally convinced the NCAA has seen the light and we're in a whole new paradigm.....but they did just deny an appeal and vacate a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP from a HoF coach. I guess my point is the NCAA isn't running this show right now, the FBI is and Sean Miller, Izzo, Cal, K, Roy, Self and all the rest of those cheating bastards are crapping their pants. Will our dreams come true with a fairy tale ending (for me that is Calipari in an orange jumpsuit)? Probably not, but this is too big to just get swept away as business as usual.

    MSU....Heat on Izzo?

There might be a lot of that going around.

I'm not seeing it for Wisconsin. Happ is really good, and it's reasonable to assume their young guys will improve some- but they just aren't that talented and the off-season isn't fixing that. Take away Happ and they are the worst team in the B1G by a wide margin, IMO.

    MSU....Heat on Izzo?

That would be my guess right now. Bet that Cavs offer from a few yrs back looks a lot better right now. I get that Izzo is a big deal, but again, this is TWO major issues at the same time and both have legal ramifications. I'm not getting too excited yet, but like the direction this is going.

    Corruption in College Basketball

In basketball? I doubt it, but MAYBE. How about we take a peek behind the curtain at those scholar athletes in the football program over there in Columbus though? And everyone knows there is SMU level cheating going on at 'Bama. The whole freaking SEC is a cesspool.

    Corruption in College Basketball

As others have said, if IU was cheating/benefiting from cheating over the last few years it's pathetic. I mean what are we the Dollar General of corruption? How much did McRoberts get under the table? What is the going rate for a +100 ranked player like OG? What kind of car is Al Durham driving? Sheesh, if you cheat and JBJ and Thomas Bryant are the best you can do.....I don't even know what to say. I want the hammer to fall. Kentucky, UNC and Duke are on my most wanted list. Syracuse and Kansas are close behind. D-bags make me sick.
  9. Sorry I meant "CT" to mean Central Time. I wouldn't live in Connecticut for any amount of $$!
  10. I already live in CT so makes no diff to me, but I used to be proud Indiana was one of the few states not to participate in the DST idiocy. Let's change the clock because......just because!

I really thought Green had turned the corner....turns out he did, but it was going back the wrong direction.

Because Green was even worse, if you can believe it.

Obviously true, this roster is flawed but IU has more then enough talent to win this game. Instead they threw it away, just piddled it down their leg, Nebraska didn't have to win it. You don't need Talent to not throw the ball away 782 times. I can NOT freaking understand why completing passes is so complicated for Div 1 athletes. I don't mean under pressure, just simple A to B passes.......pisses me off. I guess you are right though, this team won't figure it out since at least 5 of these guys are gone after a few more games.

IU is a dumb team. I don't take pleasure in saying that and I don't want to disparage what I think are generally good kids that try hard, but they are just not intelligent. There can be no other explanation for the utterly idiotic decisions that are made repeatedly. Some are more guilty than others, but the team IQ must avg approximately 73. Absolutely brutal.
  15. I doubt all these tortured explanations about how the Langfords "know" this or Darius Garland is "manipulating" that have any connection to reality. We don't know so we fill in the blanks with fanciful details. Clearly some of us have lost perspective and gone off on conspiracy tirades that make the Garlands and Langfords some kind of Super villains bent on crushing our hopes and dreams. On the other hand, going to Vandy could only be a "business decision" in the most literal sense, IMO. Could Drew & Vandy be clean and have just caught lightening in a bottle with the super-class of a lifetime, purely by hard-work and good fortune? Sure. I doubt it though, but nothing I can do about it either way. I want Romeo to go to IU because I think that what is best for IU, for me and probably him too. If he chooses IU it will be great. If he doesn't then I won't "wish him well", frankly I hope he turns out to be a bust and disappears from view. I admit that is a little mean-spirited and immature, but I don't care. There is nothing particularly rational about my emotional investment in college kids I don't know playing a game, is there?
  16. Or Lexington or East Lansing or Syracuse, NY...... geographic location is way down the list.
  17. Where have these jerseys been!! About freaking time. I love them sooooo much more than the horrible polyester looking pull-over's that look like they are sponsored by the local Dairy Queen. Burn those and wear this style from now on, please.

Game Thread: Indiana at Iowa 2 PM ESPN

Agree. Who in the B1G is more talented than Iowa? Mich St for sure and.........I'm not sure anyone else is. They've got a lot of very solid players but zero chemistry. Something wrong there- and sadly I think we all qualify as experts at recognizing talented teams that under-perform, right?
  19. Holy crap. I coach my son's 3rd grade Upward team and that is almost verbatim what I say between periods! I admit to thinking the "Drew can't coach" routine was petty getting old, but if I just heard that audio without any context I would assume he was a retarded guy pretending to be a coach. It is pathetic.

    MSU....Heat on Izzo?

A year or two ago, I would absolutely agree. In the current environment I'm not so sure. The AD and school President have just resigned- so there is blood in the water and the sharks are circling. Izzo may not be captain of his own destiny on this one.
  21. I'll be disappointed if Romeo goes elsewhere since he's obviously a great Indiana player. It will really sting if it's Vanderbilt, though. I wouldn't love him going to Kensucky, Duke, Kansas, etc. But at least those make sense. Vanderbilt? That is like dividing by zero, does not compute. Someone said earlier that he's a more important recruit than Cody. I'd argue that won't be known for a couple yrs. If he comes to IU and flourishes, leads to a great season and makes the Hoosiers fashionable again.....then sure. But if he is just a typical one and done with some highlights, but not great team success? I'd say no. Cody was part of a resurgence, B1G champ and #1 seeded team. Tangible results. The fact Crean pissed away that momentum wasn't his fault. Long story short- I want Romeo because he's really good and should speed up IU's return to prominence. I don't think his making the wrong choice and going elsewhere derails that progress, just slows it a little. IU > Romeo, IMO.

They should drop- that was awful. Wisconsin sucks and PU made them look good. Ethan Happ and a bunch of schmucks dominated PeeEww for the last 5mins of the game. Freaking Purdue can't do anything right, why couldn't they have laid an egg against IU? Oh and O$U is creeping back on Penn St. 58-42 now.

I hope Lynch gets what's coming to him. What a swing for Little Ricky and the Gophs, huh? From zero to hero and back, in as many years. Gotta think he's going to bolt or be on a very short leash. Granted Minnesota has a long history of malfeasance, but generally you can only survive off court issues if you win. Lose AND have an out of control program? Not great.

Game Thread : Illinois @ Indiana | 8:30EST on BTN

I just came here to say "I hate Illinois", not just in basketball, but in everything. I usually pull for B1G schools in general in the non-con and bowl games, NCAA tourney, etc. Not Illinois. I hope they lose every game, in everything-forever. I hope their dogs mess on their carpet and that the entire University system gets an itchy, scaly rash that won't go away. I hope Lou Henson, wherever he is, spills prune-juice on his new carpet. I hope Nick Anderson cracks a molar and can't get in to see a dentist for 3 days. I hope Lovie Smith accidently puts diesel in his school provided car and ruins the engine. To be clear, I don't really "like" any other B1G schools, but Illinois is just the worst. I detest them, like cockroaches. You can't blame them that they are disease spreading vermin, but you can squash them with contempt. Ahhhh, that feels better, thank you for letting me rant.
  25. The same pitch as any other program: "YOU are the missing piece to put us over the top!" Not much different then what he's hearing from IU or KU, really. Only difference is what that means relative to each team: Vandy= +.500 record, IU= Compete for B1G title and deep tourney run, KU= Natl Championship. Everyone is telling him they will feature him, develop him and he'll be a legend even after he leaves. We know that is only true for ONE of the three, though don't we?
