  1. 14?!? Sheesh, Who feels old? <<<<< this guy. I will be very excited too (with Romeo, Taylor and Morgan all in the fold), but as others have mentioned, still quite concerned about post play both offensively and defensively. Juwan is not a Center, IMO.
  2. This is what I think too- Holtman did a great job with some talented, experienced players he inherited.....how will HIS team look in 2-3 yrs? Even next year without KBD, Tate and Williams may be a huge drop-off.

We're all thinking the same thing- but SU are very beatable, just move the ball and hit the shots they give you....which is apparently easier said then done! It's a gimmick, but a successful one.
  4. Like you said, we'll just have to disagree. I would like IU to have two legitimate Centers on the roster every year. There is never a time you'll say "man, I wish we didn't have such competent post play" Never. Not saying that the offense has to revolve around the post or that guard play isn't vital (we learned that painful lesson this year) just that Offense, Defense and rebounding all benefit from genuine big men. Sure a 6'7" guy (Thompson, Morgan, Hartman, etc) CAN play down low, but it's not a recipe for winning at a high-level, IMO.

Wow, Lurch has some heart! Gotta wonder how effective he'll be with one arm though.

Had a legitimately great year....and no one will care or remember. All about the tourney.
  7. I don't entirely disagree, but I would also say Morgan is a much better 4 than 5. So IU benefits by him NOT having to defend the other teams post.

Ruins everyone's bracket. No one had UVa going out before the Sweet 16. UMBC is still playing loose......I'm starting to believe.

As discussed neither does Sean Miller.....it's not the packline D, right? RIGHT!?!

kinda feels that way, but a lot of time, and UVa isn't panicking....yet.

ughh, no kidding. They don't look flat, they look bad. I know they are missing a key player, but they are looking like they might make history tonight and not in a good way.
  12. What do you expect him to say "we'll be mediocre mostly, punctuated by really bad defense!"
  13. No, losing 5 to graduation (Newkirk, Johnson, Hartman, Priller, McSwain) plus Jones open spot= 6. We have signed 4, so still have a couple, pending any additional defections.
  14. I wish him well. I think he's a good guy and tried his best, but it wasn't good enough and he deservedly got fired. I have a hard time seeing him succeed consistently at Georgia....or anyplace, but fully expect some big upsets and a good season occasionally.

Absolutely. He's a regular season stud, has made 8 straight Tourneys and has won the conference 5 times in 8 seasons. But 3 elite 8's with all that talent? Also, 3 first round flame outs....not a good look. I agree, that "doing better" is a valid question, but now seems like an opportune time to make a change.

Very strong IU flavor to potential coaches for Evansville- according to this: https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/college/evansville/2018/03/14/looking-potential-evansville-basketball-coaching-candidates/423100002/
  17. This is interesting. Obviously, could still bring Taylor in along with Romeo (hopefully) but sounds like a very, very solid consolation prize if Romeo goes herp derp on us.

I think so too. But they might see Steph Curry 2.0.
  19. .....or there might not be anything to hear?

I hope he gets a good job and succeeds....but not sure UGa or Pitt qualify in either case. SEC seems to be getting deeper ($$) and of course the ACC is murder. Tough to see him doing much either place. I guess the benefit of Pitt is there is literally no where to go but up.

I think that pretty much sums it up. He just does enough to make you think he's ready to get over the hump.....then nothing. Seems like he's had more talent overall then Crean too. I love Stevie as an all-time Hoosier, but don't want him anywhere near the program as a coach.

    Where did you see this?
  23. We have gotten off in the weeds here. I'll pipe in since I live in Nebraska- I appreciate your condolences :) Chicago is much better to visit for a weekend, but Nebraska is a better place to live. They have the same crappy weather, but Chicago has horrific traffic, high taxes and all the other drawbacks of "big city" living. Plus Chiraq is a thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Chicago But hey, maybe you like those things. I won't judge. I love me some Cubbies and deep dish pizza though. Now back to your regularly scheduled Romeo Programming.

I agree with all of this. UNC will eventually be ok because they have tradition, location, lots of $$, no scruples and demand a winner (kinda like O$U or Bama in football.) But I think it's gonna be much harder at Duke, Syracuse, Louisville, etc. UCLA has mostly scruffled along the last 40yrs too. One NC and a few Final Fours, but nothing approaching their glory days. Hopefully the whole paradigm in NCAA hoops changes with this FBI investigation (not holding my breath) but even without that, in 5yrs Ol' Roy, Boeheim, K, Izzo and a few more will be gone. It's a good time for IU to return to being a perennial top 10 program and the face of the B1G.
  25. Fixed that for you. Is TJD really 6'9" doesn't look much bigger than Romeo to me.
