2018 Recruiting Class
Hardwood83 replied to HoosierAloha's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I hope so, I detest the "Prep" school system. Same crap as AAU. -

Self-aware, they are not. -

Eff em sideways. Forgive me for not taking any umbrage from that filthy program. Like North Korea and Sudan ripping the US on human rights....except more egregious. -
Kinda sad I had completely forgotten about him. Even when IU played Seton Hall he was completely under the radar.

I had to watch it on the Tennesseean.com website since nothing else would load for me. This is outstanding and I'm thrilled, but I'm not satisfied- give me MORE!!! -

That is helpful thanks. IU has several options for back-up Centers....not sure who the starter will be. -
NCAA Commission on College Basketball Report
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
What does he care? K has already made his millions. He'll coach another few yrs and ride off into the sunset a multi-millionaire keeping his ill-gotten gains regardless of what happens to NCAA basketball. I'm sure he didn't learn his ethics from Westpoint or RMK. Yes, I am asserting that he is most definitely personally guilty of cheating. There is absolutely no chance he gets the recruits he has over the last several years without playing the same game as the rest if these vermin. None. Impossible. -
NCAA Commission on College Basketball Report
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I have seen this mentioned a few times. I'm not necessarily against it, but am curious how it will be any better than the NCAA? Won't it just be a case of SSDD? I mean if Kentucky, UNC, Louisville, Nike, AAU, etc are all corrupt and willing to screw their peers now by cheating.....how does blowing up the NCAA and replacing it with something else fix that? -

I agree. I sometimes get a little aggravated Alex isn't enough of a homer for IU. Very professional. Seems to be very, very rare nowadays. -

I disagree completely. These guys are cheating to gain advantage, not to "help out" the players families. A couple thousand $$ stipend wouldn't change anything except for the marginal guys. The 5 stars would still command (and receive) a premium. -
Yep and I think that lowers the ceiling on the team- Romeo or not. Hard for me to imagine a B1G champ with a post rotation of Moore, Jake & Race. Sure Juwan can play center, but again, IMO that isn't ideal. Maybe I'm being too negative, but am still hoping for a solid Grad Transfer Big.

(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
Hardwood83 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Me too. Nothing against Brooks at all, but if their can be only one I want it to be Connor Mcleod....I mean Trendon Watford. -
#IUBASE - 3 game series @ Ohio State
Hardwood83 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
Yeah for Greenfield! That's where I grew up. -
Gonna take a while to get used to the 20 game schedule. I know "expansion was inevitable" blah, blah, blah. I don't want Rutgers (among others) in the B1G.

2019 General Recruiting Thread
Hardwood83 replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Absolutely. I don't want to fall in love too much with Villanova's recent run, but it's obvious they aren't the most "talented" team. They are plenty skilled and have athletes of course, but I'm impressed that they play SMART and HARD. Good players that don't beat themselves with idiotic mistakes (TO's, silly fouls, poor shot selection) and compete ALL the time and never quit. That is a very simple recipe for winning a lot of basketball games. Sheesh, even the dorks at Wisconsin figured it out. -
Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers
Hardwood83 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Hmmmm, I want to be excited about this comment. Would love Race & Moore to blow-up, but the thought of "passing" on a proven post player based on a few weeks of workouts concerns me. -

There is only one reason anyone should go to Vandy- because it's an easy way to get tickets to watch whoever the visiting team is. -
Wouldn't you guess that was just the casual fans who remember him as a player, but had no idea what about his coaching performance? Anyone that had followed his career from Iowa on and wanted him at IU is an idiot, IMO.

Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers
Hardwood83 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Absolutely. If he plays as much as I think he will (~22min/game) those numbers are conservative. Seemed like Justin had the right idea most of the time, but didn't finish often enough. I expect that to change in season 2. -

That is where I am too. I agree IU has a lot of big bodies...until you analyze it. DD is a complete coin toss with his recovery. Thompson looks very promising- as a Power forward. But a 6'7" R/S Fr playing major minutes at Center concerns me. Moore and Forrester weigh about 250 between them. Point is a grad transfer like Porter that can score a little, defend and rebound would be a huge benefit and allow for a lot of flexibility with the rest of the line-up. -

I think these are reasonable- if not likely. As mentioned above, most teams in the B1G look to take a step back. Who will be better? Wisconsin, maybe Iowa.....and IU ,assuming Romeo signs, Team defense picks up where they left off last year, we get Solid PG play (Green & Rob) and Interior offense and defense from whoever. -

It is fun to think about....but if the opening game line-up has 3 freshmen and a soph I will be utterly shocked. -
I could see the State government riding in to save the day.
