Yeah, but I agree with Mdn82, Crean didn't do anything that all other coaches do. He clearly wasn't the right fit for Indiana but he did manage to put together the best team in the country one year and had some very talented teams other years. The wild inconsistency sunk him. We all remember no defense, then can't shoot the next year. No post play after that. Crean certainly had professional and maybe some personal failings, but he's hardly the super-villain some want to make out.

IU QB Dawkins Leaves IU program
Hardwood83 replied to CrossboneIU22's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Competition is hard. Ohio State's crowd might say unkind things about him, Mich State's defense would probably be unnecessarily rough. If he's this delicate I think it's for the best he quit now. If he was 3rd string behind a true Freshman then that's on him, get better and don't leave the coaches any option but to play you. -
(2019) SG Armaan Franklin to IU

I'm lukewarm. Nothing against him, just not excited about the prospect. I'd prefer Newman or Bouknight. -
2019 General Recruiting Thread
Hardwood83 replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
That would be fabulous. Hard to project a depth chart with that group, but those things work themselves out. Newman or Bouknight would blend nicely with that group, IMO. -
I like it. Personally wouldn't say IU "should" win the conference, but I definitely think they could and should be in the hunt. I can see why people doubt, as Archie said 8 players that haven't played for IU before. So lots of new faces, Green has been inconsistent, Davis health is uncertain and Fitzner wasn't even a stand-out in the WCC. Still, IU should be better and deeper at every position. Two all B1G caliber players, more size and athleticism. If a few things come together it could be a really good team that improves throughout the season. Also I don't think the B1G is back to its usual level yet. Many solid teams but none that are elite and several that might outright blow.

Let's hope they give him about four more years to (not) figure it out! Let the dumpster fire burn itself out, I say. -

High school team unique nicknames

Watertown, WI HS are the Goslings- as in baby Geese. Not sure why. -
Me too. It's just a brief highlight video, but Al looked good in those clips.

Tyler Hansborough is one of the 5 best ever at UNC? He was a very good college player- but that's silly.
-
That isn't even required anymore. UNC basically said "yeah, so we pretended to educate athletes to gain competitive advantage, that's none your business NCAA" and won. Pathetic.

I like the black pants (and block "I" helmets)!

(2019) PF Matthew Hurt to Duke
Hardwood83 replied to goonaha's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Kansas and new darling Memphis.....that is swimming with some sharks. I don't expect Hurt to end up at IU, but I don't think it's crazy either. TJD, Hurt, Brooks and a top 100 guard? Yes, please. -
Fitzner being the best shooter should put to rest any question about how much he'll play. Obviously he'll need to defend and rebound too, but having a weapon at the 5 will make IU REALLY hard to defend.

(2019) SG James Bouknight to UCONN

That or no one at the local YMCA league was interested in their offer. -
(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
Hardwood83 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I suspect that 15-18 yr old recruits aren't too interested in sexual abuse allegations that don't directly involve them. That isn't intended as a dig as much as an observation. If they don't believe it will cost Izzo his job, I guess they don't care that much. Look at Louisville. Sure they fired Pitino....but are right back at it pursuing top recruits....who aren't exactly appalled by the cesspool recruiting them. -
Pffft, UNC and Kentucky claim they educate their athletes. THAT is misleading.

that gif should definitely be added to the emoji options. Talk about a picture = 1000 words. -
IU Baseball

IU has definitely won the press conference and off-season so far. I'm very pleased with the staff and direction of the baseball program. -
(2019) PG DJ Carton to Ohio State

I'm not an "ink" kind of guy, but I would contribute $$ towards getting you the biggest tat you want to celebrate a NC! -
It's hard to compare different eras, Stats aren't everything, and it was before I was born- but Big Mac AVERAGED 30pts and 15 Reb/game!!! I'd go: Isiah, Alford, Calbert, McGinnis, Benson

Hoosier Hysteria - Sept 29th, 2018. Time: 4:00 - 6:00 pm
Hardwood83 replied to akinnaird24's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm probably in the minority here- but Sept is too early, IMO. Pretty soon it's gonna be after fireworks on July 4th. One of the few things I agree with Dickie V about, College BB starts too early and gets over-shadowed by Football (in most of the country, of course doesn't apply in Indiana.) -
(2019) SG Brandon Newman to Purdue
Hardwood83 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I would like to get Newman. Reputation as a shooter, but looks like a solid all around player. I hope he continues to improve and makes the right choice and goes to IU. -

(2019) SF Trendon Watford to LSU
Hardwood83 replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I'd rather have them at Memphis than pUKe or KU. They'll make a big splash and then amount to nothing, kind of like UNLV did for a few years when they signed some high profile guys (Goodluck, Anthony Bennet, Zimmerman) and still missed the tourney, if I remember correctly.
