IUBB vs U of Southern Indiana (Exhibition) - Thurs., 11/1

You are way more accommodating as a parent than I am. My kid starts cheering for another B1G team I'd punch him in the face. Just kidding.....it would probably be a gut punch. -

I'm still shocked (and delighted) DD is playing 5 on 5 in OCTOBER!! Don't like to hear about Green & Race though. Friggin injuries. -

This reminds me of the Iowa game, they just don't look very interested. -

(2019) PF Isaiah Stewart to Washington

I guess we're rooting for Washington then. -
Except for Vandy- their pro style coach is enough to attract top talent there. There is a video of his work during a time-out that proves his coaching chops. Top notch.

What is the point of having a "preseason" award list? If someone comes from out of the blue and has a tremendous year, they aren't eligible? If they are, then what does the list accomplish? Are these just like preseason conf champ picks? Not being snarky, I really don't get it.

Excellent point. (I know because I've mentioned the same thing in other threads ;). Cheating is cheating. Paying these kids/families isn't about fixing some financial inequity. It has nothing to do with "fairness" or "giving them what they deserve" it is to gain an illicit advantage, win and make more money yourself. Do you think Bill Self gives a royal $h!t about Billy Preston or Cal is concerned for the family of Karl Anthony-Towns? They are cheating and screwing everyone else that isn't cheating, merely to enrich themselves. Nothing noble, decent or acceptable about it. Giving college kids a stipend won't change that unless the penalty for violations are severe enough that it's mostly not worth it. Some will still cheat, but why don't NBA teams pay players under the table? Because the owners would get fined up the butt or kicked out of the league....there is a lesson there. The hard part is controlling boosters/agents that have no accountability.

Sorry- this was an edit gone wrong.

I expect pot to be largely legalized within 5yrs, 10 at the outside. Some states will hold out, but way too much money being made in Colorado, California, etc. Personally I think smoking pot is stupid, but I don't like the govt telling people what to do, either. Freedom = ability to make stupid choices you have to live with. Btw, this is one of the reasons I love this site- FBI Corruption trial leads to legalization discussion! PS- Coach K is lying, cheating rat-faced bastard and everyone knows it.

UNpossible! Roy just said he's never paid a player and Cal claims he can swoop in and grab any recruit at anytime without cheating. End of story, nothing to see here. -

Or.......maybe Archie is intentionally taking a small class in 2019 because Romeo has secretly pledged to stay for 3 seasons! -

Exactly. Big difference between absence of info/reading tea leaves and being intentionally deceived. Sure felt like DG was being shifty- not sure why and doesn't really matter now, but Hoosier Guy wasn't the only one fooled, including several pros, if I recall. -
OUT- EFFFING -STANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who detests Teddy? <<<<This guy.

Completely agree and would take it a step farther, I think it's unreasonable not to have those expectations. None of those schools care about basketball as much as IU's fan-base. None of them have any inherit advantages either. In fact, only OSU is even close, IMO. IU should be the class of the B1G, like Mich State has become and we as a fan-base shouldn't accept any less.

So the question becomes will Alford get a pass for under-performing this season due to the injuries?
-
Like most of you I would love this whole process to clean up basketball and change the paradigm. I'm not that hopeful, but at the very least I want the most egregious offenders to get their pee-pee's slapped HARD. If Kentucky, Duke, No Carolina, Kansas and a handful of other obvious cheaters skate by- while Okla State and Auburn get torched it will really put the lie to the whole NCAA enforcement idea.

That is amazing to actually scrimmage just 9mos after his injury. I was fully expecting him to basically sit until Jan 1, with a redshirt a real possibility. More options is more better.
-
Yep, Penny has "over-hyped flameout" written all over him. I envision a couple years high level recruits and occasional big wins that will tantalize the masses and feed the narrative only to be quickly followed by head-scratching losses and a general lack of direction and control (read discipline and compliance) in the program with it all ending in acrimony and disappointment. I could be wrong, but all indications to me scream "in way over his head!"
-
I agree and if Rob does end up starting I REALLLLLY hope it's because he is just that good and not because Green/Durham fail. That would be bad.
-
No shame. This has exposed the open secret that the top level recruits have a price. The schools consistently signing 5 stars are ipso facto cheating. Nobody is going to Duke or Kentucky for the lovely campus or academic programs. They are getting paid by someone.

That's reasonable. I'm very impressed with Miller so far- and he wasn't one of my favorites for the job initially- but he's still got a ways to go. The progress is encouraging and you can see it coming together. -
