Fair point.

Who are you addressing? Because I never mentioned any missed shots. Actually, I was super duper exhaustive about EFFORT NOT PRODUCTION. But for the record, I don't care that IU missed some shots or made a bad pass. I care that they didn't seem to care about any of it. Did you watch the game or read what I posted. Are you sure? Go ahead and check what I wrote again, and I'll wait..... If you don't get the difference then I don't know what to tell you, other then you are absolutely right to be embarrassed, but it's about the wrong thing.

Of course you can judge character based on what you see....what else is there to judge? (Serious question, btw). What you do IS who you are. Of course we all have failings, but that is the measure- what we do. How about instead "attacking" their character, let's say I'm challenging it. Prove me wrong, Hoosiers, cuz what I saw tonight wasn't a tenacious bunch of competitors that demand victory. It was a group that was out-hustled by some schlubs and did just enough to get by because they didn't want to be bothered. It doesn't sit well with me. Apparently a lot of people here saw a different game than I did. Finally, If they are THAT tired then play Moore, Blackmon and Jager or shut-up about it. Juwan played the entire game but wasn't taking plays off. Anyway, enough of that stuff. I wasn't looking to argue. I wanted to vent. I think IU mailed it in tonight and it REALLY chapped my hide.
-
Never claimed to "know" anyone, I'm just reacting to what I saw and it really makes me mad. I can accept IU getting beat by a better team. Having a poor shooting night, bad luck, etc. I don't believe that was the case tonight. You think they were "just tired", I think it was disinterest in competing. I guess we'll just have to disagree. And no, I don't have to stay with anything all year, the onus is on IU, I'm not on scholarship. But I'm ready and eager to jump back on the band-wagon, but tonight's performance (other than Juwan) was pitiful (objectively) and it had nothing to do with the opponent or fatigue (subjectively.)
-
Whatever makes you feel better- I saw what I saw. Fatigue at the end of the game? That I could understand. Throwing lazy passes, not trying on defense and generally getting out-hustled by a bunch of dorks for the first 30 minutes ain't fatigue, it's lack of interest and THAT is a character issue.
-
I appreciate your instinct to defend the team- but I agree with WatShot. That was a gutless display tonight that had little to do with fatigue, IMO. They lost my respect tonight.
-
Absolutely. I'm tired of excuses. UC-Davis absolutely sucked. They aren't bad, they are terrible and IU should have beat them by 35 without breaking a sweat. even worse was they seemed to be waiting to "turn it on" at some point. I'm sick of this crap and dreading the epic beat-down coming Tues.
-
I agree. I don''t want to over-react, but this is unacceptable. There is no freaking reason for IU to struggle like this consistently. NONE. This was a test of character and IU failed. Only Juwan gave an effort for the 1st 30 minutes. Let the walk-ons play. It couldn't be any worse then that embarrassing effort tonight. I'm disgusted. Injuries don't prevent you from giving effort or playing defense.

This group of schmucks haven't scored 60 in their previous 6 games and now put up 40 in a half at SSAH? (Shake my head.) The fact IU will get blitzed by 50 playing like this against Duke is the cherry on top.
-
Do Smith & Fitzner have a neurological condition that makes it impossible for them to actually catch the ball? Ridiculous
-
It was deserved. They are playing like they don't care. Like I said before, even if they win by 20 it's a pitiful display.
-
At least Juwan has some balls.
-
Even if IU ends up winning by 20 this is a loss to me. Absolutely inexcusable not to try. I'm personally offended by this $h!t.
-
WTF x2 This pisses me off. Lack of effort plain and simple.
-
**Sigh** this is discouraging. Poor defense, TO's and missed FT's, just pathetic.
-
I only watched the 1st half, but Wisconsin doesn't have much after Happ. There are a few nice complimentary players (Davidson & Iverson) and they do play hard and smart, but will be interesting how Gard does going forward once he only has his own players.

2019 General Recruiting Thread

Or Grad Transfer(s)? I still think TJD & Brooks are likely though. -
(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
Hardwood83 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Over-hyped? That is impossible! Duke woulda beat the '92 Olympic dream team by 45! In fact they could win every Olympic medal, in every sport! Once Zion Williamson learns to read he will cure cancer and Coach K's $h!t don't even stink, even after he eats at Taco Bell. Pffft, Over-hyped. -
I agree, I thought B1G would be down again with all the talent lost. It appears I was wrong.

IUBB vs. Marquette 11/14 at 8:30 ET
Hardwood83 replied to Stromboli's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I like the things happening on my TV. After listening to the Inside the Hall podcast preview I thought IU would be lucky to lose by 25. This team has some grit and heart and for the most part plays smart. So refreshing. -
My pure guess is that everyone but Race and Jerome play tomorrow. REALLY hope these injuries clear up and the full compliment is available soon...but Hunter's doesn't sound promising.

IUBB vs Montana State - 11/9 - 8:00 ET
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I am aware of that, Some of the dunks have looked great too. As I said though, it LOOKS horrible- like a Y League offense. I'm sure you're right and I'm over-reacting. -
IUBB vs Montana State - 11/9 - 8:00 ET
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It's early and has been against two poor opponents.....but I'm concerned. The offense looks horrible- they just throw it around the perimeter until someone jacks up a 3 or drives into the defense. Have drawn plenty of fouls, but missed FT's at a maddening rate. The defense has been solid and there is clearly talent, but they look a lot rougher then I hoped. Also really disappointed in Green's play so far and it doesn't appear Smith can finish a lay-up if anyone is near him....then he misses any FT's. I guess I bought into the hype too much, but was expecting more because this looks like a talented collection of players, but not a team yet. I know, it's early, but am I wrong? I try not to be "that guy" but have been irritated after both games so far. -
My Captain Obvious insight: FT shooting needs to improve a lot and quickly. Inexcusable to shoot 57%, just pathetic and pisses me off. It will cost IU games. Another thought, going into the season I expected DG to be the PG with a heavy dose of Phinisee from the bench. From what I saw last night I think it's pretty clear Phinisee is THE PG for this team. I still hope Green figures it out, because he has talent, but I want IU to win, so screw potential, gimme production.

IUBB vs U of Southern Indiana (Exhibition) - Thurs., 11/1
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
You are way more accommodating as a parent than I am. My kid starts cheering for another B1G team I'd punch him in the face. Just kidding.....it would probably be a gut punch.
