I'm still confused, did they actually call a foul on BOTH players? And yes I saw the mystery foul too. In fairness the Minnesota player had a really mean look on his face so probably deserved it.
-
Agree- Morgan isn't quite as automatic with high stats, but I'm sure his usage rate is a fraction of the other two also.
-
What's wrong with Forrester? He was wearing black with all the injured guys.
-
He is a really good defensive player too- I don't like him, but he is good. How tough would IU be with him?
-
Screw you Wisconsin. I love it.
-
Seriously, Minnesota? Wisconsin is on a run and your answer is for your PF to shoot a fade away early in the shot clock? Really dumb.
-
Without Happ Wisconsin is abysmal. I like their trajectory under Gard- straight to the toilet where they belong.
-
Absolutely, they'll give the wink & nod to the officials and 3 of Minnesota's starters will be fouled out in short order. Only risk to Wisconsin at home is tendinitis from shooting so many FT's......but I may be a little jaded and cynical.

IUBB vs. Illinois - Thurs., 1/3 @ 7:00
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
no kidding, tonight was a trainwreck for him and almost IU at the end. TO's and air-balled lay-ups and floaters that were forced.......his TO that led to the break that cut the lead to 9 with about 3:30 to play was THE reason they even threatened late. Just maddening. I hope he steps it up at Michigan, but can see IU getting blitzed largely due to being dominated at the PG. -
No kidding. concussions are serious, but they aren't mystical and unknowable. I can understand that Race had a severe concussion, but something doesn't seem right with this whole process, particularly with Rob.
-
Not sure that is fair. A MAC or Sunbelt school would have been an ideal first-step before getting thrown into the B1G East. Not an excuse- since Glass chose him and he accepted, but I think it's a little harsh to declare his career over based on the last 2 seasons. If IU doesn't make progress next season, then I agree that the seat will (and should) start getting warm.

Stevie Boy Wonder Fired at UCLA
Hardwood83 replied to AZ Hoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Difference is one involved a hypothetical/philosophical viewpoint the other involved human beings in an actual event. Knight may be a jackass but no one seriously believed he was promoting rape. As for Steve, I love him as a Hoosier hero but am very happy he is not the coach. I don't want him to fail, but am not willing for him to try to succeed at IU either. -
Stevie Boy Wonder Fired at UCLA

Completely agree, but hard to fault someone for reaching for the brass ring, but my question is what in Alford's coaching experience made UCLA think he was a good hire? -
(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA
Hardwood83 replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Hmmm, if you're comparing Freshman Morgan to Freshman TJD I'd agree. JW was a nice player as a FR, but was hurt and not very dynamic. I expect much more from TJD,'s first season , but SR JW vs FR TJD? Well, if he exceeds that then we've got ourselves a winner! I hope you are right. -
If we were to leave Adidas. Who is your pick?

I have very strong political & social opinions but I really detest when companies and businesses have agendas and biases, even if I agree with them. I don't want to "support" any cause with my purchases, I can do that on my own, and it's exhausting and mind-numbing to track what store or brand is for what. I know that is the world we live in, but am soooooo tired of everything "making a statement" or "standing for" something. Sheesh, can I just buy a sandwich and please hold the moralizing? Anyway, having said all that, Nike has the coolest stuff, IMO. I would like IU to go with whoever is gonna offer the best deal. -
I like what I've seen and read about Leal, (for some reason he reminds me of Pat Graham) good shooter, good size , Top 100 hometown kid and IU definitely looks like it will really need guards. What is the thinking here, does IU eventually offer? Holding out to see who else might commit first?
-
Yep, not sure he'll be an all-conf type player, but he is definitely a conference championship winning type player.
-
He shut-down Jordan and....that is about it. But I don't care so much about that, don't even mind some fair-minded criticism of IU. It's the nit-picking and condescending style that wears me out.
-
Seriously, the kid from Martinsville is going to Purdue? C'mon man.

I find it hard to believe that any sentient IU fan is NOT thrilled Alford isn't the coach at Indiana. No matter what you think about him personally (I love him as a player) his coaching results have nothing, absolutely NOTHING to recommend them. I want him to succeed (ok, maybe not at UCLA) but have little expectation of that happening. Above average recruiter and below average coach. As for Dakich, the fact he whined about Crean's firing and then about Alford getting passed over tells me about all I need to know about his opinion. He knows X's & O's, but severely lacks common sense. If he did all that for notoriety then it's even worse. Maybe he's an entertainer, but I'm not entertained. Lots of other commentators and analysts do just fine without savaging their alma maters to gain cred.

"UCLA has three former five-stars and five former four-stars in the available lineup, and is getting blown out by any good team it faces and is being taken to the wire by average teams." And "UCLA is averaging 6,150 at home" Fat lady is singing....unless he pulls off some late season miracle, which would be hilarious. Win the Pac 12 tourney, and a game or 2 in the NCAA's. Suck on it UCLA!

IUBB vs Central Arkansas - 12/19 @ 7:00
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
That's as good a comparison as any. High-risk, high-reward. Like someone said above, I REALLY hoped and expected DG to make the jump and be more under control this season. Been a disappointment, but he had a nice stretch towards the end of last season where he strung solid games together. -
Breaking the schedule down into Thirds
Hardwood83 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Ugh, these 11-9 to 13-7 predictions are realistic, but will still be very disappointing. The B1G is definitely better overall than I expected but a 20-11 season sucks. -
Juwan Morgan's climb up the all-time scoring record list
Hardwood83 replied to ray's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
No doubt- Alford with 3 more years of 3pt! or Whitman? I know there were others, but that is about as far back as my frame of reference goes. -
Juwan Morgan's climb up the all-time scoring record list
Hardwood83 replied to ray's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Me too. AJ was a scoring machine. Also, this shows how the early 90's were LOADED with great players. Not exactly a newsflash, but 6 of the top 14 all-time scorers overlapped during the 90-95 timeframe, plus so many other really solid contributors. Badly want IU to get back to that level, where the #4 option is still a stud and the bench is full of ballers too.
