Marian vs Indiana (exhibition) Fri. 11/1 7PM BTN+
Hardwood83 replied to Dave from Dayton's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm with you. What I think should happen is the B1G network should offer their basic programming and then negotiate to rebroadcast all the games of each school as additional package. So I get "IU+" from them for $15/mo or whatever and EVERY broadcast game of IU is on there. I'm sure it would be a mess to sort out all the rights and fees, but that would solve the canibalization they have going now. I got HULU/ESPN/Disney for a month so I could watch the Tenn exhibition, but only because there was a promo and my family will get some use out of it for the month, then I cancel. I got Peacock last year for $20. So I'm just playing "promo hide & seek" with these streaming services, then dropping them. That isn't a sustainable model for anyone. -

No B1G road game is ever easy. Even N'western put up a fight for 3 quarters, and they are objectively bad. I don't care about style points, just get the win. Not that I would be upset at a 35pt drubbing of Lil Sparty, but as a longtime IUFB fan, wins of any sort are still a novelty. -

Agreed, and most of them were good looks in the 1st half, just not falling. I am concerned about the guards 3p shooting, but expect Mbako & Goode to be fine. -

Right idea. Give him $1mil bonus for each win this year, only catch, he has to stay for at least 5yrs or pay it back. -

He's only 7'1" though, needs a few more inches to get Matt's motor running. -
Braylon Mullins (2025) SG - to UConn
Hardwood83 replied to Barrel Rick's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I am sorry to miss on Mullins since I grew up in Greenfield and felt a personal connection there and of course, I think he would help IU.....but having said that, I'm not that torn up about it. Maybe it's excitement over the current roster or realization that there is a new paradigm in recruiting/roster building. I'd prefer IU keep the best instate players at home, but until they do I guess we'll have to buy mercenaries in the open market, like UCONN just did. -
(2025) - PF Eric Reibe to UConn
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I agree. As vocal as Reibe has been about 'playing time' I'm a little concerned promises are being required. Other than a very few elite level big men, starting a true freshman isn't a recipe for success. Shopping the portal for a couple more seasoned posts makes more sense, especially with IU"s recent success at the position. So I'd like to get Reibe, but not if he is demanding 25mpg. -

Hardwood83 replied to Barrel Rick's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I'm not expecting full disclosure all the time. But I don't see the point in playing "I know something you don't know" with cryptic hints that can be walked back later. Up to them to share info or not, but telling me you have info you can't share is silly, imo. And even worse is pretending to know, when you don't. But of course you are right, the internet, is gonna internet. -

Sure, without hard info these threads do tend to devolve into some purse-swinging and petty insults. I remember one that strayed into a discussion about the male refractory period. But just when you are about fed up and think it's not worth it anymore one of the usual suspects posts something funny, poignant or touching. We all have a good laugh, realize we're all in this together and see we've actually learned something about ourselves. At the end of the day, isn't that what really matters? -

Hardwood83 replied to Barrel Rick's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Gotta love the "I have some info that I can't share right now, but trust me, these other jerks don't know what they are talking about" posts. If you don't know, you don't know. If you can't reveal what you know, that is the same as not knowing, so don't bother teasing some "it will all be revealed" secret agent, cliff-hanger BS. Obviously that damages the "insider" personna but sheesh. Provide info, be quiet or just admit you are guessing like the rest of us. (rant directed at the Tyme screenshot) -

Sounds like a win-win! Complicates UCONN recruitment of Mullins and hurts the Illini? I'm all for it. -

Braylon Mullins (2025) SG - to UConn
Hardwood83 replied to Barrel Rick's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I agree with all your points except the 'gut-wrenching' part. If he goes to UCONN or UNC then that is just a bad choice on his part. Not for basketball, but all the other reasons you mentioned. He can go to UCONN and be another guy on their team and win a lot of games...... Will that better prepare him for the NBA than at IU? Maybe, but probably not. Or this kid could OWN Indiana, in a Damon Baileyesque way, if he is even 75% of what we think he is. All you can do is provide opportunity. If Braylon goes elsewhere it will be disappointing, but mostly for him. In the 49 other states it's just basketball...... -
IU is better than Nebraska. Obviously that doesn't guarantee anything, but IU should win.
-
Yep, whatever IU has in the athletic dept account they should give it to him. All of it, every cent.

#23 IUFB @ Northwestern - Saturday, 10.05.24 @ 3:30 ET on BTN
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
On the one hand IU D looked suspect from the middle of the first quarter to the middle of the fourth. Made a below average QB look pretty good, since he never had to check down from his primary target, they were always open. On the other hand, IU is bowl eligible before Columbus Day. 6-0 for only the second time ever. Unbelieveable. Just amazing. -

I haven't heard that name in a long time! On the short list of "least cool NBA player names" for sure. It sounds like an accouting firm- "At Granville & Waiters we make the numbers work for you!" -

Purdon't picked to win the Big Ten
Hardwood83 replied to Loaded Chicken Sandwich's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Whenever the time comes IU needs to hire the best they can get, not whoever is next in line. IMO of course. If Sherw is the best possible then ok....but that would be pathetic. and back to regular scheduling= Purdoo sucks! Insert your own inappropriate caption here: -
Way fewer STD's here than a PU board.

Purdon't picked to win the Big Ten
Hardwood83 replied to Loaded Chicken Sandwich's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Purdoo has a lot of excellent supporting players. Just not sure who they will be supporting this year. I'm sure they will be solid, but not buying the conference favorite. I'm afraid Illinois might be good. Underwood seems to know what he's doing. -
Most disappointing thing I've read today: "Northwestern leads the all-time series with Indiana 47-35-1, including victories in five of the past six meetings." I know IUFB is historically awful, but I didn't expect that we have been owned by the pretentious MAC school in Chicago. How putrid. Gotta start rectifying that this week!

(2025) - PG Jalen Haralson to Notre Dame

But not hard to transfer out, so as you said, gotta nail it and keep them. Easier said than done, nowdays. -
Willl he get fired after winning 3 Natl Championships?.......if so, those terms are acceptable.
