2024 (F) Kanon Catchings and Whatever
Hardwood83 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
They can go back to the same style, but not necessarily the same results. They've had hulking dorks there forever, but Edey was the most capable and the rest of the team was built to compliment him. I don't think it will be plug n play with anyone else. -

Hmmm, can't find any as high as #2, but according to this link they rank from 10th (including Andy Katz) to 18th. Guess Catchings is gonna miss out on an epic season in East Berlin. -
(2025) - PG Jalen Haralson to Notre Dame
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
He looks great and would love IU to sign him, but he doesn't feel like and Indiana guy to me. Seems like the sort to go to the current hottest school. Hope I'm wrong. -
2024 (F) Kanon Catchings and Whatever

Wait, wut?! Choosing Purdoo at #2 in conference is wildly optimistic, but in the NATION? That is silly. -
You might have a point, but how much impact has your champion's mentality had on IU's results over the last 30yrs? Same as mine, none.
-
I don't care about the institution formerly known as 'college basketball' anymore. Clearly none of the decision makers do, so why should I? I want IU to win and Hurley's presence makes that harder.
-
I don't blame him, but was hoping he'd go.
-
All just speculation, but Belein came pretty close to a NC a couple times at Michigan. I'd sure like to have seen it play out at IU.

Couple of thoughts- there are a number of really terrible human beings on that list, just total POS. Second, if those are the top 50 (not arguing either way) then the talent pool has gotten pretty shallow, IMO.

Not sure about all of Stuhoo's recommendations, but he knows Boston. Had an excellent Italian meal and some good canolis, thanks for the info!

I'm glad he's leaving Illinois, but these are the transfers I don't get. Obviously each situation is unique, but multi-year starter on a winning team? Same for guys leaving Alabama etc. It's not PT and probably not NIL $$....grass is always greener? I don't understand why this is so wide-spread.

I don't sniff and tell....or maybe I do. I regret nothing!

This thread is relevant to my interests because: A) I was in Alaska last year at this time, it's fantastic! Even met Alaska Hoosier in person. He and the Mrs are lovely people. And trust me, he looks better in person (and smells incredible too!). B) Taking a family trip to New England this year, flying into Boston on Friday. Gonna take some of Stuhoo's suggestions.

I think you are mostly right, but "NCAA brought this on themselves" doesn't make me feel any better. I don't know what the result of these settlements & rulings will be on "college" athletics popularity overall, but am 100% certain *I* won't like it, and suspect I am not alone. Pro sports already exist, but I still greatly prefer(ed) college football & basketball. Making college sports a bastardized pro league with some vague academic ties, doesn't intrest me.

Agreed, there is no advantage to 'saving' a scholarship. It's just wasted. IU is already bringing in a minimum of 5 new guys next year, probably 6-7, with 0 commits, so not like there is a crunch. -
FIFY: INDIANA FOOTBALL;, Slogan: "If it can go wrong, it already did." I'll go 6 wins. If CC gets 8+? He should be National coach of the year, get a 50% raise and a 40ft tall bronze statue in front of the stadium. Not kidding.
-
You are correct, there should be a balanced conference schedule, but since an 18 team "conference" is stupid and unmanageable, that's impossible. Don't worry the brain trust at B1G HQ will solve the problem by adding 2-4 more teams any day now....

Interesting short article about NIL money in the "Big Ten" although only 3 teams are actually mentioned: Link This is news to me, I thought Purdoo was struggling in NIL? Purdue and Illinois are said to have the Big Ten’s largest men’s basketball NIL budgets, about $2.5 million a year. Insiders say the Gophers’ men’s basketball NIL budget is barely one-fourth of that.

IU Baseball @ Nebraska - May 10-12, 2024

IU won 10-5, scored 7 in the top of the 9th! -

12-15mpg seems realistic since Ballo has averaged under 27mpg the last 2 seasons. Of course, I'm assuming Reneau will not play meaningful mins at the 5. Could be wrong on both accounts. -

You have a right to scorn them, it is shameful. Saying "I'm a UK fan" is the same as saying "I wish my parents were related." -
Not sure where to post this: Twitter link Edey "throwing" first pitch at Cubs game. Sure there have been some awful ceremonial first pitches over the years, but this is especially egregious. What punishment would be approriate for him? I think a series of electric shocks or good caning (Singapore style) is in order.

Sure, can't fault him. Sure wish he would have looked at IU prior to last season however. He coulda gotten plenty of PT, $$ closer to home, all that. -

Yep, I'm more interested in his defense & rebounding anyway. Of course, I'd love to have a solid offensive post option off the bench, but what is a necessity is a competent back-up big that won't get torched when your main guy is out of the game. If Hatton isn't that guy, then keep looking, but I'm not too finicky.
