(2020) PF Matt Cross to Miami

Wonder how they think that is working out for them now?! By my unofficial count Cal has recruited 37 other wings since Brooks committed. My response? Sure it's petty, but I don't want ANYONE to succeed at Kentucky. Made your slimy choice, now stew in it Keion.

It's June, what else are we gonna discuss?

    (2019) PG Austin Van Zyl

I was referencing this story: https://www.hoosiersportsreport.com/2019/05/miller-plans-to-bank-2-open-scholarships/ CAM: "“We would only use one if it was an impactful decision. We’re not going to use one just to be hasty. We’ve had all spring to evaluate things, but going into the 2020 class with some more windows to add some more bodies in that class is something that we’ve looked forward to.” So IF he brings on Van Zyl he must think he's 'impactful'. Here's hoping.

Logically you are correct, but it just reeks of desperation, doesn't it? A week or so ago Archie says he's "banking" 2 open schollies, now he's keeping in regular contact with some off the radar kid that no one has heard of? Nothing wrong with checking out all options, but this is not the kind of roster management of an up & coming program, is it?

    2019-2020 Basketball Schedule

I wish IU was playing Pitt or some bottom dweller. I want to win consistently- including in the ACC/B1G challenge- before I worry about perception. Just win and the accolades and credibility will follow. I realize I am likely in the minority in this opinion, but IU is a mediocre team until proven otherwise and should schedule accordingly (even though the conf office actually chooses these matchups)

I completely agree- for next season. But tying up a scholarship for 2+ yrs? Not interested.

    Memphis vs Indiana

I would be ok with this, but gotta make the tourney. Of course that is sitting here in June, come Sept I reserve the right for my expectations to run away with me! But if IU misses the tourney again, I am off the Archie bus. I didn't agree to any 4-5 yr plan just to make the friggin NCAA's. That will be unacceptable. Memphis sucks.

If I'm putting together a team for a Geography Bee, this kid is my first round pick. For IU's BB team? Ehhhhh, no thanks.

    Memphis vs Indiana

No, nothing will "alleviate moral issues" You may chose to over look them, but they don't disappear because of ill-gotten "success". Answer to question- Memphis. More talent in a weaker league. I'm not sold on Penny either, but he is stock-piling players and that will cover a lot of coaching.

(2020) C Zach Loveday to Baylor

I approve of this development. Not sure how likely IU is to land him, but I would always like to see 2 real centers on the roster- no one under 6'9" need apply :) I know there have been LOTS of under-sized over-achievers, but I would prefer over-sized over-achievers for once. I am not sold on "positionless" basketball. Unless you have lots real talent it seems to be an empty buzzword for unbalanced rosters full of tweeners that don't do anything well. All that said- C'mon down Zach! IU has as a nice 3 year starter opening for you!

    College Bball Thread

It does kind of feel that way. I don't think Archie is lazy or stupid or forgot how to coach...but I'm a lot less confident he's 'The Guy' then I was a year ago. Really hoping for an over-achieving season from a fairly pedestrian roster....otherwise it will be a real bummer with no hope for the foreseeable future.
  12. Anyone know where to get the conference championship shirts worn here: I can't find them anyplace- including the official website. Well done IU.

Wow, didn't expect them to split up! Glad they both aren't in the B1G and that it wasn't Wisconsin.

    IU Baseball: Big Ten Tourney

Very disappointing for them not to show up for the tourney. Even if it wouldn't improve their seeding, good teams compete, IU doesn't seem too interested in being here.

True- and in my opinion he doesn't even have to be great, just good and most important, consistent. In other words, play like a Senior.

(2019) SF Trendon Watford to LSU

Unlike the toothless in-breds of the Kentucky "schools" or the arrogant frauds in North Carolina, I would take little joy in victories IU gained by cheating. I agree it's pervasive and getting worse, but see the solution differently. I believe the NCAA needs a Buford Pusser to emerge and go all "walking tall" on the d-bags that cheat. Make it more painful to cheat than it is to compete fairly. I don't have much hope of that actually happening, but I'm a dreamer.

I wonder why UNC, Kentucky, Kansas or Duke never have APR issues? Those student-athletes must really hit the books!

    2019 General Recruiting Thread

That is puzzling to me too. I am fine with leaving a scholly or two open, but when you have a need and there are sooooo many options it is odd not to pursue......anyone. All the chips are on player development and the existing incoming guys I guess.
  19. I don't know if Matta is a home-run, but hard to see him as settling. He's been successful in the conference, is relatively young and doesn't have any obvious baggage (that I know of.) Again, I hope they screw it up, but I'd definitely have Matta on my short list. He might enjoy tweaking the O$U after they invited him to leave too.
  20. I'm ok with that. I don't agree. They have been consistently good the last 8yrs, but have been very up and down historically. They are a football school and will tolerate mediocrity in basketball. I think your Thad Matta idea is intriguing though, and I hope they don't make that move, as I believe he is a good coach, despite his monumentally ginormous clown nose.
  21. After Izzo (24), Painter has the most tenure in the conference at 14 years. Now with Michigan there will be 7 coaches with 4 yrs or less at their school. (Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio St, Illinois, Indiana, Rutgers, Wisconsin)
  22. Exactly, that is the gist of why I detest the cheaters so much. They aren't cheating "the system" they are screwing those who are honest. They are stealing from players, coaches and fans that aren't systemically & maliciously breaking rules for personal gain. I don't understand the wink-wink, nod attitude about the cheating, as if it's a badge of honor for those that really want to win badly. BS, it's the worst kind of scum that takes what they haven't earned then basks in the accolades as if they have. They are doing the same thing as the stolen valor D-bags that claim to be military vets so people ooh and aah, except they don't make millions of $$'s off it. Nick Saban, Calipari and their ilk should be hit in the head with an ax handle and thrown off a bridge, but since that is unlikely, at the very least shamed and fired. Instead they are constantly lauded when everyone, EVERYONE knows what is happening.

    2019 Coaching Carousel

Maybe, if they can find their guy. I'm hoping they make a panic hire and slip back to the malaise they were in for about 20yrs before Beilein. Them remaining near the top of the B1G is not a given. Ask me how I know :(

    2019 Coaching Carousel

I expect them to go the "interim" route, but who knows.
  25. Agree he seems like a decent guy and obviously a great coach- but that is why I'm not sad to see him leave! I want IU to win and that is tougher with a good Michigan program. So for selfish, immature and purely self-serving reasons I say "adios!" Now I want Michigan to flub the hire and set their program back for years to come!!
