IUBB vs Florida St Game Thread 12/3 @ 9 pm ESPN2
Hardwood83 replied to mamasa's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Depends on when you said it! Last year he definitely wasn't- this year, definitely is. -
I know it's early, but I've seen them 3-4 times this season and.....they aren't that good. Duke treated MSU the way MSU players treat women. I expect they'll improve- they usually do, but I think right now on a neutral court with both teams playing average IU beats them by double digits.

Absolutely and I agree with Archie. Justin is sooooooo much more mature and under control than in the past. Last year he would have had 47 TO's in a game like this. Tonight he was solid. Him and Devonte playing to their potential makes IU a really, really tough out. -

Not sure- but your feeling was a LOT more accurate than mine, and I am thrilled. Devonte in Beast Mode is a lot of fun! Suck it FSU! -

Sadly, neither am I, and expect IU to get torched. They just don't seem ready for their close up yet. -
I don't tip for carry-out. I think a tip is for service, not a reward for ringing up my order and handing me a bag. Maybe I'm a cheap bastard though. Her tweeting that is poor form.
-
Actually you are mistaken. The order isn't set in stone, but there is a pecking order and IU can't get passed over by Mich St or Illinois due to their records. From the Indystar: Under Big Ten practice, Indiana could not move ahead of a team more than one win better in bowl selection, so the Hoosiers cannot jump Penn State, Wisconsin or Minnesota. The same is true going in the other direction — neither Illinois nor Michigan State, both of which are 6-6, can jump Indiana. That would appear to rule out both the Quick Lane Bowl (Detroit) and also a return to the Red Box Bowl (San Francisco/Santa Clara).
-
This breaks it down pretty well: Daily Hoosier link I've read a couple times that the Music City bowl is interested in an IU -pUKe matchup. Makes a lot of sense.

Ha-ha, FSU can't GIVE this game to the Toilet-makers, no matter how hard they try.
-
C'mon Purdoo, go 0-2 today! If they do drop this game to FSU the pull to troll PU sites will be irresistible!!
-
He used up his payroll on all the position players. I suggest because their average player has an IQ slightly below a houseplant. It is soooooo delicious to see Saban lose, what a pompous, arrogant jackass he is. Just an epic d-bag. I hate Bama.

It's probably #3. Although IU has objectively been screwed at Wis several times. I would love to punch Frank Kaminsky right in his ugly Vlade Divac looking face.
-
I see Wisconsin brought their officials with them :/ 3 questionable calls (all in Wis favor) the first 2 mins I watched. No idea why they seem to be such a favorite. I (detest) but at least understand why the media darlings get the Michael Jordan treatment, but why Wisconsin?
-
Agreed. Sometimes he's funny, but usually just stream of consciousness. It's a verbal acid trip.
-
UGa looks very familiar :) Dribble around until someone gets free for a drive or hoists a three. I'm not a Crean hater, but his teams definitely have disturbing patterns and are entirely dependent on the talent.
-
I didn't watch the game, just saw the highlights on BTN after the IU game, but Aaron Henry looks like he is gonna be a baller. MSU as a team on the other hand? I know it's early and they likely will settle down, but they sure look like a team that has been reading their press. Anyone watching them versus Georgia?

(2020) PF/C - Dawson Garcia to Minnesota
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I think Brooks & Garcia hurt the most, not because they were "must have" guys, but because the staff seemed to prioritize them. Also it appeared IU was very realistic, if not leading, at some point for both. Finally there aren't any apparent other options to replace either of them. Brooks was too late in the process and for Garcia there doesn't seem to be any one comparable that IU is involved with. I've said before that I don't care who Archie recruits- as long as he wins. Unfortunately, we know that isn't how it works. For IU to be in the top-tier of the B1G and legitimately threaten NCAA run's they need high level talent and Garcia seemed like a perfect fit. The sky isn't falling, but this does sting a bit. -

I'm disappointed about Garcia not because I expected him to come to IU (although I had hope) but because he seems like a good kid with skills that would be a great fit. I'm sure he'll do fine at Marquette, but don't expect their team to have much success. Oh well, time to move on. -
Hmmm, I'm not as high on them as you are. I think they are capable and generally don't beat themselves, but not very dynamic or deep. Madison has been a house of horrors for IU the last 20+ yrs (what did Hayes have, 57 FT's against IU a few yrs back?) but they ARE beatable. And this IU team appears more prepared to do it than any for several years.

(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
Hardwood83 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I don't want anyone or anything to do well at pUKe (I even hope their Bluegrass gets blight) but in fairness it's 3 games into his Freshman season so it seems a little premature for him to be declared a bust. Let's wait until his hopes and dreams are truly dead before celebrating. -

Yeah, but I'd much rather he go to Marquette than Memphis (dirty) or Minnesota (play him regularly). -

Sometimes I forget if it's an IU site or an aviation enthusiasts one! I agree with many of the IU over Marquette analysis done here, but proximity and relationships count a lot. No idea how much in this case but they are important. We don't know how close he is with Marquette staff & team nor how much his family values being a few hours drive away versus a long drive/flight. -
Purdue is a first half team. Against Texas and again tonight they looked in control in the 1st then collapsed. They have 14pts in the 2nd half with 1:14 to play! Way to close strong toilet-makers!
-
Congratulations! Some unsolicited marriage advice here- dial back on the basketball & posting a bit for just a while. At least until you're unpacked and settled in, then by all means commence with your priorities as you see fit!

Did you watch it, was it merely Gators Poor shooting, Seminoles good defense or some combination?
