My 5 are: Fland, Perry, McNeely, Newell, Bidunga. The amazing thing is IU has other possibilities at each of those positions, some of which are more talented! ie Givens, Harper, Mustaf, Betsey, Queen, not bad.

2023 NCAA Baseball Tournament
Hardwood83 replied to LamarCheeks's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
I just saw a video of LSU after winning. Their players all look 30yrs old. No exaggeration, they were interviewing the DH and I thought it was a coach. I can't findf the exact video I watched (from a Baton Rouge station) but here is on Video -
Absolutely, was never a perfect world, just now with the ease of ejecting the guys that could develop (Gunn for example) are much more likely to bolt.

Yep. If Reeves will come and make IU better, you have to do it, despite hurt feelings and diminished opportunities for current players. I prefer the traditional dymnamic of building a team and developing players over time, but like much in our society that is a thing of the past. We prefer "right now" over what is "right", so guys will leave and a new crop will come in. Sometimes for good reasons, sometimes not. Let's hope IU has the right ingredients for a special season.

Any chance he redshirts? That would certainly clarify the depth chart and give him time to get 100% healthy.

If they are literate they'd be on the Dean's list at UK.

I'm sure it won't be popular, but I agree with this. Never gonna happen, but it should at least go back to 35.

Who fills the last scholarship?
Hardwood83 replied to Sardinefarts1991's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Sure, but bird in hand....seems like every off-season is gonna be a complete rebuild going forward so take the best you can get now and worry about tomorrow later. -
It's very cool that Dunbar and Randle El are on the College HOF ballot....but why do I have NO recollection of IU being a Nike school in the early-mid 90's?

The same Iowa staff that struck out 672 IU batters in a row? That Iowa pitching staff? -
Mongolian Mike Sharavjamts 6'8" G
Hardwood83 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Eclectic mix of schools. He feels like a Nebraska guy to me. A line-up of 6'3", 6'8", 6'8", 6'8", 7'1" would be something to see! -
So what is the plan. Enjoy the ambiance of West Laffy for another year then get a contract in Poland or Egypt? Or does he think he can improve his stock and slip into the 1st round?

Clearly you haven't held your nose and checked out their boards. They insist Heide and Colvin will revolutionize college basketball with their pure, dazzling athleticism. :) Also, their new 7'2" stiff Berg is a Ginger. I thought that needed to be stated.

So what is the dream class for '24? Fland, Perry, McNeely, Newell and Bidunga sounds good to me! Tyler Betsey, 6'7" 3pt shooting specialist, sounds very intriguing too. -
Caleb Love - UNC Transfer to Arizona

Fixed it for you :) and it needed to be stated again. One of IU's biggest recruiting wins of this offseason was NOT getting Love. -
2023 Big Ten Baseball Tournament
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
I appreciate the perspective and context. I haven't watched much until the last couple of weeks and frankly they have looked bad. Really bad, so it feels like they are fading. Hopefully a solid showing in the NCAA's leaves a good taste for the off-season. -

2023 Big Ten Baseball Tournament
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
I've gotta stop watching IU Baseball. When I do all they do is strikeout on offense and make errors on defense :( I know it's a small sample size, but they have looked horrible (@Mich St, Iowa and so far today.) Young team that has hit the wall? -

(2024) - PG Curtis Givens III to LSU
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
From that on3 article: Givens also knows what he’s looking for in a college. “The atmosphere is going to be big for me,” Givens said. “The culture of the school will be what I’m looking at on these visits. When I’m looking at a college, I’m looking for a place that will give their guards some freedom to make plays.” IU has a pretty strong case for those criteria -
(C) Kel 'el Ware - COMMITTED TO INDIANA
Hardwood83 replied to Chris007's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I still have some reservations about IU for next season too. BUT many other teams have 3 FIVE stars starting in the frontcourt and Goodman would be getting callouses on his knees slobbering over them. -
IU Baseball @ Michigan State - May 18-21, 2023

Nice to get the win. A Conference championship woulda been even cooler! -

I love these gray pin-striped road jerseys with the script "Indiana". I'd buy one, but just spent 15+ mins looking online and can't find them anywhere. :( -

Added bonus- not that far from home for him too. I like the way you think.
