Fixed that for you :) So as of now we have a possible visitor this weekend, but nothing else scheduled that we know of?

Kokomo Monster (2024) - C Flory Bidunga to Kansas
Hardwood83 replied to Indiana muskie's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Is there an expectation that Bidunga will be a "one & done"? Doesn't seem like that happens with big men much anymore (see Ware!) but I am not plugged into the NBA. -
(C) Kel 'el Ware - COMMITTED TO INDIANA
Hardwood83 replied to Chris007's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It definitely seems to be headed that general direction. As I have stated previously in other similar conversations, I am 100% for free market capitalism, so anyone earning an honest buck is terrific by me. That doesn't mean that EVERYTHING has to be for-profit, however. Do the High school players deserve a cut of the concession sales at their games? What about the 4th grade getting a portion of the gate when GrandPa comes to watch the Christmas play? Make no mistake, it IS the same thing, just a matter of degrees. I don't want to derail this thread anymore than it already is, but amatuer athletics doesn't have to be an oxy-moron. I will also say that Indiana University fielding pro teams isn't gonna interest me that much. Let anyone and everyone make all they want in pro sports, but how does sponsoring pro sports further the mission of a university? Glad Ware is coming to IU and I want IUBB to win....but at some point it doesn't make sense anymore. -
Maybe better in another thread, but I am interested how Howard became the recruit whisperer for IU? Clearly he's plugged in, just seemed to appear out of nowhere -from my perspective anyway.

One of my least favorite aspects of modern culture in general and social media in particular is the obsession with creating a response through artificial drama. "No publicity is bad publicity" clickbait BS is so tiresome. This is an innocuos, but prime example, of that. Katz knows PSU will be putrid, but that IU and Illinois fans will react. Yay, mission accomplished.....ugh. Ok rant over.

And Purdue doesn't have an open scholly currently.

I have ZERO intel and didn't mean to imply I did. My point was, as of now he's still got a visit scheduled a few days from now. I would hope they wouldn't waste everyone's time & money to host him unless they genuinely wanted him.

We'll see, but I'm not sure the coaching staff agrees.
-
Would you slot Ledlum in as a wing? How about Knecht? Are any other visits scheduled other than DeLoach this weekend?

LOCATED! The Holy Grail of IUBB Photos
Hardwood83 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
In my alternate time-line IU wins the '75 championship for sure. Maybe gets another sniff in '77 or '78? That is all before my time, but figuing if LB could drag ISU to the Finals he coulda done something similar with IU. -
Guess that depends on what kind of family you grew up in?! Don't like the Krikke guy to Iowa, that looks like a good pick-up for them :(

Chris Ledlum - Harvard Transfer to Tennessee -- Wait, Make That St. John's
Hardwood83 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Excellent insight. Even if Ware doubled his stats from Oregon (asking an awful lot) he would be at 32mins 13pts, 8reb, 2.5blks/1 asst per game. Of course, I would take that right freaking now for certain, and those number likely make him a first round draft pick. However, that isn't even close to what TJD just did and the season's results were still less than we all hoped. I guess my point it is, it will take a lot more than Ware to get IU where they need to be. A down in the trenches guy like Ledlum seems like a big part of that. -
SB Nation article about NCAA summer scrimage proposal. "a proposal that is gaining steam within the NCAA to allow teams to host actual “scrimmages” during the summer practice period."
-
If this is sarcasm, then 'ha-ha'. If not, I'll point out they are losing 4 starters, including at least their top 3 best players. Now that might sound a lot like IU, but Iowa doesn't have a lot behind them and so far not bringing in much from the portal.

(2019) C/PF - Kadin Shedrick to Virginia
Hardwood83 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Sure seems that way. As it appears IU is still pursuing Deloach, looks like they want to stack big's with varied skill sets too. 4- Reneau/DeLoach 5-Ware/ Sparks ETA- they all have at least 2yrs eligibility too. -
I'm sure they are struggling their way through law school. You should help them out! Will be interesting to see if Deloach still visits if Ware commits. I love me some big guys (that's what she said) but apparently so does Woody. Even more interesting is all of them have at least 2yrs of eligibility. Would that impact Bidunga?

Hardwood83 replied to Chris007's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
One of the many reasons I try to avoid Twitter like an STD. From my luddite perspective it's populated by 99.2% jackasses. The other 0.8% are just run of the mill drama queens. -
Yes, losing 4 of 5 starters and no obvious replacements (read twin brothers) to pick up the slack. Penn State, Iowa. Michigan (not despite Love, because of him!) maybe N'Western, all looking to take a step or two back.
-
Yeah, looks like you are correct and I was mistaken. I thought he played 4 yrs at Harvard, but looks like he must have red-shirted in 20-21. Or did the Ivy League cancel that season due to COVID? I am so confused!
-
Hate the top 5 and don't care for most of the rest either. As for Creighton, this must have been before Nemhard entered the portal? Sounds like they are likley losing Kalkbrenner and Kaluma also. Gonna take a BIG step back, it appears.
-
I believe you are wrong. Ledlum & Knecht have the COVID year only. Ware does have 3.

Yes, add a scoring wing (Knecht!) and IU has addressed every major concern as well as can be expected. No guarantees, but that would be 'winning the off-season' for sure. -
Jamison Battle - Minnesota Transfer to Ohio State
Hardwood83 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Or maybe IU cooled on him? He's a solid player and would make some sense for IU....but I'm not mad about it. Other comparable/better options, IMO. -
You ARE a ray sunshine! I like it....or did someone hack your account? Either way, that line-up would officially make me irrationally excited for next season.

Doesn't feel like Timberlake is feeling IU:
