(2024) PF - Derik Queen to Maryland

Who knows, Queen may commit this afternoon, but it sure does feel like attention whoring. Same with Harper and.....well most of the B-Ball recruiting complex. "Look at me, this time I really mean it!" ETA- not directed at Queen personally, since he seems to have kept a low-profile.

    IUBB @ Michigan - Tuesday, 12.05.23 @ 9:00 on Peacock TV

And where were you a week ago when I bought Peacock for a year!?! J/K of course. It's cheap and now I can watch 'The Office' reruns anytime I want! I am concerned about how IU will slow down McDaniel. He has really improved and the performances of Mack, etc don't inspire confidence.

Of the teams I've watched, Arizona looks to be the clear #1. UConn, KU, etc are good, but all flawed. I agree about Duke too. I think you are a little strong on Kentucky and Purdue although both have had some strong wins. I HOPE you are overly optimistic about Illinois.

SMU was blatant about it. All anyone else learned from that was to be more discreet. Didn't change the 'what' just the 'how.' See Alabama since forever.

Good argument, but that is meaningless. The NCAA is a wholly owned subsidiary of SEC football. The commitee will do their duty and install a SEC team no matter what.

Agreed. Did you see the put-back dunk Furst has mid 2nd half? It was impressive. I also wonder if Kaufman regrets Boilering himself, since I doubt he aspires to back-up Center minutes. Like you said a lot of standing around watching Edey- which will be enough for 20+ wins for sure....but when it really matters? Sad trombone for them.

I didn't think PU was gonna pull that off.

Purdue is who you thought they were. Watching UConn-KU & PU-NW at the same time and there is no way the Purdoo guards hold up vs either of those teams or many others like them. They really are just Edey and some guys.

You can just feel Purdoo's throat getting tighter. NW looks like a Rec league team- and not even a top tier one!

Yeah, sounds like an PU home game.

Maryland vs Indiana - Game Thread, Fri., 12/1 @ 7 BTN

Maryland reminds me of some recent IU teams. Talented players but not a very good team. Play dumb and look disjointed and confused too much. It's nice to see that happen someplace else!
  14. True, there COULD only be 2-3 open scholarships. But I think that is unlikely. One is open, XJ & Walker are done no matter what, but there is also the possibility that Ware & Mbako (maybe not as likely as we hoped) go pro and then Leal &/or Galloway could decide 4yrs is enough and skip their COVID year. Of course could have 1-2 transfers too. Nothing is for certain, but there could realistically be 8 open too- with only Liam signed so far.
  15. SI.com story That's ok, I would just ask to add a very good shooter from the portal too.

Yeah, shoulda been a 15pt win, but still good to see them go down. They still have tons of talent, but the mystique seems to be fading a little.

    Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA

I knew nothing about him before opening this thread today. I knew JMU was having a good run, but no clue about the coach. But your confidence and enthusiasm is enough for me, now I'm fully on the hype train for Cignetti!! Also, I do NOT want a position coach or MAC up & comer, so this checks all my boxes.

That's a safe bet whoever is hired.

Agreed. I think you hire the best candidate available and that is unlikely to be a position coach with no HC experience.

Indiana vs. Harvard- Sunday 11/26 @ 4:30 PM on BTN

Slight disagreement. I think he is good enough, but would say he's not 'ready to play' at this level, which is disappointing. What did he do in the off-season? He had a season of exposure to what it would take and.....there doesn't appear to be any discernable improvement. It's not reasonable to expect him to be a finished product the first month of his Soph season, but it is reasonable to expect progress. He has the tools but is missing something (drive, work ethic, BB IQ) and it clearly hasn't clicked yet.

Indiana vs. Harvard- Sunday 11/26 @ 4:30 PM on BTN

....and the rest of the year! I like Cupps, he's already a contributor and will only get better....but having him playing 38mins/game and the only available PG will be a mess. So we all agree? XJ will be ready Friday and healthy the rest of the season? that is a relief!

I had to look at the box score. NMSU had 40(!) fouls called on them. L'ville 16. Maybe that is legit and NMSU are fouling monsters, but wow 2.5x the fouls is hard to believe.

Indiana vs. Harvard- Sunday 11/26 @ 4:30 PM on BTN

Who had Ware on their Bingo card as "most consistent through 6 games?" Not me. A very good (and big) UCONN team took him out of his game, otherwise he's been really soild. Where would IU be without him, so far? A few mos ago I asked "who needs to have a great season for IU to exceed expectations?" My answer was Trey, and it appears I might have been right. If he knocks down 35% from 3 and does the little things he always has, IU is MUCH better. So far he's struggling and they all seem disjointed on either end of the court. Still if MM emerges and XJ is healthy and settles down, IU can still be a really solid team. FIgure it out on defense and a couple guys consistently hitting 3's......

Would Frye be on the list without being an alum?
