Agreed which is why the staff went after Kencht (whom they thought they were going to land) and others.

The board did indeed endlessly discuss the need for a shooter (but yet I got shot down for suggesting I wanted a three way 2G with TG coming off the bench) I agree that we aren’t good enough at the 1,2,3 but there is NO WAY they left an open roster spot to give TG and Gunn the opportunity. No way that was the staffs intentional strategy. The coaches went hard after a number of shooters and thought for sure they were getting Kencht, as an example. Unfortunately he went to TN and is averaging. 19.7 per game @54% from the field.

That absolutely was NOT the “staffs design”. They tried like hell to get shooters and thought they got one in MM. Were they successful in getting shooters? No they weren’t but it’s ridiculous to think that was their plan.

I agree that losing to Louisville would be a very bad sign.

I had us losing by 23. I’ve seen IU a couple of times at the Garden, and once in Brooklyn, but there was no way I was going to spend the hotel/train/ticket/bar cash for this one.

We really needed the end of the season X, from 2 years ago, to continue that type of play. He was great but unfortunately those 8-10 games are looking like an anomaly.

We got smoked last year by Arizona and Kansas but still made the tourney. I’m not throwing in the towel but I don’t think our ceiling is real high. We are just not elite at the 1,2 or 3.

I realize some already reserved his space at the Hall of Fame but what did you expect from Cupps 4 games into his freshman season? He has been better than I thought he would be at this point.

Wish we could get a guy like Tristin Newton. Why oh why can’t we get an offensive player like him ? Not only would it help on the perimeter but it would really open up the front court.

On a positive note MM just almost got a rebound.

We better have our heads in the game vs Louisville tomorrow. They are pathetic .

I think he has been a pleasant surprise. He is getting help from MR but literally no one on the perimeter has done anything to take defensive pressure off of him.

It’s just crazy how Gunn’s shots don’t drop.

Ware has been a very pleasant surprise. This off-season I was disappointed that we didn’t land a multi-dimensional 2G that was a threat from the perimeter (even though a few thought I was nuts because we had Trey). After that I just hoped MM would be the perimeter threat we needed. That obviously hasn’t happened (so far, I’m not giving up on him) but it’s been exacerbated because both X and TG have regressed. We really need those two to pick it up.

We just can’t make anything from the perimeter (unless our 7 footer shoots it).

For some reason I thought this might be MM’s coming out party but he apparently did not get the invite.

When do we hand out “the team is not as deep as we thought prior to the season” certificate?
