IUBB vs Sam Houston - Tuesday, 12.03.24 @ 7:30 on BTN

Can he ever. Feel bad for Newton (and us) that he has endured so many injuries as he is obviously a tough, very athletic dude.

IUBB vs Sam Houston - Tuesday, 12.03.24 @ 7:30 on BTN

Several times Leal has grabbed a board and started a quick transition possession with just a few dribbles followed by a really nice fairly long pass. That transition is much better than sleep walking up the court.

21 fouls called in 12 minutes. Choppy/no flow play.

Bako didn’t even touch the guy on that foul and there have been several other “phantom fouls” (on both sides). Refs are just frustrating

At number 10 we are virtually a lock to be in the playoff!!! I hope GA beats Texas because I don’t want to open at GA. In 4 years the Georgia seniors have never lost a home game. I think we could possibly break that streak but prefer to not find out.

    Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Just checked Fanduel and the over/under on when he will fall asleep tonight is at the 10 minute mark of the first half. I’m going with the under as I don’t think he will make it past 8 minutes since the building is going to be dead and who cares about a game vs Sam Walton? Also doesn’t help that it gets dark early.

Agree. Miller was a horrible coach but he was one of the hottest young coaches in the country and had success at Dayton. Although he was a terrible “swing and a miss” it was not a mystifying hire. However when it came to Woodsons hire, as many have noted, literally no other program in the country (college or pro) would have considered him for a head coach job. That alone says it all.

    Fire Coach Woodson Thread

I guess I’m virtually a lone voice here but I don’t see where she is saying “build a program with Mike Woodson”. Nor does she say Woodson is doing a good job. Her reporting that the powers that be are not ready to pull the trigger on Woodson, after the Bahamas, isn’t her saying he should stay. Some of the posts seem to imply that. I find some of the info interesting/depressing (they knew Allen couldn’t coach for several years, they didn’t freak out about the Bahamas (which is depressing to hear as I would have hoped they were freaking out over the Bahamas,) cognitive issues might be in play, etc etc). In any case I think he will be gone at the end of April either being forced out (by far the most likely) or taking a victory lap retirement after a good season which is highly doubtful based on the Bahamas and previous years. Against Louisville and Gonzaga we literally looked like a team that had never practiced. I think Goode was almost freaking out because he couldn’t believe how poor the effort/play was (he seems to “care” even though he can’t hit anything). The positive thing about the portal is that hiring a new coach doesn’t mean four years are needed for a turnaround. A broken clock is right twice a day so maybe the Administration will actually hire the right person this time. Maybe?Hopefully?

It doesn’t make it right but cronyism using tax dollars has happened since….forever.

Extending him, and adding a million a year, was a very poor decision. That being said, the contract extension also changed his buyout to 1,000,000 a year, rather than a lump sum, which is very easy to absorb.

I’m not counting on it happening but agree that a “retirement tour” would be the best case scenario. Woody would get the hell out of dodge and we could openly put out feelers for his replacement.

Perhaps I have poor reading comprehension but I don’t think she defends Woody’s performance or claims that things are going well. Her posts give a perspective of how the “powers that be” operate but that doesn’t mean that she agrees with their viewpoints or the direction of the program.

    Fire Coach Woodson Thread

I’m glad she posts as I actually like reading her institutional/ university perspectives and takes on Dolsons thought process. Is it more informative to only read the 1,000 posts that all basically just say Woodson sucks, fire him?

I strongly disagree that AD’s, at any school, don’t need approvals or are allowed to act unilaterally, if a huge buyout is involved and/or if move is being made on a revenue generating coach. Do some AD’s have more juice than others? Absolutely, but none of them operate in an all-powerful position. With all the $$$$$$$$$ sloshing around there are indeed a number of stakeholders.

I don’t think Kathy is wrong. AD’s don’t make these hire/fire decisions in a vacuum or on their own. Do you think the A&M AD came to the conclusion to fire Jimbo on his own even though Jimbo was owed 75 million? Kudos to SD for firing Allen but there is no way in hell he fired him, with a 17mm buyout, without consulting the “stakeholders”. Good or bad it’s reality.

I also won’t be surprised if we end up in Austin. One thing for sure is that in the Georgia-Texas game one team will be rewarded for a quality win and the other team will be rewarded for a quality loss.

Yesterday I wanted Georgia to lose to Georgia Tech. Today….I wanted Georgia to win the SEC so that we do not open against them. I’ve probably just been sucked into the brand name vortex but GA is one of the places I least want to travel too.

With all our resources and support the hires have been poor. It’s beyond comprehension to me that IU Basketball has been to ONE Elite 8 since the 1992-1993 team. In over 30 years we have been to the Elite 8 ONCE while the formerly “who cares about them” UCONN program has won 6 Natty’s. Just sickening.
  22. In the “who cares” game I predict: IU - 85 Sam Walton - 71

Bummer is that I was going to predict a total wipeout but changed my mind due to the weather. Guess that means I’ll have to predict us to beat Georgia 56-3.
