Cap won’t work. If there is a cap it will be violated within 2 seconds by UNC, UK etc and the NCAA won’t do ANYTHING about it. The fact that the portal allows guys to transfer every single year, without sitting out, has really hurt the small schools. A lot of dudes didn’t want to sit for a year in the past but now anything goes.

Yes, I get that plus each of his moves have been a step up in the food chain. From a “career” (lets not kid ourselves by thinking of them as student- athletes)standpoint his progression has been impressive. I accept that it’s just the way it is these days and am not yelling “get off my lawn”.

One way to help fund Mullins NIL, if he flips which I doubt, would be to promote his de commitment Zoom call to Hurley as a pay per view event. I’d pay good money to watch/hear Hurley’s reaction.

I also like that approach but hearing it doesn’t move the needle for me (maybe I am becoming a curmudgeon). He answered the question as he should, so it’s not a knock on DD, but to me it’s “coach speak” in that 98% of coaches would give the same answer. Edit: and of the 2% of coaches that would have given a different answer one of those nameless coaches would have said “I just have to get guys to get us over the hump”.

After a very disappointing season it’s good to see that we moved from a coach with a 10-10 conference record, and barely missing the tourney, all the way up to a coach with a 10-10 conference record while barely missing the tourney.

Hopefully the Brad Train is well maintained because in four years Brad will only be 52. All aboard !!!

Was our guy BS? Hopefully that was not the case as Steven’s has had 4 friggin years to ponder being IU’s coach. I’ll be surprised, and disappointed, if he was the guy Scott thought he had only to have him back out.

This is one of the first days that I have been unable to keep up with the posts but based on quickly reading a few, with Devries name a number of times, I assume that means we somehow got him to agree to be Brads assistant. Awesome !

I also wanted to believe that the BS (pun intended) hire was happening. After the initial jolt of happiness I questioned if the guy running the Celtics actually wants to spend a ton of hours watching high school guys playing in small time gyms. It would a great hire but I don’t see it.

I enjoy this thread but it’s cracking me up. This morning we had Brad Steven in the bag (again) and now it’s Brownell?? He is a lot better than Woody but I agree with those that say he wouldn’t be on the radar if he wasn’t a native Hoosier (not a good reason to hire him) On the other hand…..who the hell knows who is really on Dolsons radar? Can’t wait to find out.

Being so invested in a team that has been to one Elite 8, in 30 years, has made me a bit grumpy….:)

Agree. Although I am philosophically against guys sitting out it would be a tragedy if some dude blew out his knee playing in the “made-up, who gives a sh!te” Crown tourney. In this case I’d agree with a player taking a pass.

No one (or maybe next to no one) would have found it hilarious if he said “I got my cash and I’m done”. And literally everyone that talks about tourney bubble teams talks about the quality of wins and losses.

It always comes down to $$$$$. ESPN has the rights to the NIT so…… Fox, which covers BT, BE and Big 12 teams, has dreamed up the 16 team Crown single elimination tourney in Vegas. There will be teams in the tourney from the three conferences they televise during the season. It’s a blatant play for cash but I assume the interest level will be low. Real low.

There is a TON to complain about this year but what was MR supposed to say when asked about the tourney? Would it have been better if he replied….We suck, I don’t want to play anymore, I’d rather be in the Crown so I can go to Vegas, I’m tired, I got paid and I am done?? I don’t think we deserve to be in the tourney but am glad he lobbied for it.

Tucker deserves the game ball as he made as many field goals as Goode and as many free throws as Leal!!! Very impressive from the bench.

Not 100% this is correct but I’ve read that, due to the tv deal with Fox, we are contractually obligated to play in the Crown if invited.
