IUBB vs Minnesota - Friday, 01.12.24 @ 6:30 on FS1

Tonight perhaps. Problem (and I am a fan of his) is his inconsistency (especially on the offensive side). -

Maliks EXTREMELY quick release on his post move shots is a thing of beauty. -

He is having a poor night (so far) but I’ve seen him in other games and thought “man I wish we would have landed him”. -

Up 9 with 2:26 to go and put in Cupps, Banks and Gunn together (not a fab) but survived to halftime with a 10 point lead. -

IU - 77 Gophers - 71 -
Wait. I’m confused. There are rules ???
-
It’s allegedly down to Lenning and Tom Allen. Lennings buyout would cost Bama 20,000,000 but I’m sure that’s not a roadblock for them.
-
It’s crazy that with Saban retiring IU, of all places, has the best coach in college football. Don’t believe me? Just Google it.
-
I agree with you, and don’t know how much former players donate, but I just don’t think it impacts the kids play/attitude when the ball goes up. I was a freshman for the undefeated 75-76 season (spoiled me). Prior to that season I saw photos of the last championship team, from 1953, which was 4 years before I was born. In my mind it was very cool but also thought those were old photos from the Stone Age. A freshman now was born 18 years after our last championship and 24 years after IT played. I think they are aware of the tradition, and like meeting guys like IT because he was in the league, but I don’t think it impacts results. I wouldn’t focus on “IU family” when hiring a coach but it would be a tie-breaker if two candidates (one with IU ties) really stood out.
-
I was at IU when all three of those guys played. Do I think it’s “nice/cool” to bridge the generations and embrace the traditions? Yes. Do I think it means much of anything to 18-22 year olds? No Do I think their performance on the court is impacted in anyway because Isiah, Randy, May etc are happy/involved/invested? No

Your dad was correct. In the post, early in his career, he would constantly mis-handle perfectly thrown bounce passes. He also played very stiffly just as MM does. Needless to say, based on being All BT and in the NBA, Uwe greatly improved. -

I agree and think that is one of the reasons his quest to be a “one and done” is a pipe dream. Nothing good happens when he leads us in transition. He either loses the ball or, if he makes it to the rim, he “eats” the ball. I yell “no” when he receives a pass when running in transition because he never, ever handles those passes. Fumbles it, slips through his hands, is taken from him, bounces off his foot etc. Every game he has his hands on multiple rebounds that are taken away from him. All that being said….. He has a sweet stroke, forget the stars and remember he is only half way through his freshman year and if he sticks around he could be a really good soph or junior (I’m probably dreaming in regards to him sticking around for three years). Uwe Blap is a classic example of a guy that grew from being a guy that couldn’t catch a friggin bounce pass when he was a freshman to becoming All Big Ten and a NBA draftee his senior year. I know that was a million years ago (I still had dark hair) but does show that “hands” can change. -

I agree with you in theory but unfortunately you can’t have both 1 and 2 happen because if Woody benches everyone that doesn’t block out the result will be hockey line substitutions. -
It’s funny how things can change relatively quickly. There were more than a few people saying his days were numbered but now…………….

I think our fans would be very understanding of being a 1 seed and losing to FDU, or a 3 seed losing to St Peters, or losing to North Texas etc. LOL I’ll give him a lot of credit for how they play, and 8 straight trips to the tourney, but this board would have melted with those tourney losses. -

Among other things we are really impacted by 6th year X’s inconsistencies. He is one of the primary reasons we beat OSU but tonight he decides to dribble into crowded lanes multiple times and give a guy a handy. Unfortunately, at this point he is what he is. -

Rather astonishing. You would think college players could shoot better than 4-15 from the free throw line using their off-hand. -

Down 8 and we are 4-15 from the FREE THROW line. Just shows how bad Rutgers is. -

The season isn’t quite over yet He saw two teammates go to the NBA (which means a ton to guys) He is a focal part of the team Assume he makes a lot of NIL cash. Never say never but unless everything implodes I think/hope he stays. -

I hate when guards draw a foul with the herky jerky head flinging back.
