That’s not what he or the staff thought at all. They clearly went after portal guards which indicated they realized the team wasn’t “fine to roll”. There is a lot to complain about but I don’t agree with the narrative that the staff was so f’ng stupid that they thought we didn’t need guards. Now, did they fail in getting guards, was their search perhaps too tight, did they think they had a guy or 2 that they lost???? Absolutely.

I respectfully disagree. Cupps is the prototypical 4 year, don't do much for 2 years, Wisconsin type of player that many claim they want in order to build a foundation. In a perfect world X would have somehow consistently been the X of his 7-8 game run during one solitary season, while we would have also added quality portal guards that dictated Cupps only playing 5 minutes a game this year. He is a freshman, that was not slated to be an instant star, that is a victim of the roster construction.

Cupps had a wide open corner 3 but instead dribbled into the middle of the court and shot an 18 foot 2, which he missed, while drifting to his left side. I don’t get it.

Gunn is shooting himself into a starting guard position for a MAC team next year. However, these days, is he willing to take a pay cut?

If the posts are true (and I say IF because who knows if they are correct) that MM is going pro “no matter what” the young man is making a big mistake. First of all, like many freshmen, he has to learn how to play hard. The dude just jogs around more then occasionally. Not only does he have to prove, to the NBA, that he can play defense he also has to become absolutely deadly from the three. He has to be deadly from the three because he reminds me of CWat, who I loved watching but didn’t make the league, in that he is also a 6’8”-6’9” type of guy that you would think could attack the basket but both of them eat leather half of the time they drive. He could be a rally good college player in a year or two with possibly (and I underline possibly) a NBA future if he progresses.Who knows? We will see.
