So they have basically fired Woodson but effective next year?!?! WTF. Nothing says incompetent more than willfully agreeing to endure another poor season while also being willing to negatively impact recruiting for the next 2 seasons. The administration has to exit the echo chamber of “we must tread lightly with Woody” and look at the big picture. At this point they are on the verge of taking the worst path possible (other than extending him).

I couldn’t agree more. The decision makers are literally willing to tank the next season. Maybe Woody has somehow convinced them that we will get the number one pick by finishing last.

I have no idea what MR is going to do but have thought the same thing you posted. Where else is he going to repeatedly get the ball on offense and be allowed to shoot from anywhere he wants? Maybe he leaves because he feels that we will be crappy again next year but maybe the $$$, probably seeing Ware go to the league, and being the focus of the offense will keep him around.

Yep, The year, and the immediate future, are not great but some that thought we would go 0-4 at the end of the season now disparage every single win. Whatever. I assumed the locker room was dead and here we are….5 W’s in a row (yes, I’m ready for the “accepting lower standards” blah blah blah comments).

Terrible year but after 5 wins in a row I’m ready to sit back and read how every team we beat is shite.

It will be interesting to hear what Malik does as his market value is quite high. I assume he has been fielding ACC/SEC/Big 12 offers. Any news if MM has been offered a raise or is it just assumed he is gone?

I can’t imagine what college would have been like for me if I was making 250-500k (?) a year while hanging around with a ton of “interested” coeds. I probably would have begged the NCAA for 7 years but most likely would have been kicked out within a year.

If that is how Scott D etc feel I hope they step back and ask themselves “what is the upside to keeping Woody for next season”? The answer is obviously that there is zero upside to another season. Why delay the inevitable?

I’m in agreement that we need a new coach but your comparison of Payne vs Woody is laughable. Payne went 12-52 in his first two years while Woodson went to the tourney (with admittedly poor results) both of his two first years. EDIT: On a side note….. recruiting, NIL, portal etc makes college coaching a royal pain in the @$$ but the exit plans are sweet. Payne is scheduled to receive $8,000,000 for doing a terrible, terrible job.

Not doubting you, or defending Woody, but am curious as to how Woodys ego led to the PSU losses. They were definitely bad/terrible losses but was his ego different vs PSU as opposed to the game we just won against MSU?

But the IU students show up more than other schools. Why is that a negative? I thinks it’s great that 8,000 are students.

HORRENDOUS guys like Stephenson at ATT, Ebbers, Ballmer, Lay etc etc lasted for years. I’ve been around long-term CEO’s of small and mid cap companies, that are not well known, that were absolutely horrible and made decisions that drove the companies into the dirt. The corporate world is not always an efficient machine.

I’m guessing I am in the minority here but I completely agree with the above statement from Kathy. In my opinion she has provided a number of interesting tidbits but many have blasted her as if she is defending the current status quo when in fact she has been describing what is going on as opposed to saying the current situation is acceptable.

With respect…..I have been around multiple corporate decision makers that do everything humanly possible to try to be sure the buck doesn’t stop with them. They make excuses, blame the market or underlings and then, when they are unsuccessful blaming others, they walk away with settlements that make Tom Allen’s look like chump change.
