To be fair, iwe have had a TON of open threes but that “making them” part of the equation has been tough. -
2024-25 Prediction League - Game 11 at Nebraska Fri 12/13/24 8pm FOX

I don’t really believe this for a second, and won’t be surprised if we lose by 25+, but……… IU - 77 NB - 74 -
As we have discussed I’d bet next year the conference winners will still automatically get in, such as AZ State this year, but they will be seeded by playoff ranking rather than receiving preferential treatment. If that format had been in place this year IU would have opened by hosting Boise State in Bloomington. The place would have been nuts.

This is a big game. Due to our weak ooc wins I think we need 12 BT wins to slide into the tourney and 13 will comfortably get us in. To get to those numbers we need at least 4 road wins. Below are our BT road games. Lose tonight and I won’t be surprised if we only get 1-2 road wins. Road games are: Nebraska, PSU (at the Palestra), Iowa, OSU, Northwestern, Purdue, Wisconsin, MSU, UW, Oregon -

Some sites now have IU at -4.5 -
Section 125 tickets are now available for $800 including fees. Still expensive but they have dropped from $1,576 (almost 800 buck drop) in three days. Bet they will continue to drop as out of state season ticket holder realize they won’t be able to “ring the bell $$$$” to the extent they initially thought. Hopefully it gets to the point where a number of Hoosiers are in attendance.

“On paper” I’m not too worried about strength of schedule comments next year. This year the first playoff reveal was on Nov 5th. At that point next year we will have played Illinois, at Iowa and at Oregon (and also UCLA which improved throughout the year) which should put our SOS in a better place than this year. I just hope we are in the conversation. If people are blowing us sh!te at least that means we are in the running.

Arkansas beats UM by 2. It was almost like three different games. UM looked good, terrible and then good again the last 9 minutes of the second half. The UM 7 footers, Wolf and Goldin, are impressive and will be a challenge for IU. They handle the ball well, are good passers and move well. They were good use of NIL $$$$$.

Dusty is great. That being said….its too bad for him that basketball games are 2 halves. UM looks terrible, with 9:00 to go, this half. Still time to turn it around but way too many turnovers. I hate Cal but Arkansas is pretty fun to watch. For a good portion of many of their possessions they only have one guy inside the three point line and they quickly move the ball around. I’m not used to seeing such a thing….LOL EDIT: And then UM goes on a 12-0 run. Tightening up.

The future of college football

Agreed. A salary cap is the dumbest idea they could possibly come up with. It will take a nanosecond for 90% of the SEC to exceed the cap. Who is going to enforce the cap? The NCAA? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Work for their stipends? Who in the world is going to gauge the market value of the players “work”? $ 13,000,000 cap when OSU is estimated to pay 20mm? I’m sure they will roll that back quickly. LOL. That being said…I’m 100% in favor of tightening up portal rules including how many times a player can move without sitting out. The timing in place now also doesn’t make sense. Why are playoff coaches tied up with the portal now? The window should open after the playoffs are over. -
If we do worse this year maybe the donors will give him 10,000,000 NIL to help with next year……. And yes I’m kidding but…..who the hell knows what they might do.
-
I get that the HS/portal ratio is a bit out of whack but which coach doesn’t buy portal (or high level high school ) players with donor money? I’m glad we have donors willing to pony up and so will the next coach.

ESPN probably wants to keep the show and gets good ratings. Since there are complaints about teams being left out of the 68 team NCAA basketball tourney I assume there will continue to be football playoff complaints each year.

The generation likes to work. He has a plan. Coach for 7 years and then run for Senate.
-
At least we are consistent year to year…..LOL
-
That is probably news to TJD as he has often, and consistently, stated he was leaving IU but the meeting with Woody and his father changed his mind. As far as him getting cash…..he would have received the same amount at a Kansas/SEC type of school. In regards to Race. Agree on all points.

Yep, Thats why I said that 20 wins and one tourney victory is the worst possible outcome.

Instead of 12 teams next year maybe the committee should rank every D1 team and then decide how many teams to include in the playoff based on how Bama does. 3 examples: If Alabama is the 15th ranked team then the playoff will have 15 teams with Bama getting a bye. If Alabama is the 22nd ranked team then the playoff will have 22 teams with Bama getting a bye. If Alabama is the 38th ranked team then the playoffs will have 38 teams with Bama getting a bye. Seems like a simple, fair solution.

I think winning 20 games and getting a win in the tourney is the worst case scenario for the program. I have never wanted IU to lose, in anything, but this year I hope the team makes it to the Elite 8/FF (not holding my breath) or doesn’t make the tourney at all. Missing the tourney would hopefully lead to Woody being fired while an Elite 8 would give him the “Mike Woodson came and did the job” excuse to retire. In either case he would be gone. But….win 20 and one game in the tourney and he might get another year.
-
Not only did Bama get drilled by Oklahoma it was after a win over Mercer and before their final game against a very mediocre Auburn. They can’t cry about the SEC meat grinder, that they always whine about, when the game prior to Oklahoma was at home against MERCER. PS. We played 4 of the teams, in the list of 12 toughest schedules, and went 4-0. According to Bama/Finebaum criteria we should be the #1 seed with a bye.

TJD himself has repeatedly credited Woody , while TJD was at IU and after, with developing him while never mentioning Archie so this is one of the few things in which I would give Woody credit. TJD & Ware got better, Ballo is looking better etc. but the unfortunate thing is that all three of those guys are “5’s” and there happens to be 4 additional spots, which have not thrived, on the floor.
-
And in the crazy scenario you laid out Alabama still wouldn’t be in the playoff!!
-
I agree with your sentiment and don’t understand why people lambast Kathy when she explains how it has been “working” at IU. She doesn’t say it’s a good way to conduct business but rather reporting how it has been done. Kind of interesting that Buckner unsuccessfully tried to get Woody after Crean. The door opened for QB/Woody once Archie bombed and Brad said no. If Archie or Brad worked out there would never had been coach Woody. We are cursed…
-
He won’t leave on his own if that means giving up the balance $$ of his contract. The amount of $$$$ underperforming coaches walk away with is impressive/sickening.

There are no legality issues. You can buy tickets through Stubhub (which are often, but not always, above face value) for events anywhere and everywhere. Sometimes the prices are sky high while other times, such as when you could get $12-$15 IU football tickets a couple of years ago, they are dirt cheap.
